14. How did they initially feel after being embraced? Did they like being reborn into something knew or did it take them a while to cope with their new reality?

Despite the whole rollercoaster during LaCroix's trial, she warmed up to her unlife momentarily! Being dissatisfied with how monotonous her previous life felt in the Big Apple (boring dentist job, the few friends she had drifting away in favor of starting a family,...- all a total yawn for her), this was exactly the kind of turnaround she needed, but the whole "errand girl" thing didn't sit well.

30. Do they have a clan that they do particularly like?

Honestly she's rather neutral towards the ones she encountered thus far. It's neither here nor there, even when it comes to her own clan. There isn't really one she can confidently point to and say "I'm putting you over the rest", but she's the type to judge a kindred as an individual rather than their bloodline.

34. What are their thoughts on blood dolls?

Gretchen feasts on others without consent, finding the chase more thrilling than the catch itself. To her, blood dolls are too easy and don't offer her the excitement she craves. Pouncing on unwilling prey is what fills her and the Beast with that needed kick.

38. Do they care about the taste of blood?

Not really. She's not picky. All blood is valid to her whether it's bland or potent.

48. Detail things about your OC you spent a lot of time on!

Ooooh interesting! I'd say it would be her personality. At first I thought of making her into a stuck-up academic who's stone cold, quiet and obsessed with books, but then I was like naaaah... After musing over it for a bit, she ended up being a chill, goth nerd who isn't afraid to go on a yapping marathon, even while talking to an Elder. She makes a habit of making witty/sarcastic remarks, sometimes in the most inappropriate of situations, which nearly got her in trouble many times back when she was starting out in the Sabbat.

17. What are their thoughts on the Camarilla?

More fake than every silicone pair of tits in all of L.A. combined. Like fuck 'em. Even Regina George shudders at their level of petty. Them denying the existence of antediluvians and Caine is an eyeroll of the ages, like suuure buddy... there's no such thing as greater power that's pulling strings behind the curtain... As for the members, the only exception is Mercurio who ended up being the broest of them all within the organization. It was easier for her to put more trust in a ghoul than another Kindred. They're more approachable and laid back than vamps. There was even a time when she took pride in being Strauss's apprentice, buuut her learnings weren't enough to quench her thirst for power and he was very restrictive when it came to the topic of wielding "dangerous" magic. Her biggest, most spontaneous "fuck you" to wizard Caillou was Gretchen accepting the offer of joining the Sabbat, fucking his enemy then returning to the chantry to show him just how well danger fits her. Though, out of all the enemies she liquidated, there was a pang of unease after killing him in particular, but she got over it, not really wanting to dwell on the faces of her past, especially on those who belonged to the Cam.

19. What are their thoughts on the Sabbat?

Though they have their moments of backstabs, their cause actually makes sense to her. Literally, when you're given the chance to fuck around with the powers you're given, then why hide them and why not free yourself from the elders' grasp over your blood? The Sabbat is truly the sect in which she feels like being her actual self. In the beginning It was a pain to go through the trials of finding her pack before officially earning her place to stand amongst them. It took some getting used to the prospect of doing actual teamwork after dealing with most things on her own prior to joining them. In the end, after giving her all to prove herself, everything worked out alright. Gretchen's Beast is happy, she's made close friends through the Vinculum (to her it's just as valid as any natural friendship), found love with snuff porn addict- Andrei no matter how twisted and deranged, gained access to his nepo baby money in the process, and she also gets to participate in the Sabbat's fun little rites.

20. What are their thoughts on the Anarchs?

Admittedly, Gretchen has some respect for them and digs their spirit, even thinking they're similar to the Sabbat in that sense, but she finds the Anarchs rather too rambunctious. It's cool how they bravely challenge authority and all, but in her eyes there still needs to be at least some form of guidance to balance liberty. They have potential, but their humanity holds them back from being a part of something greater.

2. What faction is your OC? Do they conform to a group or are they independent?

Sabbat loyalist. Ironically, she knows they're just a less "elegant" version of the Camarilla, looking back at the amount of backstabs she's been privy to during her trial for joining a pack. Gretchen wouldn't admit that opinion to anyone there however. As long as they're letting her go bonkers with her Beast whilst having her back, she'll fiercely stick by her sect brothers and sisters without hesitation.

8th gen, though she's looking to lower it further through more diablerie.

7. How did their sire treat them?

Since I'm following the Bloodlines storyline Gretchen is without sire and never got to experience the ups and downs of having one. They've had a romantic history together before his "sudden disappearance". In all those years following his embrace, he longed to leave New York, away from the chantry so he could share his gift with her far away in the west coast and remain there together for some time. So hypothetically, if he had survived the court meeting then he'd actually take his role as her sire very seriously without abusing it, practically treating Gretchen the same way he had been in life, although with a bit more authority. Though regardless, darkness would inevitably find its way to sway her through her newfound power.

25. How often do they cause a masquerade breach?

Very, very often. She's so careless, she may as well draw in a whole SWAT team. Whenever she feels like causing chaos, Gretchen makes sure to do it away from any Sabbat hideouts. Hunters and police would be a heap of trouble she wouldn't want to put her brethren through. Luckily she can prevent her identity from being discovered by activating Blood Shield and/or hiding away in the sewers.

33. Would they like to have a ghoul if they don’t have one?

Mercurio would've definitely been Gretchen's first choice if it weren't for Vaulderie preventing the creation of new blood bonds. After severing his connection to LaCroix, she settled for siring him instead. It took a bit of convincing before he eventually gave in. She's not the kind of Tremere who looks for scholars, but rather trusted friends to pass her blood onto.

For the Palla Grande event hosted by @tzimizce I have chosen, of course, my Tremere Antitribu - Gretchen Grim as my very first entry. This fit heavily leans on tyrian purple (now bathed in warm candlelight hues), golden accents and swords to match.

As for CQM itself, I absolutely recommend giving the Sabbat route a spin and it offers replayability to those who want to come back after finishing their first run. The mod does an astounding job at portraying the Sabbat as more of an organization rather than a mere rodeo of shovelheads (the mod uses an older version of the Unofficial Patch, so if you're going to switch from the 'up to date' vanilla game to cqm, you will notice some differences, but nothing to be alarmed by).

Aw, I'm sorry you get the feeling of alienation and trust me when I say that you're not alone. No matter how often we think it's impossible, there's always someone out there who shares the exact same sentiment of what you're going through. You're never truly alone in this. And Gretchen, although self isolated, still has a few memories tied to her past that keep crawling back, however they're not too common, but they still linger since there's no way to just wipe them out like it's nothing. Her humanity's descent is going to be a little intense, but it'll, at least, help her find comfort in discovering a sense of belonging somewhere, even if the bunch she's hanging with isn't exactly the morally healthiest.
