P.S. For people who are not 40 have not watched The X-Files, that other guy in the red speedo scene is Mulder’s new partner, the apparent woobie whom Mulder is a jerk to because he’s not Scully… but who later turns out to be a Secret Villain.

It’s a SUPER DARK scene so the caps are awful - plus caps can’t get across just how startling it was to see Krycek pointing a handgun at Mulder, threatening his life, and then just….. lunge forward, and kiss Mulder on the cheek. Because this was 1998 and one of the most popular shows on TV and you just didn’t SEE THAT. So here’s a GIF instead.

honestly. i think about this All The Time.

Not for nothing but Modell had to audibly grunt with effort to make Mulder turn that gun on Scully.

I'm 99% certain it was Mulder who grunted with the effort to keep from pointing the gun at Scully. That sound makes me feral.

Then again, I could be mistaken. Gee, maybe I should watch Pusher today and report back. 😉

Omg. I think y’all are right?!? All this time 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I seriously thought it was Modell but Mulder makes a slight movement. Well. I’ll say this. That makes it better. Lol. So much better.

I was rewatching the scene (BECAUSE) and I noticed something:

Mulder easily pulls the trigger against himself, yes; but Scully-- who holds life sacred, even a death fetishist's-- doesn't yell and scream at Mulder to stop until he's turned the gun from Modell to himself.

Pusher might get shot? "Mulder, wait a minute..."

MULDER might get shot? Vehement Old Testament vows of vengeance and fury.

the x files is funny because at the time it was “progressive” or whatever to have the ultra-rational, levelheaded character be a woman

but it’s also a show where all the fucked up alien shit actually is real, so she’s just constantly wrong about everything

What’s funny is how often they’re both wrong. Mulder will be like “the victims all had their livers scooped clean out this is obviously the aliens escalating from cattle mutilation” and Scully will be like “don’t be silly Mulder this is clearly just a serial killer who’s really good with surgical tools” and then it turns out the actual killer is an immortal sewer man who comes out ever quarterly century to feast on human liver.

I cannot stress enough that this is literally the plot of an actual episode
