Thinking about Half-Life.......

"Why, Faraday here is completely harmless! He's got just enough static electricity to make your hair stand on end."
"Alyx, you should take it as a compliment that Faraday decided to bury himself into your hoodie instead of a corpse. Not that we have one of those lying around. Hmm, maybe if.... No, no. Heavens, no."
Not gonna judge anyone for their personal interpretations of fictional characters but it IS wild to me when folks headcanon Gordon Freeman as this dark unhinged murder man when this is how he reacts to holding a big bug in the middle of fighting his way out of a traumatic apocalyptic event

Gabe Newell on Half-Life 3
On February 1, 2019 Gabe Newell, founder of Valve and creator of the iconic Half-Life series gave an interview regarding the future of the company and most importantly, the current direction of the Half-Life franchise. “Times have changed a lot in our company.” Gabe Newell told reporters, “From our small team in 1994 to our massive multi-million dollar company, we have seen nothing but growth and success. Yes, there have been bad patches and rough waters, but through it all we have stuck to what we know to be the heart of our company, turning the valve of creativity and releasing our wonderful ideas into the world for all to enjoy.” Several questions asked about the course of the company have been asked but the one that stood out the most was Kotaku reporter, Brandon Chung, asked about any developments about a third entry into Half-Life, Gabe Newell answered with this.
“For years, we have had many ideas with Half-Life, whether to make a final chapter to Half-Life 2 or to make a third game all together. And for many years fans have wondered and speculated what will happen next. We have thought about making a spin off of the game with Barney, but we lost contact with the original voice actor, and we knew fans would be upset so we decided to hold off on it. We then thought about making a game where you play as Alex Vance but the issue arises where the beauty of half life was that you become immersed in the world because Gordon didn’t have a voice, he was you.” Gabe Newell went over several other ideas before he concluded with his final remarks. “You see, the fact of the matter is, there just isn’t going to be a Half-Life 3 or a Half-Life 2: Episode 3. For years we were afraid of telling the fans the truth, but with the bold actions of companies like Blizzard, we felt like we should come clean with you all. The reason why there wont be a third installment is because, Gordon Freeman, the savior of humanity, is gay. The philosophy of why we make only two installments of games is because men, on average, have two holes in which cocks can enter. Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, everyone is gay.”
The bitches behind the Gordon Freeman model leak came out and naturally you’d want to be mad at them for tricking you but like…

Half-Life has finally concluded-ish
Does that count as a clickbait title? This probably isn’t a “conclusion”, but I honestly can’t think of any other word that fits.
Marc Laidlaw, the lead writer for the Half-Life series, just posted what is essentially the plot for the third episode of Half-Life 2, and possibly the finale of Half-Life. If Searching for Half-Life 3 is any true, there were no indications or plans of having a real Half-Life 3, so this would likely be the finale of the series.
While originally hosted on Laidlaw’s personal site, it has since gone down due to a MASSIVE influx of traffic, so someone has thankfully hosted it on Github along with a handy translation.
Is this canon? Who knows. If the infinitesimally miniscule possibilities come true and Episode 3 comes out, will this be the plot? Who knows. Is Marc posting this out of spite or rebellion? Who knows.
What we do know is that, for some time, this will probably be the only conclusion that Gordon Freeman’s adventures will have. And, at the very least, there’s something bittersweet about finally having something to close the book on. It could’ve been better, or smoother. But, well, it’s here.
Thanks, Marc.
