The massacre in Jenin is horrific but just the sight of bodies being left on the street because no ambulances/paramedics can get to them since Israel has been blocking them from reaching areas of the refugee camp…yeah there aren’t any words. Literally what can you even say

Update: now the iof is calling for the evacuation of Jenin Refugee camp - Palestinian families are being forced to leave. Colonizers doing what they do best

timesofgaza & eyeonpalestine & onlinepaleng have been posting about this live all day, please keep an eye on those accounts for updates

I think this is a good time as any to remind you that a little goes a long way. I implore you guys to please donate to Palestine. They have been facing hardships and violence at the hands of the Israelis since the occupation of their homeland started in 1948. Innocent people are being robbed of their homes, their lives, their dignity, and are helpless against it all.

Linked below are a few charities and organizations working to provide relief in the area. Please consider offering whatever you can.

hey, to any of my followers who live in the U.S., you've probably heard of the Supreme Court's overturning of Chevron deference - a 40-year precedent that delegated power to our various governmental agencies and allowed scientific experts to make the decisions on how to keep our water clean, our food safe, our environment free from pollution, etc. now, judges on courts have the power to decide these things, even though they are far from trained experts on the decisions they'll be making.

it's bad. it feels hopeless. you can help, though, by writing an email to your Congress representatives and urging them to do something about this, to legally hand power back to the experts. the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has just launched a campaign that does the writing for you: all you have to do is enter your name, address, email, and phone number using the form found HERE. you don't have to donate, you can uncheck the box to become a member of the Fund if you don't want updates from them - all you have to do is enter your information and submit.

their goal is to get 10,000 emails sent out - please make some noise! share this, reblog this post, be loud!

Any tips on being aroace?

I can’t speak from experience but

1: know that no matter what anyone says, the rules that dictate whether or not an action is defined as platonic or romantic are bullshit and you can do whatever the fuck you want forever

2: be proud

3: catch up on that show you always wanted to watch I promise it’s good

Fundraiser masterpost

This is a masterpost for the evacuation fundraisers I've vetted so far, a few other fundraisers I find trustworthy but have not been able to vet (inability to communicate with the organizer), and a few semi-completed fundraisers or fundraisers for a different purpose (like house rebuilding, or aid distribution). The numbers next to the names have no significance beyond ease of navigation for me for when I check their progress in the future. You should look at the disclaimers instead and focus on those. Occasionally I will update these with new info, including new fundraisers, and the amount of cash that's been raised. Check in regularly on the original post when you see it being reblogged. In all likelihood once its reached you it's already outdated. Also please don't overlook the Sustainable Aid options near the bottom! The brain drain is already creating problems but having another way of keeping or creating new knowledge and key members of a functioning society is important.

Okay maybe I’m going a little bit off my rocker but did anyone, circa late 2019-early 2020, see a post that talked about some guy who was threatening to kill all ugly people in a certain area, and to watch out for him, and then the very same guy that that post was talking about made a blog or had a blog and just. Started talking to people? My first online friend would get anonymous messages that were supposedly from him talking about why he wanted to kill all ugly peoples and what not. Did anyone see this. Did anyone even HEAR of this guy. Hello

A little advice from someone studying extremist groups: if you’re in a social media environment where the daily ubiquitous message is that you have no hope of any kind of future and you can’t possibly achieve anything without a violent overthrow of society, you’re being radicalized, and not in the good way.

If the solution to your problems sounds like “we need a blank slate” it’s a lie. There are no blank slates, and the closest approximation people can generally imagine is “burn it all down and let God/fate/history sort it out”.

That’s not problem solving. It’s barely catharsis, in practice. It doesn’t just create more problems than it solves, it destroys more solutions than it creates.

Put the apocalypse down, and back away slowly.

Real solutions to complex, systemic problems are not so easily reduced to “us good, them evil; kill them.”

Voting as Fire Extinguisher

When the haunted house catches fire: a moment of indecision.

The house was, after all, built on bones, and blood, and bad intentions.

Everyone who enters the house feels that overwhelming dread, the evil that perhaps only fire can purge.

It’s tempting to just let it burn.

And then I remember:

there are children inside.

I know people won't care because you all assume every country that isn't in the west is automatically homophobic and/or transphobic, but enshrining this bigotry into law, enabling more institutional and state violence is making my heart weep.

for those who do care, Silent Majority is actively fighting against this bill and I do hope people can support them.

ID: a tweet by @/LZReads that says "a SUNY student was suspended yesterday after taking down a zionist banner on campus. he said he would appreciate if people could sign and share his petition as widely as possible: (the above change.ORG petition)"

attached is a photo of the student, a young black man with dark mid length hair, wearing a grey and white keffiyeh and a coat with a furred hood.

end ID

From the text of the petition, it seems this student was physically assaulted by a Zionist administration member too. Quoted:

"The student did not approach Nicholson or threaten him in any way. As the student pulled the banner off, Nicholson stood and approached the student, grabbing them and pushing them to the ground. At this point, the student attempted to leave the office, but once again, Nicholson grabbed and restrained them, growing increasingly aggressive while the student remained nonviolent and called for help. Eventually, a third party stepped in, and the two were separated. The student recorded the entire incident, and the video clearly shows that Nicholson was the ONLY aggressor in this physical confrontation.

The Purchase College administration responded by suspending the student and opening a disciplinary proceeding against them. However, staff member Paul Nicholson has EXPERIENCED NO CONSEQUENCES FOR HIS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR."

award-winning palestinian children's illustrator baraa awoor writes:

"what use is it to be an illustrator of children's books when the world has sentenced the children of your country to the death penalty, to vanish, to genocide?"

some of baraa's illustrations:

this is an illustration for youssef, whose mother is remembered running desperately into the hospital asking if anyone had seen a "small white boy with beautiful curly hair, his name is youssef," a description which was remembered by millions when she finally identified his body:

this illustration is for young omar, who was hugging his little brother and teaching him how to repeat the shahada after him (a prayer spoken by muslims before their death) as he lay on his hospital bed:

"we want a new year that doesn't kill us or our children, we want it a year without blood, without screaming, without pain, we want a new attempt to get our lives back, or something that resembled our life, even if life is a lie we still cling to it, return life to us—a new year's card unlike any other year:"

baraa is currently fundraising to get her family of 12 out of gaza. she is a friend of mine and this is a reputable fundraiser, so please donate if you can. the egyptian government is currently charging upwards of 5,000 USD per person to get to cairo through the rafah border:

"Today marks one year since the death of the People’s Bubbie Shatzi Weisberger. Before she passed, she said, “I’ll fight like hell for a free Palestine until the day I die. Then I’ll keep fighting. Your queer ancestor is with you.”

If you’ve been rising up in solidarity with Palestine these past two months, your queer ancestor is indeed with you, along with countless other antizionist Jewish ancestors. For many, family and community rifts may be especially painful right now. No matter what, you are not alone. Remember that you have a long lineage of elders and ancestors at your back.

Last night, Israel resumed its brutal bombing of Gaza and has already killed dozens of people. Shatzi would encourage all of us to do everything we can right now for a permanent, lasting ceasefire. To mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living.

Shatzi died on World AIDS Day, which was b’sheret ("destined”) because in addition to being a lifelong organizer, she was a nurse for 47 years who cared for people living and dying with AIDS.

From ACT UP’s organizing to end AIDS to the movement for Palestinian freedom, we honor the ancestors and movements who made us possible."

We will be forever grateful to the ancestors who paved the path before us. May their memories fuel us to work towards freedom for all people — no exceptions."

on december 9th, there is a wisconsin all out for palestine rally in madison. i really encourage anyone who is in this state and has the means to travel to madison to show up for this especially as more people are showing "fatigue" for the palestinian cause and social media posts dwindle.

if you're in milwaukee, the local chapter of JVP is arranging transportation help if you dont have a car and the badger bus is also a relatively inexpensive and convenient option, it runs multiple times per day and will take you about 30 mins walking or a quick uber trip to the capital if you select the 'campus and lake' stop.

p.s. i know madison in general is pretty milquetoast + white liberal-y, but the activism and rallies for palestine specifically lately have been extremely well organized, meaningful, actually leftist and abolitionist, calling for more than a ceasefire, and led by/centered palestinian-americans & other SWANA organizers.

please please reblog, even if you're not from here, to boost! already 1 person in wi has learned about this action from THIS POST at less than 100 notes. like Yara Eid said, we must keep fighting for their lives!
