hi! thanks for coming by. unfortunately the porch lights are off and I have no candy, and now I am going to ramble at you while rifling through my pantry to find something for you...

I've recently had the odd idea to combat my slow fic updating by branching out and writing little cut scenes for SOO from outside perspectives. I am under no delusion these would be well received, or interesting to anybody but me and possibly you. Idk, it's a way to refresh my brain without getting out of the brain rot entirely.

so anyway, from this idea, I got some ideas for two stories with my OCs from SOO:

Kennet & Selene: how they met and ended up at Haymitch's house. the long and short of it is, Selene (an Avox) saved Kennet (a D12 refugee) from a pod while he was fighting in the Capitol. she leads him to safety through the Transfer, and Kennet in turn protects her through the end of the war, and they stick together after that. they're surprised they can communicate with each other so easily when they've never met anyone like the other before. once they have to stay with Haymitch for a bit, it would offer more details to that time I couldn't get into during those chapters bc of pacing and such. I was very sad I couldn't include more about Hotel Haymitch (or Peeta's Palace) outside of a couple throwaway lines, so this would fill in some blanks there as well as give me new characters to play with and develop.

Alice: truly any day with Alice will have something entertaining imo (very biased), but I really like the idea of her interacting with Hazelle and Haymitch in a normal setting where we can see their vibe from the outside looking in. Hazelle tends to forget how scary Haymitch comes across to others and doesn't fully realize how he treats her differently. meanwhile Haymitch is perceptive but gets in his own head a lot or ignores things if he doesn't think it's worth it to him (or that he's worth it for it, if that makes sense). so having someone who is taking it all in like ...wait... would be very amusing and very fun to write. no promises her takeaway would be ours, though. not much of a plot to this one yet, but I am toying with Alice and Haymitch being in cahoots about something concerning Hazelle. we'll see.

we'll have to see if I do any of this, lol 🤷🏻‍♀️
