Since this letter is from Reiner, and they do have a taboo dynamic (GO ELDIANS X MARLEYANS) I wondered how Reiner would write his letters, and remembered that little thing that he did in the Lost Girls OVA.

Then the red dots scattered around stood out when I hit my slow brain with a stick saying "it's not part of the letter paper's texture-"
