Some of us have to make mistakes. Some of us have to get our hands a little bloody sometimes. Some of us are human!
"Wo de ma he ta de fen kuang de wai sheng dou."
"I think I should be the one saying that Captain," Simon hissed through clenched teeth.
He groaned when Mal put pressure on the shoulder wound. Shaking his head, trying to stay awake, the doctor tapped Mal's arm and pointed to something behind him.
"The-the med-"
Mal's hand shot out and haphazardly grabbed at the red bag he hoped knew should be behind him.
"Tell me what I need to do."
Simon's eyes fluttered. The Captain gently tapped the kid's cheek.
"Hey, hey, doc'. Focus on me. I need you to tell me what to do."
Hazy blue eyes met his. Cold fingers struggled with the zip and Mal scrambled to help.
"Ad-adrenaline. Sh-should keep-keep me..."
"You know, doc," Mal said while he loaded the hypo with clumsy fingers, "when you said I should start learning the ropes, I didn't think you meant like this."
Simon laughed breathlessly, pain etched onto his face.
"Sor-sorry."
Mal's eyes softened and he brushed a quick hand through Simon's hair, trying to hide how much it was shaking.
"You won't apologize when you see my needle work. There was a reason my ma never let me near a needle and thread."
STANCY WEEK 2017: day 5 ⇢ summer romance au
It’s the summer of 1984 in Hawkins, Indiana. School is out, the weather’s great - but for Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler, it’s more than just a normal vacation. After meeting at a party, their days are suddenly full of late-night movies, amusement parks, and spontaneous road trips. However, the more time they spend together, the more Steve and Nancy realize that their relationship is deeper than just a summer fling.
But I learned a lot at my own funeral.

Jaws (1975) Directed by Steven Spielberg
Tragically I don't have any insightful questions to ask, just wanted to say that you are one of my all time favourite directors (probably even my favourite, strongly considering getting a hill house tattoo). I have yet to watch any of your work that I didn't love! Do you have a top five favourites of your works?
Thank you for saying that - and if you get that tattoo send a pic! I'm always amazed when people do that. (Make sure you're really sure, though - as someone who's had four tattoos lasered off, I'm a big believer in approaching with caution).
It's very, very tough for me to evaluate my own work. They're all colored by the experience of making them, or the difficulty of a certain studio, or a bad cast experience, or whatever. It's impossible to be objective at all.
But if I had to rank my top 5, I'd have to say: 5) Hush - this was an incredibly important movie for Kate and I together, and I love what we made. I also loved the challenge of leaning into purely visual storytelling. When we finished shooting, Kate and I decided to get married, so it feels like an absolutely bizarre and singular chapter in our courtship.
4) Doctor Sleep - this was the biggest movie I ever worked on, and was a joyful and surreal experience throughout. Working for Warner Bros. let me operate on a new and different level, and nothing will ever compare to going to work in the Overlook Hotel. This movie also helped me get sober, so it'll always hold a piece of my soul.
3) The Haunting of Hill House - I love this show, but I sure didn't love making it. The most difficult production experience of my career breeds some very complicated feelings, but I've always been proud of the finished product. There are a few subplots that don't really go anywhere and some loose threads I'd clean up if I had it to do again, but this show was a labor of love and it changed my life forever.
2) The Fall of the House of Usher - I really, really, really love this show. It's just wicked fun. I know you guys haven't seen it yet, we're still finishing it up, but I really think it's something special. And it was a joy to make with such a huge cast of Intrepid All-Stars - so many of my favorite actors from all of the series, and a lot of the movies. It represents the definitive end of the Netflix era, and I just adore it. It's also like nothing else I've ever done... can't wait to show you. This one is fucking ambitious. 1) Midnight Mass - this one may forever be my favorite. The story is by far the most personal one I've told so far, the experience of making it was top-notch across the board, and it remains - frame for frame - the show I most wanted to make. There's never been another project that has captured so much of me. It's the piece of work I hope my kids will interrogate some day when I'm gone; I think watching this will help them know and understand me just a little bit better.
But again, it's impossible to say. I've loved everything I've been lucky enough to make - I told myself at the start I wouldn't work on something if I didn't love it, and I've stayed true to that. But these are the ones that come to mind.

“i, uh–i handpicked those for you in hawkins. i know you like yellow, but now i’m realizing it’s too much yellow. i know you also like purple, so i got purple as well.”
Oh, Fran, my darling. How can I make you understand how much I adore you? All right, let’s start with your sense of humour. I love your vivacity, your guilelessness, your irreverence. I love your pizzazz, your fire, your passion, I love the way you get excited over a good piece of coffee cake. Or even a bad one. Oh, and I love that smile.
