Turning Around
Obi-Wan Kenobi x reader (platonic)
a/n: good to hear from you again! glad you liked the cal fic 💖😌 hope you like this one!!
prompt: anonymous: “Hey you! Two requests anon here, Tumblr is a hoe and ate my ask 😑 but it was along the lines of a force sensitive that was raised by sith loyalists and disagrees with everything the sith stand for/keeps feeling a pull to the light so she finds her way to the Jedi temple to seek asylum but either Anakin or Obi Wan being the only one to see her as a scared kid instead of a threat and sort of becoming a guardian to her, def not romantic. It's kinda bleh tbh. Also tysm for the Cal one! I loved it!!”
You pulled your hood over your head and slipped out of your quarters, deathly afraid of what may happen if you were to get caught. You hated the way you were raised and you knew exactly how wrong the views of your mentors were. This wasn’t balance, it was a complete takeover. They barely trusted you, you were kept in the dark both literally and figuratively. As you made a break for it, you remembered that it could not get much worse than this.
You’d never left this place before, but somehow you knew exactly where you were going. You just sensed it. You snuck out undetected and when the cool air hit your face, you felt alive. Now, you just ran. Ran and promised you’d never look back.
It took a long time to get to your destination, but the payoff would be amazing. Freedom. The thing you’ve dreamed of your entire life.
You entered the temple with your dark hood still covering your head, the place was quiet and nearly empty, until you ran into a Jedi. Upon sight, you froze up and watched as you caught his eye.
“Excuse me!” The bearded man approached cautiously while you stood as stiff as a boulder. “Hello, young one, I don’t believe we’ve met.” He stood before you and waited for you to remove your hood, which you did, revealing two streams of tears running down your face. The Jedi looked startled by the sight and kneeled down to your height, taking both of your arms. “Oh, my.”
“My-my name is y/n.” You sniffled and wiped your face with your cloak. “I come from a group of Sith, but I’m not like them! I swear I’m not!” You burst into full-on tears and fell to the floor. This Jedi Master had no idea how to respond to your implications.
“Y/N, dear, you must be mistaken. The Sith are extinct.” He sat beside you and tried to comfort you in hysterics.
“That’s what they wanted you to think.” You revealed, shaking and panting. “I wish to help, they wanted me to be like them. I couldn’t do it.” You curled into a ball and sobbed into your knees.
“Okay, okay, dear. Let’s find the Jedi Council and see how they can help, agreed?” The Jedi helped you to your feet and brushed off a few more tears. “My name is Obi-Wan. It’s nice to meet you.”
After that day, Obi-Wan saw to make you the exact opposite of what the Sith loyalists tried to force upon you. Unfortunately, he had his own padawan to mentor, but that did not mean he didn’t care for you. He personally picked out your master and made sure they were to treat you as any other padawan.
You trained vigorously, using your upbringing as encouragement to be a Jedi instead of using it for revenge and proving you would become a powerful Sith. You even had the pleasure of training alongside Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan’s own padawan.
“How is your training coming along, dear y/n?” Obi-Wan asked as you spectated a duel between your peers. The smile that grew on your face told him enough. “That good, yes?”
“I’ve never been happier, Master Kenobi.” You took in a cleansing breath and giggled. It took you a while to laugh after you got here, but the first time you did warmed Obi-Wan’s heart. He was amazed that someone with such a dark childhood could turn out such a bright soul.
“I’m very glad, young one. Keep up the good work. I’m proud of how far you’ve come.” He placed his hand on your shoulder and nodded in approval.
“Thank you, Master Kenobi. For everything.” You watched your peers battle on the training floor and you must admit, it was quite entertaining. One padawan pinned his opponent down, succeeding in this duel. You chuckled as the other opponent stomped off.
“That wasn’t very polite of you.” Master Kenobi chuckled.
“Sorry Master.” You ceased your laughter and saw Obi-Wan shake his head.
“His master may need to focus on the anger, though.” Obi-Wan joked and you both tried to suppress your laughter from collegues and peers. “Okay, okay, that’s enough. I’ll see you soon, y/n. Take care.”
