The choice between saving the world and saving a loved one happened too often in Infinity War to ignore. Starting with Loki and Thor at the very beginning of the film, and then with Peter and Gamora, Wanda and Vision, Gamora and Nebula, even Stephen Strange and Tony (although the motives may be different). And though he may not be saving the world from our perspective, Thanos had to make that choice as well, Gamora or the soul stone.
Even though Peter pulled the trigger on Gamora and Wanda did destroy the mind stone, Steve put such an emphasis on the fact that they don't trade lives.
But what if they do. What if they need to. What if that's what needs to be done to bring everyone back and save the universe somehow. A trade.
I know we all be sending our therapy bills to marvel but can we just acknowledge how fUCKING GOOD infinity war is as a movie

Man I wish tv show writers could just plan their entire show out from the start rather than releasing new episodes or seasons based on popularity or viewership. Then we could skip the whole gradual decline in creativity and quality in plot development and characterisation, which will inevitably get them cancelled so that all we’re left with are a few shitty last seasons that speed through some weak arse storylines and then a finale that makes no sense and does no justice to anyone
The 2005 adaptation of the lion the witch and the wardrobe is so wonderful and charming, if only all book to movie adaptations were so well executed maybe I'd be less stressed about life
