Just cancel the project at this point.
I am so genuinely devastated to hear about the finally of Good Omens. There is no fucking shot a WHOLE SEASON of content, roughly 240 minutes worth of content mind you, will be shoved into the space of a feature length 90 minute movie. Fuck off. I understand it’s been rocky considering all of the new disgusting information about Neil Gaiman but at this point just cancel the project. Just cancel it and wait until we have enough of a budget or the opportunity of a real 6 episodic season because the high chance is is that this singular ‘episode’ will be rushed. It will be rushed and incomprehensibly out of place with the rest of the show. 6000+ years of problems solved in 90 minutes. Clocks ticking.
It gets under my skin the fact that a book that is quite well regarded and renowned with a MULTITUDE of good adaptation is cut short the fucking SECOND a queer relationship is brought into the picture. I know all of the timings were bad because of Gaiman, writers strike, and the lot but this is ludicrous. And I KNOW that more companies are just LOVING having that token queer show on their record and being all ‘slay’ and ‘down with the kids’. But the reality is, they don’t want to fund this. It’s a nice idea but they don’t reaaaallly have the time for it.
Just don’t bother at this point. My opinion is selfish, but that’s because I care. I want this show to have the best possible ending it deserves because it means the world to me. Good Omens is a huge part of my life and many many others on this crazy app and I just can’t bare to imagine this show being drilled into the ground, becoming something it shouldn’t be. I know that’s dramatic but at this point I don’t even care. It needs a proper burial. Please don’t do us like they did Our Flag Means Death. I hope someone steps in or something because I’m so terribly worried for the outcome of this project. I don’t usually post stuff like this or even much GO stuff but I’m so frustrated right now I needed a good fat rant. A big hug goes out to all my fellow Omen fans. Fuck this shit.
