(UGH, and after what, 12 weeks of fidgeting USELESSLY with this?! NEW CHAPTER AHOY!! And we're finally getting somewhere good!!)
" ‘Please, Mama!’ The little boy was crying. The burly lay-brothers were walking back around the far end of the herb-border, only out of sight behind a few bushes. Another few turns, and they would see him. Can I get you anything? Do you need fruit, or medicine to make you better?’ He tried to hug her again, but she brushed him away. I can get it. I can make you well again, just please – tell me what I can do-‘
Señora Salazar blinked at him, serenely, before rising to her feet. ‘You can do nothing.’ She bent to pick up the gardeners sieve. ‘I wish to die.’
‘No! You can’t leave him too!’ Theresa was screaming at the stick-thin figure in grey homespun, still walking resolutely away from the weeping child – as if he didn’t matter anymore. As if nothing in this world did. ‘You can’t abandon him like that! He’s your boy! You have to be there for him! You have to-‘
‘Señora? What is the matter? You cry out, in your sleep...’ "
La Viuda Marina by amazing @montmartre-parapluie
The moment that broke my heart. I've thought about it many times, and now decided to portray it. The fastest and probably the saddest my illustration💔
*LITERALLY MY REACTION on getting back to my computer after spending Christmas away and seeing this notification*
@frostysky33, you magnificent person, you!!!!! I didn't expect fanart - (and gosh I DID kinda hate myself after inflicting this level of tragic backstory angst on baby! Salazar)
There's always a wonderful sort of poetry in the very brushstrokes of your artwork that I absolutely fall in love with, every time. I can absolutely feel the hot, desolate wind of that kitchen garden blowing through your painting.
(and the level of 'I want to reach through the screen and cuddle little Armando' is through the roof - you absolutely captured the feeling I was trying to go for in that scene!) This is the best Christmas gift EVER. Thank you so so much!!
The only possible way I can repay you is with a new chapter update before we get to 2022. I'll get working on that, I promise!!
Chapter 22 now complete! In which Theresa finally make the connection between the mysterious child in her dreams and the grim el Capitan of La Maria...
Shamefully late, but as promised by the 10th June! Chapter 21 of la Viuda Marina is now posted!
In which Theresa deals with the aftermath of Salazar's revelation, and attempts to live up to her new role as embajadora. This proves more difficult than she first suspects...
In which Theresa finally hears Salazar's tale...and a certain Jack Sparrow finally makes an appearance...
Ye be Warned: Salazar's vengeance this chapter is a weeny bit graphic and on the violent side. "No Mercy" and all that...
Hi guys! A quick update: I'm hoping to have Chapter 20 posted by the end of this weekend - as soon as Salazar finishes getting his 'what I did instead of movie-canon' backstory straight with Theresa...

"Señora Theresa dangled like a rag doll, her widow’s cap long gone, hair pulled down. There was a thin stream of blood trickling from her throat..."
Quick drawing of Teresa in La Maria's arms ,i wanted to draw it as soon as I read the new chapter)
To a wonderful story by @montmartre-parapluie "La Viuda Marina"
In which judgement is made upon more than one person aboard La Maria; and Theresa begins to ask the right questions...
Posted HORRENDOUSLY late for the monthly deadline - but I’m still going to blame February for not giving me my usual 30-31 days.
In which Lesaro and Salazar differ over the embajadora’s future, the memory-flood takes a disturbing turn - and Theresa encounters spectral mutiny...
Chapter 27 - The Pursuit of Youthful Admissions Fandom: Pirates of the Caribbean (Movies) / Dead Men Tell No Tales
This chapter and the next were supposed to be one, but it was 7500 words. I hoped it would be easier for you dear reader if I made it two shorter chapters.
It’s FINALLY here, people! Apologies for the extra week’s delay!
Chapter 10 - In which oaths are sworn, Theresa is briefly amused, and Maria Silenciosa's Capitan takes an unheard-of measure in order to learn more of his guest...
TFW you have 700 words to go to finish the chapter you’ve been procrastinating on, and a character butts in with an unexpected scene... so you don’t even get to the big plot twist you were planning on including at the end...
