In Hiding

Eleven Hopper x reader

warnings:

a/n: since el is like,,,,,13 im gonna make this more platonic leaning! also, i usually only take 1 or 2 diologue prompts per request, but i’ll narrow it down to three, sorry!! hope this is okay 💖 (and dont worry, i made it gender neutral for u)

prompt: anonymous: “4,8,10,15 angst eleven x reader (gender neutral if you can do it!) Please!!!”// 4. “Why are you lying to me?”, 8. “Nobody’s seen you in days.”, 10. “I’m worried about you.”

You knocked on the door to Hopper’s cabin and tapped your foot while you waited for the door to be unlocked, straightening you posture when you heard the deadbolt click. Chief Hopper swung the door open for you and let out a sigh of relief.

“Great, y/n, you’re here. Come in, come in.” He unblocked the doorway and you wandered inside, taking a quick look around to see if El was out, she wasn’t.

“She’s..?” You quietly asked as you turned back to your best friend’s dad and watched him rub his face, he looked exhausted.

“Her room, she won’t let me in.” He weakly pointed to her door and stomped into the kitchen. You took in a breath of courage and marched to El’s door, lifted you fist to knock, and gave it a go.

“Hey, El. It’s, uh...it’s y/n.” You placed your forehead on the wooden door and listened to the muffled music on the radio. “Can I come in, please? I’m worried about you.” After you finished your sentence, the door flung open and you fell forward. You regained your balance and saw Eleven sitting in her pajamas with a few comic books spread across her bed.

“Close the door.” She mumbled and pushed the comics aside to make room for you on the bed. You respected her wishes and kicked the door closed, then sat down beside her.

“Nobody’s seen you in days, El. What’s the matter?” You brought your knees onto the bed and studied her tired facial expression, she was avoiding eye contact with you. Her hair was matted and covered her face, you knew something was wrong.

“I’m okay. I’m just...tired.” She tried to tell you, but you saw tears welling up in her eyes. El wiped them away as fast as possible, but you were no fool.

“Why are you lying to me?” You asked in all seriousness, catching her off-guard. Her head snapped straight to you and she looked you in the eyes. You tried to force a chuckle to ease the tension, but it may have been too late. “I know you, Eleven. You’re my best friend. Just tell me what’s going on!” You urged her and reached for both her hands. “I promise it will stay between us.”

Your use of “promise” brought a smile to her face. She knew that you meant it, and she realized that you just wanted what was best for her. She gulped, knowing that talking about her issue would make her cry a little...or a lot.

“I really hate being here.” You watched her lip quiver and her voice started to crack. “I love Hop! It came out wrong.” El paused and wiped her face with her shoulder, she didn’t want to let go of your hands. “I want to go out without feeling...sorry?”

“You feel guilty going out?” You realized what she meant and your heart broke a little bit.

“Yes.” Eleven nodded and sniffled. Before she knew it, you wrapped your arms around her and gave her the warmest hug she had recieved.

“I can’t do much about you leaving the house right now, you know Hopper’s only trying to keep you safe...” You felt her nod against your shoulder. “But if you want, I could probably spend the night?” You suggested and she gasped, grabbed each of your shoulders and pulling away.

“Yes, please!” Her sorrowful look was replaced by joy and she hopped out of bed to celebrate. “I stink. I have to take a shower.” She ran out of the room and right past Hopper, who was both confused and glad to see her skipping to the bathroom. You popped your head out of her room and grinned.

“It’s cool if I spend the night, right?” You asked and Hopper’s cheeks grew when he smiled.

“Come here, kid. Give me a hug.” He opened his arms and you laughed at his enthusiasm. “Thank you.”

“Anytime, Chief.”

Second Cousins?

Byers x second cousin!reader

warnings:

a/n: THIS IS SUCH A REACH LMAO BARE WITH ME I LITERALLY HAD TO LOOK AT A CHART btw you’re about jonathans age? ig? idk but this is NOT romantic that’s frickin gross. p.s. horowitz is winona ryders name

prompt:

You crawled out of bed to the sound of your dad screaming for you. What time was it?

12:38pm

Great. You slept the whole day and now you have to help your extended family move in immediately. You rolled off your mattress and scrambled to get some clothes. You hadn’t seen this side of the family since Christmas of 1978!

You’d regret not eating breakfast, but not yet. You walked outside, pushing your hair from your face and waiting for your family to exit their respective cars. Your “first-cousin-once-removed,” Joyce, got out first. (You just call her “Aunt Joyce”).

“Hey, guys! Long time no see.” She smiled. “Oh, my god, y/n. Is that you?” She walked up to you and gave you a hug.

“Hey there, Aunt Joyce. We’ve missed you a whole lot.” You looked over her shoulder and saw a younger girl, maybe 13 or 14. You’d never seen her in your life. Her eyes were definitely tear stained, her hair falling out of her scrunchie, and the sleeves on her flannel rolled up. “Who’s the girl?”

“Oh, uh, that would be El. She’s a...‘new addition’ to our family.” Joyce put in air quotes.

“Wicked. I’d love to get to know her better.” You stuck your hands in your pockets and watched the boys get out of their car. “I’d like to catch up with the boys, too. It’s been years. I mean, I know we talk on the phone every once in a blue moon, but this is so exciting! You guys are gonna be living with us now!”

“Only for a little while.” She sighed.

“We’ll make the most of it.” You gave her another hug and moved towards the boys.

“Jonny Byers. You got taller.” You joked with him.

“Bring it in.” He welcomed you with open arms.

“What’s up, kiddo?” You gave Will a high five. “You still drawing that cool ass art?”

“Yeah, I have a ‘portfolio’ now. Jonathan made me put one together.” Will snickered.

“Hey, artists need them. I have one for my pictures.” Jonathan reasoned.

“Well, Will, when you’re all settled in, you’re gonna have to sit me down and show me what you’ve got. You know, I still have that picture you drew me last time I saw you.” You told him.

“Really? I was like, seven.” He shook his head.

“Yeah, seven and truly gifted.” You turned your attention to your other “second cousin,” “And as for you, I’ve got all those old vinyls and some new ones, too. What about you?”

“I have more cassette’s than vinyls, but I’ll make sure we have time to share.” He punched your arm.

“That’s what I like to hear. Now let’s go help your mom and El unload the truck.” You turned around and Will and Jonathan followed you.

“Oh, you heard about El?” Will asked.

“Your mom said she was a ‘new addition to the family.’” You quoted.

“Yeah, that’s a pretty accurate description.” Will nodded. “She’s shy, I wouldn’t push her into conversation.”

“Noted.” You picked up a box and carried it inside. There were two spare rooms. One for Joyce and El and one for the boys. Good thing they didn’t mind sharing. You put the box into Joyce’s room, then headed right for the truck. The next box was labeled “HOPPER.” You lifted it up and an your way into the house, you ran into El.

“I can take that one.” She told you quietly.

“You sure?” You raised your eyebrows and she nodded. You handed her the box and went back to the truck.

“Hey, Horowitz, wanna help me grab this mattress?” Jonathan asked. You jogged up to hig and grabbed one side. “Got it? Alright, be careful.” You guys got the mattress inside, and then the other two.

“Alright, what’s next?” You asked.

“I’m actually kinda hungry.” Jonathan wiped the sweat off his forehead. “What about you?”

“Starving. Go round the gang up, I know a great place to get some lunch.” You told him. Jonathan went around and got all of the family together. There was only six of you. You, dad, Joyce, El, Jonathan, and Will. You all squeezed into one car and hit the road. Really, it was only a 10 minute drive.

“This was my Grandma Darlene’s favorite place to eat before she passed away. We always sit at her booth.” You told your cousins in the back seat. El was in between Joyce and your dad in the front. “Ooh! We’re here.”

You approached the door and your dad opened it up for everyone. You waved at the waitresses you had known so well and went to your usual spot. You each picked up a menu as the waitress asked for drinks.

Water for you, coffee for your dad, water for Jonathan, Sprite for Will, Diet Pepsi for Joyce, and lemonade for El.

“So, boys, what’s been going on in Hawkins? Any significant people or events you wanna talk about?” You questioned the boys.

“Well, Jonathan’s got a girlfriend who leaves lipstick marks all over his face.” Will taunted.

“Oh, shut it.” Jonathan pulled his straw up and took a sip of his drink. “Yeah, her name is Nancy. We’ve been together for almost a year. She’s a badass.”

“How so?” You bit down on a piece of ice.

“She’s determined to get what she wants. We had an internship at the local newspaper and she was an assistant, but she really wanted to be a reporter. She did every possible thing she could to do it. Followed stories, wrote them, suggested topics in meetings...” Jonathan gushed.

“And did she get to be a reporter?” You asked, turning your head sideways.

“No, she actually got us fired.” He chuckled. “But she stood up for herself, that’s why I love her.”

“She sounds great, will she be visiting you soon?” You asked him. “I’d love to show her the embarrassing pictures of us with marker all over our backs and faces when you lived here in ‘73. And the pictures of you pretending to be Super-Man. Can’t forget those ones.”

“Oh, my god, you still have those?” He laughed. “Yes, she’s visiting on Thanksgiving with her brother, Mike.” El’s head perked up. “Mike is Will’s best friend...and El’s boyfriend.”

“Is that so?” You smiled and turned to her. “What’s he like?”

“He’s...funny. And awkward. And a nerd.” She mumbled to you.

“He sounds very pleasant. Can’t wait to meet him.” You winked at her and she gave you a sweet little smile. You were very curious to hear what she had to say.

The waitress came back to take your orders. You and your dad got your usuals, Jonathan got a hamburger, El and Will got hot dogs, and Joyce got soup.

“You guys should try the rice pudding afterwards, it’s really good!” You told them and your dad rolled his eyes. “It is!”

“Pudding with rice in it?” El asked.

“Seriously, you gotta have some.” You told her. “I love it cold with cinnamon on it.” Your cousins were staring at you curiously. “C’mon, if you don’t eat it, I will.”

“Darlene loved her rice pudding.” Joyce chuckled. “You know, you look just like her.”

“I tell y/n that every day.” Your dad said. “It’s the eyes, I swear.”

“And the nose.” Joyce added.

“Oh, yeah.” Your dad agreed. The waitress came with rice pudding for everyone but your dad. Joyce ate it without a question, she had it every holiday with your grandma growing up. Your cousins (including El) stared at it hesitantly, then each took a bite. Jonathan remembered eating it once and hating it. Will spit it out. El took a second bite.

“Like it, El?” You asked.

“Not bad.” She actually managed to finish it.

“Sweet.” You did the same. “Anyone wanna make brownies tonight, or something?”

“Me!” El lit up. You were happy that she was warming up to you so fast.

“Sounds like a plan, we’ll make them from scratch.”

Expecting

Steve Harrington x Hopper!reader

warnings: pregnancy

a/n: i added the 2 requests together bc they’re similar <3

prompt: @depressed-comics: “Sweet beans can I request a Steve Harrington x Reader were the reader is Hopper's daughter, and she also happens to be pregnant. Now this is like a couple years after the battle of Startcourt mall and Hopper is still alive. But basically Steve and the reader goes and tells Hopper the good news (which at first he wasn't happy but secretly he was excited), and then they tell there other kids. And Eleven ask them both were do babies come from so they have to explain to her. Then fast forward to him months later the whole party meets Steve and the reader's baby

anonymous: “could i get a steve harrington x hopper!reader (hop and joyce dating ? possibly ?)where they tell hop joyce and el that they are pregnant over dinner ? please

You had scheduled a family dinner with the whole Hopper gang. Steve and you had big news! Things in your family’s life had settled down after the last couple of years, but they were about to get a whole lot more interesting now.

Joyce cooked dinner and El helped set the table. Hopper was in charge of staying out of the way because last time they let him cook, he burned the fries and threw the pan out the front door. He ended up tidying the house a little. He had to make it look nice for his babygirl. There was a knock at the door and Hop rushed to answer. The door flung open and you and Steve stood there with a plate of cookies and a bottle of whiskey. You dad pulled you into a giant bear hug.

“It’s good to see you, honey.” He told you.

“You, too. I only saw you two days ago to go bowling. It’s been too long.” You joked sarcastically. Hopper gave Steve a hug and Steve handed him the gifts.

“Oh, perfect! Let’s break this out for dinner.” Your dad walked to the kitchen and got out a few glasses. You greeted El and Joyce with a hug and helped them set out the food. Once everything was in order, you finally got to sit down with your family and have a nice meal. “So, y/n, what’s new?” Hop asked. You hadn’t touched your glass of whiskey, and he was a little suspicious. Steve eyed you, wondering if you were going to break the news.

“Oh, nothing. Work’s good, the dog’s a handful, Steve and I are working on the house.” You told your dad, and he smiled proudly. Steve let a silent sigh of relief escape his lips and you grabbed his hand under the table. He squeezed you hand tight, you could feel his leg bouncing underneath the table.

“How’s the house coming along?” Joyce asked. “I’d love to see it sometime!” She took a bite of her lasagna.

“We’d love for you guys to come over soon, that’d be great. Then we could be the hosts for a change.” Steve laughed nervously, trying to distract himself from the truth bomb about to drop.

“You haven’t touched your glass yet, is something wrong?” Your dad asked. You stared blankly at him.

“Oh, no, I just want to be sober for the drive home.” You explained. Your dad nodded and went back to his plate. “So El, how’s home schooling?”

“Almost done!” She gave a triumphant smile to the table. The five of you finished your plates and sat around the table, talking and joking around with each other. Now was the best time to share the news.

“Ready?” Steve asked, placing a hand on your shoulder. You nodded. “We have an announcement...” Hop, Joyce, and El went silent, staring at the pair of you.

“We’re pregnant!” You told your family. Joyce and El cheered and got up to hug you.

“Congratulations, sweetie!” Joyce cupped your face. “You’re gonna make a wonderful mother.” El was ecstatic, she was going to be an aunt!

“Y/N, where do babies come from?” She asked you innocently. You and Joyce stared at El with your eyebrows furrowed and eyes wide. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I just wanted to get a reaction!” You all burst into laughter, but quickly realized you dad hadn’t said a word yet. All he did was grab you glass of whiskey and down it as fast as he could, then stare at the table, hands folded together.

“Steve, can I speak to you outside?” Your dad muttered and got out of his chair. Steve gulped and followed him out the door. You, your sister, and Joyce sat near the TV and talked about all different kinds of details regarding your pregnancy.

“If you need anything at all, come to me. I’ve had two kids, I know a lot about the miracle of birth and all that other stuff. Development and care? Got it. Anything you need.” She assured. You were glad to have her. And your sister was curious to see how this would go, she hadn’t ever held a baby before, so that was her main focus.

Meanwhile, on the porch:

“So you got my daughter knocked up?” Hopper paced back and forth.

“Not—Not exactly, sir. I mean, no, it wasn’t planned, but now we have a plan.” Steve explained to his father-in-law.

“And what is that plan?” Hopper towered over your husband.

“Raise the kid, love the kid, be there for the kid.” He told your father. “That’s what matters to me.” Hopper started pacing again. “Look, Mr. Hopper, you’re gonna be a grandpa! Popper! Grandhop! Whatever you want to be called!” Hopper froze and turned toward Steve. He approached his son-in-law and pulled him into a hug.

“You’re gonna be a great dad, Harrington.” Hop whispered in his ear. Steve hugged back.

“Thank you.” The two of them came back inside and your dad headed straight towards you to congratulate you and give you the biggest hug he could. “Don’t hurt the baby!” Steve joked. Your dad cried, you cried, Joyce cried, Steve cried, El was just super excited. Couldn’t even wipe the smile off her face. You said your goodbyes to your dad and the rest of your family and headed back home. You were happy with the outcome of tonight. “So, we tell the children tomorrow morning and my parents tomorrow night?” He asked.

“Sounds about right.”

—————

You had all the kids gather at Dustin’s house. His mom had basically taken you and Steve in because Dustin was always making you guys come over. Everyone sat together in the living room. Ms. Henderson, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Max, Mike, and El. She wanted to hear the news again and brag about how she got to know first.

“Alright guys, drumroll, please.” Dustin started beating on his legs. “Y/N’s pregnant!” Steve announced. Everyone immediately started losing their shit. El was contently watching the crowd go wild.

“Does that mean I get to be an uncle?” Dustin asked.

“You’re my son, Dustin. You’re the kid’s brother.” Steve explained.

“I’m gonna be an uncle!” Dustin jumped on the couch.

“Dusty! What did I tell you about shoes on the couch?” Ms. Henderson warned.

“Sorry mom!” Dustin sat next to Steve and talked about how excited he was. Max sat next to you and couldn’t contain her excitement.

“You’re not playing a joke on us, right?” She asked and you shook your head. “Good, because this is awesome!” She shook you around playfully. “I can be an aunt, right?”

“Yes, you can be an aunt.” You approved and Max began to cheer.

“Why isn’t El jumping around with us?” She asked.

“We told El last night, she just came here to rub in the fact that she knew first.” Steve grabbed your hand.

“Are you ready to go? We’ve gotta get ready for dinner at my parents place. You know they like to start early.” He told you. You said goodbye to your family of delinquents and got in the car. You quickly started crying. “Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” Steve grabbed your hand and leaned towards you.

“Nothing, I’m just excited. Soon were gonna have an actual child. And it’s gonna grow and be like them. And I love them. I cant wait.”

—————

Everyone was gathered in the hospital, waiting for Steve to come with some news. He finally ran out the double doors and met with the group.

“So? Tell us everything!” Lucas exclaimed. Hopper and Joyce were beaming and getting a little impatient, they wanted to see their grandbaby!

“It’s a girl! Eight pounds, five ounces. Tiny toes, little nose. Guys, I’m gonna cry!” Steve jumped around. Everyone hoarded around him to give him the biggest hug they could muster. “I’ve gotta get back to y/n! You’ll be able to see the baby soon!” He ran back to you and awaited the baby’s return from her checkup. After a while, the baby was back and Steve brought everyone in to see her. They were all in awe of how adorable she was. You knew how much El was wanting to hold her, so you carefully handed her over while Steve helped.

“Does she have a name?” Joyce asked, teary eyed.

“Still haven’t got that figured out yet...”

Protective Dad (Part 4)

Steve Harrington x Hopper!fem!reader

warnings:

a/n: is it bad that the hopper gif is putting makeup on him?? like what they do to bodies at open casket funerals??? is that offensive oh god. (even tho they didn’t find his body but still) also it was too hard to write the funeral bc it was SAD so i got distracted

prompt: @melxoxo23: “A story where the reader is hoppers daughter and dating Steve. And include Joyce. Maybe with some angst? And a happy ending! Please and thank you!!!”

You had stayed with Steve for the next few nights. Your sister went to stay with Ms. Byers while you sorted out the situation with your dad. You and him didn’t have much family, just your mom. You hadn’t seen your mom since about three years after your sister, Sara, died. To meet your half-sister. You decided to call her about your dad’s passing and invite her to the funeral you were planning. The whole town was going to be there.

The phone rang once, rang twice, and again. Then it stopped and someone picked up.

“Hello?” She answered.

“Mom? It’s y/n.” Your tone was hard to read, you were trying not to break down. Steve leaned on the wall and kept you company.

“Y/N! Oh, I’ve missed your voice. How are you?” Your mom asked.

“Could you come to Hawkins this weekend?” You fidgeted with the phone cord.

“What? Is everything okay?” She asked, concerned.

“Um, no. No, not really.” Your voice cracked and Steve rested a hand on your arm. “It’s about dad. I don’t really want to go into detail. It’ll be in the paper by tomorrow.”

“I’ll...yeah, I’ll be in town by Friday. I love you.” You hung up the phone and burst into tears, falling into Steve’s arms. He stroked your hair, hushing you softly.

“I know it’s hard, y/n. I know it is, but you’re strong as hell. You’re handling it better than most. I’ll be with you for all of this, you know that.” Steve looked into your eyes. “You can do this.” You started crying harder and buried your face into his chest.

“I have an appointment at the funeral home at 4.” Your voice was muffled.

“Do you want me to come?” Steve asked.

“Please?” You asked. He nodded.

“I’ll go make you a sandwich. Go sit on the couch for a few minutes.” You moped over to the couch and laid down. After taking a few deep breaths, it helped nothing. You grabbed a pillow and cried into it. Meanwhile, Steve was in the kitchen, grasping to the counter. He didn’t want to show his weakness in front of you, especially with how bad you were taking in. Tears streamed down his face, but he wiped them away and proceeded to making you lunch. “Lunch is served!” Steve emerged from the kitchen with two plates. You took your face off the damp pillow and reached for a plate. It broke Steve’s heart to see how awful you were taking this.

—————

The funeral was all taken care of. Flowers and food and people and all that. Tomorrow was the dreaded day, but today your mom was scheduled to arrive. You gave her Steve’s address, and she showed up with her new husband and your half-sister.

“Seriously, you brought Bill?” You asked as she pulled you into a hug.

“He insisted to come, I’m sorry. How’re you holding up, dear?” She kissed your forehead.

“Bad.” You were fighting back tears. Steve grabbed your hand and squeezed it. “Mom, this is Steve, my boyfriend.”

“It’s nice to meet you.” Steve extended his hand to shake. Bill and your sister, Megan, climbed the stairs. You leaned down to Meg. She grasped onto her mom.

“Sorry, she’s a little shy. She knows who you are though, isn’t that right?” You mom nudged your sister forward.

“Hey sweetie, I haven’t seen you since you were a baby.” You smiled at the innocent little girl. You didn’t know why Bill wanted to come so bad, he could’ve stayed with Meg and she wouldn’t have to witness these sad, sad days. Steve showed the family to the guest room and helped unload their car. Once finished, he saw you in the kitchen, looking upset in more ways than one.

“Babe, you okay?” Steve approached cautiously.

“Why the hell would she bring her new husband and her kid who can’t and doesn’t need to wrap her head around loss. The poor thing doesn’t know what’s going on.” You balled your fists and Steve sighed, pulling you into a hug that got cut short.

“Oh, sorry, am I interrupting? Y/N, do you wanna go to Benny’s diner tonight? Just me and you?” She leaned on the threshold of the room.

“Benny died two years ago. We could go to a different diner?” You proposed.

“Oh, yeah, sure. What about the downtown one?” She asked.

“That one works. We’ll leave at 6.” She nodded and walked back to the guest room. “I feel like I don’t know her anymore, Steve. She never calls, never writes, never visits. She’s too busy with her new family, she can’t find any time with her firstborn.” You bit your lip to stop from crying anymore.

—————

Your mom started the car and asked for directions to get downtown. It had been a while since she had been in Hawkins. The pair of you walked in and sat yourselves. The waitress came over to take your drink orders.

“Hey, y/n, what can I get for you?” She asked, pulling her order pad out.

“Water.” You looked over the menu.

“And for you, miss?” She turned to your mother.

“Coffee.” The waitress wrote your drinks down and walked to the kitchen. You and your mom sat silently. “So, sweetie. How long have you and Steve been together?”

“A little over a year.” You flipped the page of your menu.

“He seems nice.” You nodded, not looking up. “I’m sorry I haven’t seen you in a while. It’s just, there’s a lot going on at home. You understand, right?” She reached for your hand.

“It’s fine, mom. I’m just trying to get through the weekend.” The waitress came back to take your orders, and you handed her your menu. Your mom talked about taking care of Meg, life with her new husband, and how perfect everything was. You tried to smile through the whole thing. She didn’t even show up to your high school graduation, but she was pretending like she hadn’t left the side of her oldest child. It had been almost four years since you’ve seen her. A lot has happened in four years, a lot of things you legally couldn’t talk about.

You recieved your food and ate as much as you could. Your appetite was at an all time low since the passing of your father. Your mom was talking about Bill, but you couldn’t exactly tune in. Your mind was flooded about all the possibilities of tomorrow. Of course El would be there, and you couldn’t tell anyone about how she was your adopted sister. You were going to visit the Byers tonight and give them the run down, then call the rest of the kids and let them know what your little lie was.

“Y/N? Are you alright?” Your mom snapped you out of your trance. “I paid the bill, do you wanna head back to Steve’s?” You scooted out of the booth and followed your mom to the car. When you got to Steve’s, you took his car over to Joyce’s to check on her and your sister, and explain the story you’d tell about El. You knocked on the door and heard a “come in.” When you opened the door, you saw all the kids sitting on the couch. That saved you a couple of phone calls. Joyce walked out of the kitchen and once she saw you, she rushed over to give you a hug.

“How are you, sweetie?” She moved a strand of your hair behind your ear.

“As good as I can be.” You answered. El walked into the room and dropped what was in her hands to run and hugged you tightly. “Hey, sweetie.” You relaxed a bit after she hugged you. “How you doing?” El gave you a weak shrug. “Well, I hate to rush but I have to get home soon. I just wanted to tell you guys the cover story about El. Make sure everyone who needs to know, knows.” You sat on the couch beside Max. “If anyone asks, El is my second cousin. Her dad couldn’t make it. When she visits, you guys hang out sometimes. That’s how you know her. The fake dad’s name? Let’s make it Richard. Got it?” They exchanged looks and nodded. Joyce and El walked you out. “Hey, El, I’m going to the cabin to salvage what we can on Sunday, you wanna come?” She nodded and the two of them engulfed you in a hug. You got in the car and backed out of the driveway. On your way back to Steve’s, you broke down. Upon arrival, you walked into the house without a word, went to the bathroom to take a shower and let your emotions pour out. You just couldn’t stop crying, and you cried so hard it hurt. The hot water fogged the whole bathroom up, making it hard to breathe. It was late and you were exhausted, you could’ve passed out in the shower right then and there. You shut the water off, grabbed a towel, and went to Steve’s room. He was already asleep, so you quietly dressed and crawled into bed. He felt your presence and pulled you closer to him. You passed out almost immediately.

—————

You pulled on your black dress and tights, then helped Steve get ready. You tied his tie and put his jacket on him. He kissed you softly.

“Are you ready?” He wrapped his arms around your hips and you rested your forehead on his, shaking your head slightly. “Hey, it’ll be alright, I’ll be with you the whole time.” It was time to go, and you decided to take a separate car than your mom. You arrived at the cemetery and met with the pastor. The whole town was there. You could feel yourself shaking, but you ignored it. Powell and Callahan came over to you and talked to you for a bit, which made you feel better. Then your mom showed up.

“Is that...is that Diane? I haven’t seen her since high school.” Callahan remarked.

“Yeah, she stayed with Steve and I last night. I still can’t believe she brought her husband. He hasn’t spoken a word to me.” The three of you watched as your mom greeted her old friends. El caught sight of you and ran to hug you, tears welling up in her eyes. You brought her over to stand in front with you as the funeral started. It was a sunny day, hotter with all the black you were wearing. You forgot your sunglasses, which would’ve helped hide your puffy eyes. They had to bury an empty casket, which only made you more upset. You never thought it would have to be like this. Your mom caught sight of Sara’s hairtie on El’s wrist, but said nothing. It wasn’t the time. Joyce stood behind you with a hand rested on your’s and your sister’s shoulder. You held onto El’s hand the whole funeral, Steve stood next to you, hands behind his back, and tears dripping from his chin the the ground. You and El were sobbing loudly, but you stopped caring.

—————

You mom had left, so you could finally visit the cabin. The place was a wreck, and water damaged from the storms the other night. You salvaged what you could. Took important files, sentimental items, and clothes. You found El’s birth certificate and made sure to keep it safe. You gave El a suitcase and a few boxes to get her things into. After rummaging through the wreckage for a few minutes. You found a stack of photo albums. Pictures of you, your dad, your mom, Sara, and El. You sat down and flipped through them. The memories it brought back were heartwarming and sad. The time you snuck El out for Halloween, family dinner with Steve, you and Sara at the park, El trying to ride a bike, you and your dad making a cake for El’s birthday, you and El dancing around the living room. Just wonderful times, the times that you weren’t fighting for your life or fleeing from death. El noticed you had stopped looking around and went to see what you were doing. She saw a picture of you, her, and Hop at Christmas-time and began to choke back tears. You both started to cry again. You missed your dad with every second that went by, and you knew it would take a while for anything to get easier. You shut the book and turned to your sister, teary eyed.

“Need any help?”

Protective Dad (Part 3)

warnings:

a/n: this is kinda everywhere, might continue when st4 is out in like 2 years. also it’s kinda like bad bc its less steve and more storyline. guys should i make part 4 the funeral???? lmk

prompt: @melxoxo23: “A story where the reader is hoppers daughter and dating Steve. And include Joyce. Maybe with some angst? And a happy ending! Please and thank you!!!”

Steve had been MIA for almost a day now, in addition to Robin and his young friend, Dustin. Your dad hadn’t been seen since the morning you left in a rage. The band of children took you in as one of their own after they explained to you the situation about the big bad monster coming back. Third time’s the charm. You never thought you’d have deal with it again, but it had been a while since anything bad had happened in Hawkins, it was only a matter of time. It didn’t explain why your boyfriend and your dad were yet to be seen.

Your sister, El, was on edge and very upset with Mike. Looks like dad got what he wanted.

The kids and you went around town for a while, trying to do whatever in your path to kill the Mind Flayer for good. You finally looped back around and made it to your cabin, and that’s when disaster struck.

El searched for the Mind Flayer, and it ended up finding her and attacking. It destroyed your cabin and in the midst of chaos, knocked you straight into a wall, hitting your head and opening a gash for blood to pour out of. That wasn’t as bad as what your sister got, though. It was a nasty-looking bite. You were oddly calm with all destruction around you, but it was time to book it since El was injured.

To the convenience store you went, to take care of your sister’s leg, you must. The group of nerve-ridden teens rushed around the store, taking anything they found useful. Max and you patched El up to the best of your abilities. Dustin had patched through the radio for about a minute, and you knew something was off. Your sister searched for Dustin and told the group where he was, then you were on your way.

“Are you sure that he said ‘gate?’” You asked her. “I mean, he is at the movies. I think he could’ve said great. I don’t know. It’s so confusing. How’s your leg?” You were rambling.

“Hurts.” El told you. Her leg was propped up on your lap. You had taken some ice from the store and wrapped it in a towel, trying to bring the swelling down. Jonathan had turned sharply, causing El to gasp in pain.

“Sorry, sorry, everyone alright?” He asked.

“We’re fine, just keep going!” You comforted your sister. Finally, you arrived at Starcourt and everyone piled out of the car and made a run for the mall. El was hobbling, poor thing. But she powered through it and rushed inside.

—————

A car flew across the food court, and the dishelved group running from evil Russians came to a halt. Your group merged with Dustin’s and everyone reunited. You saw your boyfriend and ran into his arms.

“Oh, thank God you’re okay.” You held him tight.

“What happened to your head?” Steve investigated your injury. You pushed his hand away and tenderly rested your hand on his cheek.

“Are you kidding me, Steve? What happened to your face?” You stared at his massive swollen eye, wishing you could do something to help it.

“Well, it’s a long story,” he shrugged, “secret elevator, child endangerment, Russians, interrogation, getting drugged, making a break for it. It’s been a long day.” He chuckled through the pain. Then El let out a groan of pain and fell to the floor. You rushed to her side.

“It’s my leg!” They pulled the bandages off and watched as something underneath her leg move about. Robin was trying to distract everyone, including herself, while Jonathan found a knife to open the wound. Your sister screaming in pain as the knife sliced through her skin. She used her powers to remove the parasite while everyone watched in fear and disgust. It crawled away, but not before a boot squashed it. You all looked up to see the adults arrive.

“Dad?” You asked in disbelief. It’d only been two or three days since you’d seen him, but it felt like a lifetime. He came to you and El and engulfed you in a hug.

“I’m never letting you two leave the cabin again.” He joked. You laughed weakly.

“Yeah, about the cabin...” You sighed and avoided eye contact.

“Destroyed.” Lucas cut in. “Mind Flayer came through, it’s barely standing.” Hopper got up and exhaled deeply.

“Alright, catch us up.” He comforted El while the rest of the group walked the adults through the crazy last few days.

Steve explained what happened with the Russians, not even in complete detail, but every word of it made you tense up a little more. You wished you could’ve been there for him. His swelling had gone down some, but he was still covered in puke and blood. Everyone was arguing over how the plan should go, and you had your ideas, too.

“Dustin, Erica, Steve, Robin, y/n,” Your dad listed, “these are the keys to the car I borrowed.” Hopper handed the keys to Steve, and Joyce rolled her eyes at Hops half truth. “Go to wherever this kid says his radio station is.” You nodded in acceptance. “Steve, y/n, I’m putting you in the same group so you’re not worried about each other, got it?”

“Yes, dad. We got it.” You almost left, but hesitated and ran back to your dad. You hugged him tightly and whispered: “Please be careful, love you.” He hugged you back and smiled weakly.

“Don’t worry, kiddo. And I love you, too.” You went over to El, who was waiting for Murray to finish briefing Jonathan and Nancy on the locks.

“Hey, hun, be safe. I’ll see you soon.” You gave her a gentle hug, making sure not to hurt her. “Love you.” She hugged back and returned your words. You stroked her hair and ran back to Steve, you had to get communications up!

“Now this is what I’m talking about!” Steve cheered when he saw the car your dad stole borrowed. You called shotgun and Steve hit the gas. You turned the radio on as a little distraction. Steve reached for your hand and grasped it tight. “Everything will be alright, baby.” All you could think about was your dad and your sister. The scenarios you were thinking in your head were awful. Dustin and Robin were talking about his maybe made-up girlfriend, and suddenly he yelled at Steve to turn into the dirt. Steve complied and the incline of the hill was too much for the “Toddfather.” You hopped out and ran upwards while the others followed.

—————

You and Steve told the stories of the last few eventful days. You cringed as he described in full detail what brutal things he went through. He kept fixating on the little gash in your forehead, you don’t know how. The poor thing was bruised and bloody all over. But he was so worried about you. He kissed the top of your head and pulled you close.

“When this is all over, you could probably stay at my place since your cabin got destroyed.” Steve assured you.

“I don’t wanna even think about it right now.” You rested your head on his shoulder. He hummed and held you, trying to take in the quiet, calm moment. Until he looked at the town and saw the lights of Starcourt flashing, meaning the Mind Flayer was closing in.

“Guys...” Steve motioned to the blinking lights of the mall. Dustin called to the “Griswold Family,” but all the radio would transmit was loud growls. Steve made his way back to the car to save the day, and you followed. “Wait, y/n, you should stay here.” He told you.

“No way, I’m coming with you. Start the car.” You hopped in, and Robin climbed in the back. Steve didn’t have the time to protest. He started the car and booked it for Starcourt.

“Your dad’s gonna kill me of you get hurt.” He mumbled. After a few long minutes of speeding down the road, Steve collided with Billy’s car in the parking lot. You held on tight to the door of the car and the Toddfather spun. Steve checked on his passengers and watched in horror and shock as the Mind Flayer scaled the mall. A horn from Nancy’s car blared as they pulled up beside you, shouting for you to get in. Your half of the Scoops Troop combined forces with the Griswold Family. Once secure in the trunk, you let out a sigh of relief...and then looked out the window to see the monster chasing you. Dustin’s serenade was enough to keep your spirits up for two minutes or so.

The monster finally turned around, which meant you were turning around, too. Back to the mall you went. There were helicopter support teams heading the same way. Something was going down. By the time you got there, the Mind Flayer was down and emergency services was taking care of your friends. Steve and you got check ups, and you rushed to El to make sure she was okay. She most definitely was not, she told you everything. She hugged you as tight as she possibly could, not wanting to let go. Steve was with Robin, watching as you and your sister comforted each other. But this wasn’t the end of your bad night. You and El saw as Will ran up to his mom. She looked at you with tears streaming down her face, staring at you and your sister, shaking her head. That’s when you realized what happened. You burst into tears and fell to the ground, Steve ran towards you and grabbed you. El was shaking her head, denying the impossible.

“Hey, hey, I’ve got you. Don’t worry, I’ve got you.” He comforted. “I’m sorry, y/n, I’m so sorry.” Steve let out some of his own tears. He invited El into the hug. She gave in and unleashed her emotions. What were you to do? What was she to do? You were blindsided and nobody had even spoke the truth yet. They didn’t have to. “You two can stay at my house for the next few days, just come and stay. I’ll be here for you.” He assured. When you had finally calmed down as much as you could, you sat still and silent on the pavement, holding your sister’s hand tight. Steve decided it was best to walk away for a moment and give you some time to process before he took you to his place. He shakily headed towards Robin.

“Everything alright?” She asked regretfully. Steve shook his head, swallowing back tears.

“No, no it’s not.” He broke, feeling bad that he was upset over your loss. Tears poured down his face. “She lost her dad, Robin. I can’t imagine what she’s going through. I hate that I’m crying because I don’t deserve to. I’ve known her dad for a couple years now, and he didn’t always like me, but it’s hitting hard. This isn’t how this is supposed to be. I can’t believe this.” He went on a rant and Robin pulled him into a hug.

“Steve, take a minute, pull yourself together,” she rested a hand on his shoulder, “take her and her sister home. Stay with them. They need support. This is hell for them.” Steve took a couple deep breaths and headed back over to you guys.

“Are you ready to go?” He asked, holding each hand out to help you and El up. You both grabbed either hand and he pulled upwards. “They found my keys with the Russians, so I got them back.” He pulled them out and unlocked the car doors for you. You silently sobbed in the backseat with your sister beside you.

“Thank you, Steve.” El whispered. You pulled her closer to you and felt her shaking.

“Anytime.” He was scared to speak, if he was being honest. It was a tense situation, on top of the earlier events. He was just glad that you and everybody else were okay, but he mourned your father with you. He pulled into the driveway of his house and helped get El inside. She took a shower first, and you helped rebandage her injury. Steve took a shower next to clean the blood and puke. While he was bathing, you rummaged through his closet for your clothes, something for El to wear to bed. She fell asleep in Steve’s room. You grabbed some clothes for him so he didn’t wake your sister up. You cleaned up Steve’s cuts when he got out. It was finally your turn for the shower, and you let the dirt and blood run down the drain, taking in the peaceful moment. You deep cleaned yourself, what you’ve wanted to do since the Mind Flayer’s disgusting goo dripped onto you. You stepped out of the shower and fixed the gash on your forehead with a butterfly bandage, grabbed everyone’s dirty clothes, and threw them into the washing machine. You put on Steve’s sweatpants and shirt, and walked into the living room. It was covered in pillows and blankets. Steve stood awkwardly in the center of the room.

“I, uh, I know how you get after encounters like these. I brought out some snacks and your favorite movies. And of course, I made a fort. I figured you wouldn’t be able to sleep no matter how exhausted you were. I don’t know if you wanna talk about it or sit in silence and cuddle or pretend like it didn’t happen, but whatever you wanna do, I’m cool with it.” He explained in detail. You scanned the room, thinking about your response, but you quickly resulted to crying. He approached carefully and pulled you into a strong hug that made you feel safe and warm. You tried to keep your sobs quiet, as not to wake your sister. “Shhhh, babygirl, I’ve got you. You’re safe here.” He said anything comforting that could come to mind.

“I love you.” You said through your suffocating sobs.

“I love you, too. Do you wanna put a movie on?” You nodded at the suggestion. He picked out your comfort movie and stuck it in the player, then sat next to you on the mound of pillows. You held the bowl of popcorn, almost protectively. You didn’t want to admit you were scared the Mind Flayer was going to come back to look for you tonight. You wanted the lights on as a precaution. Steve allowed it, anything to make you feel better. He put his arm around you shoulder and pulled you closer to him. He would do anything in that moment to shield you from the awful outside world. You deserved none of what you got on this cruel summer night, but you believed you did. Your last few memories with your dad were fighting and stress and resentment. You relived it over and over again that night. You couldn’t pull your mind off of the scarring reality of tonight.

After endless hours of mind-numbing movies, you passed out. Steve refused to fall asleep before you, he didn’t want you to be alone. Even in sleep, you looked stressed as can be.

—————

Steve woke up before you and El, so he made breakfast. You had always told him about El’s Eggo obsession, so that was her own personal plate. He made your favorite foods for breakfast and put them together all nice. You and El woke up nearly simultaneously and grouped in the kitchen.

“Let’s start this day on a relatively good note, ladies.” Steve handed you two your corresponding plates. Ahead of you was quite the journey to healing.

Protective Dad (Part 1)

Steve Harrington x Hopper!fem!reader

warnings: alludes to sexy times, cussy cussing

a/n: the timelines a mess, truly. i guess it takes place during s3’s timeline, only slightly altered. and also i’ve decided to make this 2 parts!

prompt: @melxoxo23: “A story where the reader is hoppers daughter and dating Steve. And include Joyce. Maybe with some angst? And a happy ending! Please and thank you!!!

Yeah, being the daughter of a cop was rough. Especially being the daughter of a cop who was hiding your sister from the world. Your dad, Hopper, the chief of police, was protective to say the least. You loved him to death, but you needed your space.

Hopper didn’t exactly hate your boyfriend, but he wasn’t too fond of him either. He lets Steve come over sometimes, lets him eat dinner with the family, lets you go to his house for dinner. Steve swears up and down that the only thing his dad is proud of is the fact that he’s got a nice girlfriend, bonus that it’s the police chief’s daughter.

You loved going out to the mall and seeing Steve, and boy, you loved a man in uniform.

“Hey, Robin, how’s the ice cream business?” You asked her.

“So exciting.” She answered in a monotone voice. “How are you today, y/n?” Robin asked.

“Oh, just tired,” You told her, “sneaking out is a real chore. How’ve you been?”

“Oh, I’m perfect. And sneaking out?” Robin laughed. “I didn’t realize you were under lock and key, but I guess your dad’s a little strict, huh?” You shrugged at her reply.

“It’s a roller coaster,” you chuckled, “where’s the other guy?”

“Oh, he’s in the back.” She pointed. You headed to the door.

“Nice seeing you, Rob!” You walked into the back room to find your boyfriend asleep in a chair. You laughed to yourself and approached him quietly, then woke him up with a kiss. “Morning, sleepyhead.” Steve smiled and stood up to give you another kiss.

“Well, hello there, gorgeous.” He grabbed your waist and pulled you closer. Your arms were stationed on his chest and you buried your head around there, too. Steve kissed the top of your head. Then he paused, “What time is it?”

“3:20.” You answered. His eyes widened.

“My break was over twenty minutes ago.” He kissed you once more. “I gotta get back to work, I’m sorry!” He explained.

“Don’t worry, I only came in to visit. I wanted to get something here for El,” you told him, “but I’m still going to your house after you get off work.”

“Aw, hell yeah!” He celebrated. You kissed his cheek and walked towards the door.

“By the way,” you stopped, “you drool in your sleep.” You left the room and said your goodbyes to Robin. Time to search for your gift to El.

You searched around the mall for hours, and ultimately decided on a teddy bear for your sister. She never had one, and every child has had a teddy bear at one point. You found the absolute softest one for her. It was brown, soft, and had a blue bowtie. El would love it! You wanted to get it to her before you went to Steve’s, so you made your way home. Steve would get off in a little while and your dad had a dinner date to attend tonight, so he would be gone for a while.

You unlocked the cabin door with a bag in hand.

“El? You there?” You called, and after a few seconds, your sister emerged from her room. She eyed the bag in your hand. “Hey, kid!”

“What’s that?” She asked curiously, sitting on the couch. You sat across from her and gave her a warm smile.

“It’s a gift,” you handed it to her, “for you.” Her eyes lit up, but she hesitated to open it. “Go on, it’s all yours.” She looked at you for another second and then dug into the bag. El pulled out the stuffed bear and examined it, feeling the soft fur. “It’s a teddy bear, every kid has one at one point. Now you do, too.” You shared. She studied the bear closely and then looked up at you and smiled.

“Thank you, y/n.” She got up and hugged you tightly. She returned to her seat and observed her gift a little more.

“So, I’m gonna go to Steve’s for a little bit, think you can stay here by yourself?” She hugged the bear to her chest and nodded. “You can invite Max over if you want.” She lit up at your offer and ran to the phone to dial her friend. You made sure there was food in for her and Max to eat, then you wrote down the number to Steve’s house. “Call me if you need anything, love you, kiddo.”

“Love you, too.” You closed the front door and heard each of the locks enable. You chuckled to yourself and walked down the steps and made your way to the mall.

It was around closing time for all the stores, so you caught Steve and Robin as they were locking up. Once he turned around and saw you, a smile grew on his face and he rushed over to you to lift you up and twirl you around.

“How was the rest of your day, Princess?” He placed you back down and kissed your cheek.

“It was pretty smooth,” you tucked your hair behind your ear and moved your hand the the back of your neck, “just let El know I’d be home late. She’s gonna hang out with Max, so she should be fine.”

“Well, let’s get a move-on.” Steve draped his arm around your shoulders. “Goodnight, Robin. See ya tomorrow.” You waved bye to her and she said goodnight to the two of you. Steve and you headed outside into the warm night air, taking in a deep breath.

“So, where are your parents tonight?” You asked your boyfriend.

“They went to their cabin, they’ll be gone a week.” He told you. “I’ll make dinner when we get back to my place.”

“Macaroni and cheese?” You suggested.

“You bet,” you and Steve laughed together and he pulled you closer to him as you walked. “By the way, my dad said that next time there’s a trip to the cabin, they want you with us.”

“Really?” You beamed. “I’d love that!” After a couple minutes of walking, you reached the Harrington residence. Steve rustled around his pockets for the keys and unlocked the door.

“After you.” He opened the door. You walked in and set your bag down. Steve went to the kitchen and you sat down in the living room. You could smell the macaroni being cooked. “Hey, what do you want to drink?” He called to you.

“You got any Dr. Pepper?” You heard him open the fridge.

“No, just Coke.” He told you. You groaned.

“That new stuff tastes so weird. Lemonade?” He looked once more.

“Got it!” He poured the lemonade into two separate cups and brought them to the living room. He handed you yours and set his on a coaster. “I’ll be right back.” He ran back to the kitchen and returned with two bowls of macaroni and cheese. “Here ya go, beautiful.”

“Why, thank you.” You took the bowl and he sat down next to you. “Do you wanna watch a movie?”

“What were you thinking? Terminator?” You smiled and nodded in agreement. “I know you so well.” He popped the VHS tape in the player and sat down next to you to eat dinner. You didn’t expect Steve to be such a good cook when you met him, but he was full of surprises. You set down your bowl and cuddled up with Steve. He placed his hand on your thigh and started moving it upwards. You bit your lip in response to his actions.

“C’mere, Sailor Boy.” You grabbed Steve by the ascot on his uniform and pulled him into a deep, passionate kiss. Tonight turned hot and heavy very quickly.

—————

After you and Steve finished having a “good time,” you guys drifted off while the movie played. You woke up to the TV screen shining blue. The movie was over. How long had you been out?

“Steve, Steve, wake up.” You shook your boyfriend. He mumbles something under his breath. You shook him harder and he sat up suddenly.

“Yeah, what’s up, babe?” He rubbed his eyes. “What time is it?” He asked. You both looked at the clock that read 1:12am.

“Shit!” You scrambled to gather all of your things. You readjusted your clothing. “Steve where the fuck is my bra? You know what? Nevermind. Just make sure you find it before your parents do.” You kissed his forehead and went for the door. “I gotta go, love you!” You shut the door before he could even say “I love you” back. You hauled ass back to the cabin. Once you got there, you slowly and quietly opened the door. When you got inside, there sat your dad, waiting for you on the recliner, with a near empty bottle of alcohol in hand. Without turning around, he spoke.

“Where the hell have you been?” He asked you sternly and slurred. Shit.
