Gown, silk brocade, c. 1770 (weaving), 1770s (sewing), 1870-84 (altered), England, Spitalfields (textile weaving), Victoria & Albert Museum.

The stripes in this dress are actually red and white, but visually it’s pink. This gown in the English style was altered in the 19th century for fancy dress.
