My heart goes out to people thinking about leaving the US today, to people who are immigrants, to black people, to trans people, to women, disabled people, indigenous people, to people who have to go to work today at black owned businesses, to people who are visibly trans, to people of color, to people from marginalized communities, systems and therians, people struggling with money, people struggling to find a job, people who don't have a support network, to people living outside of the US who are affected by its actions, to people from Palestine, Congo, Sudan, to people who have already lived and suffered through fascism before, to people who will see and feel it for the first time, to people who wish they hadn't woken up today, to people who knew this would happen, to people who did whatever they could to stop this, people who thought they could make a difference but feel like they didn't do enough, and to everyone who is scared today, my heart goes out to you all. I love you

I hope you have people around you right now who will not rub in your face what an obvious outcome this was, but that your fear and sorrow are valid. I hope they can comfort and be there for you, when it feels like the world is crumbling around you. Today you might leave your house terrified, and I hope things go as well as they possibly can. Your fear isn't unfounded. You've very likely lived through this before, and many others did, and you'll get through it. It won't be easy. I'm sorry. We've been here before. Democracy has failed you before. You still matter. The lives of people who are struggling right now matter. A lot of people right now are afraid, contemplating suicide, reliving their trauma, and things feel hopeless. Marginalized people have survived a lot of horrible things. We've been there for each other, and we have to be there for each other right now too. You deserve dignity, but institutionalized democracy won't be there to give it to you. Please, look after yourself. You matter. The life that they're trying to take away from you matters. I love you

You can only try and be there for others and yourself. You can only try and do good, and follow your convictions. You can only try and stay alive and enjoy the company of those around you, to enjoy life, and to enjoy anything comforting right now. You can only try and organize yourself and your community, support others, comfort your friends, hug someone you care about. Make art, complain, do something, do anything. But rest too. You might be exhausted, and there's only so much you can do. Fixing this, fixing the world is not your personal responsibility, but a community effort. Focus on the small, manageable things. Be there for those who are close to you. Try not to overextend yourself. Drink some water, exercise, pick up a new hobby, write a poem. Comfort others and accept their comfort. They want you to be well as much as you want them to. You'll get through this. You'll live. I love you

On September 11th, 1973, in Chile, the military forces violently overthrew the democratic socialist government; killed the president, Salvador Allende; bombed the presidential palace La Moneda; and began a dictatorship that is felt to this day. The highest ranking generals of the army, carabineros (the police), the navy and the air force, established a military junta and created a new constitution for Chile, which has been reformed several times, but still functions as the national constitution, to this day

We have tried changing this through several referendums, even going so far as approving a constitutional reform after the chilean riots of 2019. The vote for the reform was successful, but the new document was rejected through popular vote, so the changes were not implemented, as they were deemed as "too progressive and left-leaning". People, even chileans, still claim that we returned to democracy in 1990 when Augusto Pinochet was voted out of office, after which he became senator of the republic, until he died peacefully as a decorated hero in a massive funeral

In Chile, the laws and values of this country are still directly tied to the dictatorship, and those of us whose families were direct victims of persecutions, exile, kidnapping, detentions, torture, murders and disappearances committed by the secret police (DINA and CNI), the army and carabineros (police forces), we still live in constant fear of this happening again. There is no justice in Chile, or any other country of Latinoamérica that suffered through United States-backed dictatorships. We all still deal with the aftermath of violent military and political interventions

Taking today to remember all the victims of the dictatorship in Chile, and other countries of Latinoamérica, as well as denouncing the crimes committed by the chilean government with the backing of the United States. For memory, justice, solidarity and reparations, at a time where they all seem so distant; not just in Chile

A friend of a friend is struggling and needs support right now. She is facing homelessness, so this is urgent. Please, donate if possible, reblog and share. Any amount will help. All money raised goes directly to her to pay rent

Hello, I am trying to raise money for my friend Lina. She is a Mexican American first generation girl trying to survive impossible situations. She struggles with borderline personality disorder, clinical depression, and complex PTSD. She is disabled and living with her parents, who are abusive. She lived with an abusive roommate who threw her out when she had nearly established herself in a different state. She has a wonderful boyfriend who has been trying his best to get to her to support her and get her back on her feet but, right now, she is facing homelessness. She and her family can't pay rent this month.

People have to understand that, as soon as you are in a callout, you are marked, and are labelled with a discrediting attribute that you're burdened with. This reduces and delegitimazes your voice and your ability to be trusted and interacted with, leading to being ostracized and excluded. That is the point of the callout. After being marked and labelled, those who aren't stigmatized will avoid contact with the "stigma bearer." When marked, anytime the stigma bearer is recognized, they generate a response of aversion and disgust in those who have seen the callout, which they rationalize and justify through the notion that those who receive callouts "deserved it"

This way, the stigma is seen by others as transferable by association and as a threat that's understood as a fair and legitimate reason to keep a safe distance, as to avoid becoming a stigma bearer. When those who aren't associated, and are sufficiently separated from the stigma bearer, support and defend the stigmatized, they become "infected" by association. But, those directly marked will always be affected the most, as they're exposed first and more widely. When labelled as a stigma bearer, the perception of you being unsafe is spread around as a warning, which is done under the guise of maintaining the safety and sanctity of the community

People don't even have to believe in the callout for the stigma to work. They don't even have to see the original post, if others relay the information through other means. Once the stigma is created, it stays almost permanently. When the callout has been around for long enough misinformation will also become easier to spread, as the original source is harder to track, and it becomes "common knowledge." It may even become in fuel for another callout, as "they were already called out before." This is why the callout is inherently effective. The callout is designed to be a weapon first, making sure it damages and stigmatizes the "brand" of a user. This way, their url, name, mutuals, profile picture and posts bear the stigma

This policing of "bad actors" is weaponized to get rid of those that are undesirable within the community, and callouts are used against those that are marginalized, as they usually lack the social resources to retaliate, and because they're seen as "reasonably capable" of doing what they're accused of. Those that divert from the norm are also the most likely to be in risk of suffering real life consequences when separated from their communities and support nets, and callouts are intentionally made to socially murder them and their brand. This is why these warnings are shared "just in case," so people can feel morally righteous for defending the community, as it is easier than taking tangible actions to stop actual issues

Callout post are designed and intentionally spread to socially murder others, and the more likely the targets are believed to be guilty, the more effective the callout post is. People will only jump to defend targets of callouts when they're sure they're innocent (which you can only know if you personally know who's being targeted). But nobody deserves callout posts, and if you think that people who are guilty deserve them too, you're part of the problem, and part of the reason why callouts are so effective. Callouts don't stop abusers or abuse

Evidence can be fabricated, people can lie, spread rumors, and things can be blown out of proportions, but, even if the accusations are real, ask yourself what narrative a callout is fabricating. People making callouts know that most victims of them haven't actually harmed anyone, so they instead paint them as groups that "have the potent to harm others." You're left to fill in the blanks with whatever morally repugnant thing they could've done. Just the suggestion of possible fault and wrongdoing will make most people react with aversion and disgust, and this is enough to turn a target into a stigma bearer. People will avoid them, because the feeling of rejection is strong enough to rationalize stigma bearers as abusers

When you're targeted by a callout post (and survive the social isolation), you don't learn a lesson, you don't grow, you're not allowed to change and be reintroduced to your community. It doesn't matter if you're innocent or guilty, because people don't even have to believe a callout post in order to act on the implicit call to action and harassment. If others consider you a danger you will be isolated and bullied, sometimes to the point of suicide, and the people who decided to target you will consider this a victory. Callouts aren't interested in rehabilitation and growth, they're not interested in questioning the institutions and contexts that allow for the abuse of power and real harm to be done. Callouts are a means for quickly obtaining social capital for removing "bad actors" and keeping the community "clean"

i wanna just correct one minor thing, "people can lie" wrong. people *do* lie. the idea that its a possible thing people could do lets us all collectively ignore that it is a current and ongoing thing we all do in some circumstances.

as for specifically during callouts? people *do* lie. sure theres the "once one person says they were hurt, other victims can come forward" but theres also copycat killers as a concept too and those two things are not as easy to tell apart as one would like to believe.

source: that one time five people hopped online to say i abused them for not dating me and a year and a half later it turned out they were all lying to try to help the one "real" victim, who herself was only calling what i did abuse cuz she was being used to discredit me

Agreed. The weaponization of "the truth" is also an issue in itself. People making callouts will lie, and then it's on the stigma bearer to prove that's a lie, but only to their audience. It's also specially difficult for a stigma bearer, because they have to prove they didn't do something, and how do you prove you didn't do it other than your own word, which is being put into question by the callout? Once the callout is out there, any statement in it will be taken at face value, unless challenged or ignored. Focusing on "what parts are true" is also a weapon of the callout, as the debate of the validity of a callout also helps it to spread, as stigma bearers want to clear their names, but this leads to curiosity in onlookers, which spreads the stigma

A partial screenshot of Tumblr tags, that reads: callouts #(also the great irony is that they called my partner a p*do and now they're just like out here casually drawing incest on x) #(like okay freak)

I don't think you understood the post you're reblogging if you're calling someone a freak for drawing incest

if u hate trump so much, instead of making posts on tumblr about it, u can go and fire a better shot at him right now. u can be the second attempt. canalize all ur tumblr rage and u'll succeed

while ur at it take at shot at biden too

and don't aim at the head

if all of us take a shot at trump, eventually someone will land at least one

just think about it.

ur reaction to that person missing trump should be "oh right, we can just shoot them"

your honor, if i knew this post would lead to the assassination of both donald trump and joe biden, i'd do it again but like 20 years ago

the main problem with freaky transsexual tumblr is that when it comes to interpersonal conflict a lot of you default to namecalling and vagueposting instead of actually fucking communicating

like don't get me wrong this is a tumblr problem in general but jesus fucking christ it is particularly prevalent here. for a community that (rightfully) hates callouts and mean girl culture so much you all certainly love whispering behind people's backs as they pass you in the hall like the high school bullies you claim to loathe

for the people that do this, if ur response is to block someone so u can shit talk them, u have to really consider how small of a "community" we are, and how everyone kind of knows everyone (or is two degrees separated from each other). if u vaguepost, even if u block who ur talking about, someone will end up telling someone u vagueposted about them, and we'll just end up playing telephone w our grievances. u will separate that person from the friends u two have in common. nobody learns and nobody grows. at that point, u can just vent in a groupchat instead, talk w the person u were gonna vague, or block and actually move on. the world is not gonna end cause two people dont get along, but if we start vagueing everyone then why are we even following each other at that point

allure has housing and company for two days, maybe three. i just talked to her and shes doing as good as she possibly can rn. shes doing her best, despite the circumstances and im proud of her. i hope the people that matter to her can reach out and give her the sense of community she lacks. i know i have been asking for a lot but we will be later raising funds to cover the expenses of allure and our friend these two days. if we raise money for an extra day, she can stay w allure that extra day as well

i also want to pay back our friend, because xey travelled from the us to canada to keep allure some company. ill keep updating as much as i can, but allure does also need some privacy. i apologise for making this a big deal, but it is a big deal to me. i only want her to be happy again

we need help covering the costs of this trip, so we'll be raising funds to house allure and keep it company for two days, and possibly three if we manage to raise enough money

to send the money, please dm @sphinxgirlbaeddel for xer paypal

for two nights at the hostel, we need $203 USD. and for xem to stay an extra night, it would be another $100 USD

the bus ride xe took cost $112 USD. xem paid for it with allure's help. if possible and if we raise enough, i want to help repay both of them (as theyre both struggling economically rn)

the total we would need is $315 USD. any little bit of money would help keep allure safe and with good company, and it would mean a lot. ill post updates later

So tell me…Trump will be somehow worse for the Palestinian people and Palestine as a country, when Biden has just gone on LIVE TELEVISION and proclaimed he will not be heeding the arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, because what’s happening in Palestine is, in his words, not a genocide.

I would love to see you guys attempt to justify any of this without diminishing the horrors of what has just happened. You said it’d only get worse under Trump? Biden is denying there is even a genocide happening. It is already worse.

insane that ive been accused twice of watching the jacob geller torture video that i didnt watch. like absolutely baffling

like, what is this weird obsession w choosing to believe everyone always watches every video by a white youtuber. i like geller but i dont watch torture scenes. my country suffered a dictatorship. people in my direct family were tortured

anyways, this fucking post is about americans not caring about foreign policy and what happens in south america, palestine, africa, etc, and the global south in general, specifically about american interventionism, what lead to, guess what, the chilean dictatorship

“actually you’re choosing evil if you try to postpone having all your rights taken away”

thanks, lemme just not vote instead. just completely reject all attempts to buy ourselves time. then we can lose our rights faster thanks to the republicans taking over the country and not have as much time to protest and do other things that actually work towards positive change! just like you wanted! so helpful :) /sarc

u are complacent and complicit

what the fuck am i supposed to do like genuinely. why do you want people to Not try and buy ourselves time. you realize what’s going to happen if we all stop voting, right? it’s literally all we can do to keep the republicans out of power. yes biden fucking sucks too but there’s No Alternative and this is the only way we can get enough time to change things through other means.

this post was not about biden, but lets make it about biden

"buy ourselves time" yeah, because ur not Palestinian

"if we all stop voting" u voted for biden and he has provided funding and weapons, and has unwaivering support for israel

"biden sucks" Palestinians are being massacred, probably as we speak. people are dying right this second, even before orange man is elected. right now, as u sit comfortably in ur house

"there's No Alternative" u are complacent and complicit, and u reject a reality where Palestinians dont have to die right this second

"this is the only way we can get enough time" oh? so Palestinians are cannon fodder? theyre there to buy u time? time for u?

"to change things through other means" interesting how u imply things will magically change. how. will u, personally do smth about it? i dont think so. why are u defending the president of the united states on tumblr? is that a productive use of ur time? the time ur getting by making sure everyone else Palestinians are just secondary and cannon fodder to u?

anyways, u are complacent and complicit

never once did i say he was a good president. i’m not fucking defending him, i’m saying that this is how we don’t end up with millions of people dead or worse. never once did i say we’re going to use Palestinians as cannon fodder, what the fuck. i’m not “rejecting a reality where palestinians don’t have to die this second” because guess what? trump’s going to do that too. do you really think things are going to be better for anyone under trump? that he’s not going to do the exact same thing but worse?

how will i do something about it? well, i can’t. i NEVER ONCE SAID things were just going to magically change. there are things we can do and things i wish i could do, and we will not have enough time to see any actual change from any of it if people like you willingly elect trump. i have no money and no job to donate money to anything, i can’t protest or boycott because my parents are all in support of all the things i oppose, i can’t vote on smaller bills that will gain us more rights because i’m too young to vote, but i would if i could. don’t fucking make me out to be apathetic and complicit just because the only thing i can do to change shit is spread information.

do you understand what’s going to happen once trump gets elected? because that’s what will happen for certain if we all don’t vote. withdrawing your vote is not how we progress towards changing anything, it’s how we put trump into power.

"this is how we don’t end up with millions of people dead or worse" oh so Palestinians dont count then? ohhh wait u mean americans. i forget that americans only see americans as people. or did u mean Palestinians? cause theres probably already millions dead and worse. like how exactly will it get any worse?

"that he’s not going to do the exact same thing but worse?" tell me how exactly can u do smth worse than biden funding the genocide of Palestinians rn. right this second. from today until next terms or whatever

"the only thing i can do to change shit is spread information." yeah like the information that u dont care about Palestinians cause trump will be, somehow magically worse? will he send hellfire down the dead Palestinians that are dying right now? like what the fuck are u even talking about. ur implicit message is that he will do smth to u. thats why u take the time to clarify that u want to vote on bills that will give "us" more rights. to u, to americans

"do you understand what’s going to happen once trump gets elected?" he has currently not been elected, as far as i know as im not american, but biden is, he is the president. and he expressed unwaivering support of israel and he funds their genocide of Palestinians

"because that’s what will happen for certain if we all don’t vote. withdrawing your vote is not how we progress towards changing anything, it’s how we put trump into power."

what will happen for certain is the death of Palestinians right now, and tomorrow, and the day after, and next week, then the week after that, and during July, during August, during September, and November. every day of every week of those months Palestinians will die. so u care about the cheeto man not being elected, ok, so what are u gonna do those three months? nothing. u will do nothing, and maybe not because u dont care, u probably do, but because u cant. so then if ur "spreading information" maybe instead of telling people to vote for mr unwavering support of israel, maybe "spread information" to help Palestinians, instead of using ur time to tell everyone how orange man really bad

also my country was under a dictatorship funded by the us, its literally not my responsibility to come up with a solution. but ill keep telling u that by choosing the lesser evil, u very quickly forget that u still choose evil
