I watched 15 seasons of supernatural for this
Ladies, gentlemen, and NBs of the jury-
I’ve been thinking about what SPN character I relate to the most since I just sat through the finale again. And while every quiz I take says Sam, I’d like to argue that such a conclusion is erroneous. In fact, I might be more in touch with Dean as I’m having very Dean-like emotional flashbacks.
Supporting evidence may be found below-
Me not seeing “and Misha Collins” in the opening credits of the finale:
Me trying to bend the universe to my will as I watch the episode about to end without Cas:
My response to Bobby mentioning Cas fixing heaven:
Holding on to hope that Cas is going to come back at the last second, only to be disappointed:
And me finding out they actually thought the ending would quench our thirst for Destiel:
Have I been a Castiel Stan this whole time cause I’m basically Dean?
The defense rests.
So I went back and watched the finale of SPN again, because science (Research isn’t always fun). And maybe someone already touched on this but the foreshadowing is real in the first like ten minutes.
First we have Sam looking longingly at a random family. This is clearly something he still wants:
The family is immediately followed by a dude in red plaid which Sam is also wearing in the scene (parallel?). Rando dude and Dean are literally about to cross paths but Dean’s path diverges to prevent a collision. (Dean and Sam haven’t realized it yet but they are no longer on the same course. Dean has to get out of the way so Sam can live the life he’s always wanted):
Then we have Dean’s last meal (he gon die y’all) Of course it’s pie:
Then Dean mentions Cas and Jack’s sacrifice emphasizing the importance that they “keep living” to honor that sacrifice. This is followed by:
Leaving Dean with literal, and by the end of the episode, proverbial pie on the face (an expression used to signify an unexpected and unpleasant event):
Whose pie you ask?
Son of a bitch
