I don't normally like to single out one comment over others because all comments and all feedback and all engagement from you folks are so so so precious to me, but this one from Chapter Eight just sent me to a happy place in a way I can't quite articulate.

Know that when you take the time and effort to leave a sweet comment on an artist's work, you water their crops, you clear their skin, and you make their whole flipping year.

Thank you to anyone who leaves kind comments after reading my work (or after enjoying any of your fav creators' art). You're a real gem.

@monstersinmysheets don't mind me just fucking ugly-sobbing at 11pm over these kind and blessed tags on your reblog of Laces for a Lady...

Also I'm sorry that you too have had the same experience with a riptide. Mine happened while learning to surf on a beach in Cornwall, so I felt it doubly appropriate to use said experience in this story, set on a beach, in Cornwall. Sadly, Nel is not learning to surf, since it's the 1790's and women can't even wear a bathing suit, let alone have fun on their own, but let's not go there. It is a fantasy story with shapeshifters and healthy polyamory in 18th century England after all... XD

I should add that I see all the wonderful tags that people add when they reblog and I adore them all, but I'm highlighting these in particular because of the sweet comments also relating to burnout and about pouring my whole withered and shrivelled little soul into my writing. Writing is my entire life really, and I'm so touched when people acknowledge how much it means to me. Thank you.

*trips and stumbles into a modern supernatural story setting*

a young woman who's kinda done with dating but is out with her succubus bestie because said bestie needed a night out and oh no she just accidentally used the Unseelie Prince himself as a fake boyfriend to get rid of the human creep who's been hitting on her all evening in the nightclub which also doubles as a supernatural haven (but only if the supernaturals abide by the treaty that says they can't use their power on the humans who are also occasionally allowed in to help make the place look more legit...)

And oh no, the Unseelie Prince is not impressed at the gall of this boring human falling into his royal lap and demanding that he pretend to be something so revoltingly demeaning as her boyfriend, but then she realises that he's not going to play along and stands up with this kicked-puppy look in her eyes and... what's a dark and uncompromising Unseelie Prince to do but kiss this human breathless, and with only a look tell the creep to fuck off or he'll decorate the walls with his insides...

And then the pathetic little human has the nerve afterwards to 'thank' the Unseelie Fae Prince with a reputation for eviscerating people who look at him sidelong for too long? Like she's his equal? Like what he deigned to do for her was something she's just going to brush off and forget and not owe him ten different ways til Sunday??? And then she just... walks away from him after that and goes back to her bestie who comes back to wonder what in the name of all creation just happened - 'I leave my human alone for five minutes and this is the mess she gets into? Have you lost your goddamned mind, girl?’

So yeah. That's where I'm at today.

How are you?

One (1) comment over on Kofi about my fae realm stories has prompted me to start reworking and completely overhauling Winter Solstice in earnest. I now know how it’s gonna end too, which I didn't before, and I fixed the big problem I had that made me stop working on it :3.

Witness the power of a single comment to an artist, folks. Never underestimate it.

Accidentally wrote 8k words of a fae ‘hostile/not-quite-enemies to friends to lovers’ thing today.

Will see where it goes, but boy do my hands/wrists hurt now. I forgot my writing braces and they really do make a world of difference.

hnnnnnnnnnnnng *bites table*

I’m so close to the end of ‘Season One’ (for want of a better description) of Gabe & Odessa and it’s giving me All The Emotions™

*insert Kermit scrunch-face gif here*

Halp.

Edit actually: for those invested in the story, what kind of upload schedule would you like to see? I’ve got one more chapter to write and then Season One is done.

Seeing the tags that people put on a story when they reblog it is better than almost literally anything in the universe ever.

Glimpsing how you feel in the moment when you finish reading a chapter and hit ‘reblog’ and add all these thoughts and feelings and reactions and keyboard smashes underneath it is just... *insert feral chomping noises as I bite my desk like a tiny little gremlin and dangle off it waving my arms and legs around*.

Thank you for making it worth being vulnerable enough to share a piece of my soul work on here with you.

(People who reblog all the chapters as they go through a story are extra wonderful. And this isn’t meant to guilt trip people into reblogging if they don’t feel like it - it’s just a thank you to those who do!)

Just a little thank you post to the folks following this blog and engaging with my stories (and the other stuff I make).

There are rather a lot of you now, and I’m sure some of that count are probably bots, but thank you for being cool and chill and fun, and for making a lil writer like me feel safe and supported in my creativity.

You make me want to keep creating, and I just think that’s super neat.

It’s funny, on the rare occasion I stumble across a forgotten and un-published WIP story in my writing folder, I can tell exactly how I was feeling at the time of writing it. Today I found a story where I was clearly happy. The words flowed, the descriptions were concise but creative, and it just feels... whole. I look at the stuff I’ve been writing this year, and while it all works and is... fine??... it’s not... that. I don’t remember why I felt better then, or where it all went downhill, but I know I’m not writing like that anymore and I don’t know how to get back to it.

Maybe I need a break again, or maybe I just peaked.

I have such a specific kind of game I want to play that I just cannot find anywhere on Steam (or PS4/Switch). There are one or two elements of it in various existing games, but not all (or many) in one.

I want a cottagecore farming & witchy sim with:

  • ‘realistic’ looking, 1st and/or 3rd person POV like Skyrim, Horizon (ZD &FW), Witcher III, Dragon Age Inquisition etc (not cartoon/pixel style like Animal Crossing or Stardew). This is the most important thing that I want and can’t find - there are loads of great looking cutesy things out there (My Witchy Life, Little Witch in the Woods, Wytchwood, Wylde Flowers etc.) but that’s not what I’m looking for (their style is sweet but it sort of hurts my eyes after a while, even Stardew).
  • open world
  • make your own character from scratch (not play as a prescribed character) with lots of physical and gender options
  • lots of great weather effects and changing seasons (like some of the weather mods for Skyrim)
  • build your own house (modular like Skyrim Hearthfire DLC or Sims)
  • ability to craft items or buy items to decorate your home according to various styles/tastes/aesthetics
  • variety of plants/herbs to grow in a garden plus more to forage in the surrounding countryside
  • things to make/craft/bake (potions, salves, medicines, food, treats, meals)
  • beekeeping?
  • animal keeping/breeding?
  • lots of different witchy familiar options to bond with (maybe depending on the ‘biome’ where you first set up the house/start the game - forest: deer, owl, mouse, fox; tundra: wolf, eagle, raven; coastal: seal, dolphin, puffin; plains: horse, wolf, big cat etc. etc.)
  • cute village nearby to interact with - shops, upgrade tools, buy rare seeds, trade etc.
  • option to romance any villager but no obligation to do so (like Stardew)
  • no combat/angst/stress/quests with ‘bad’ endings
  • a few seasonal events - fairs, fetes, competitions, markets etc.
  • witchy/monstery friends (like Krobus and Dwarf in Stardew, but... more? Spirits in the woods/mines/sea/grasses etc. Or if the world is a fantasy one and not all-human, then lots of non-human villagers to be friends with)

That’s... a lot, I realise, but if someone made this game (or like a complete overhaul mod for Skyrim that was literally just that), I would buy it immediately and never leave (and stream it on Twitch every day for the rest of my life!).

Just got myself a slightly early birthday present - a fucking 3D printed yautja bust that I can paint myself. as;ldfkja;sldfjka; I am way too excited. Now all I need to do is sculpt myself a Feral one to match it.

Sometimes I’ll hand my phone over to Mr. Ghosti to show him some of the funny/cute stuff you lovely mutuals put on my dash for my amusement and enrichment, and he’ll casually scroll down after the post I intended to show him and he’ll get an eye full of monsterfuckery, and he won’t bat an eyelid before handing it back to me and waiting blithely to see what I’m gonna show him next.

I married the right one.
