Nino and Luka weren't meant to meet, but if they did, shouldn't they get along? Marinette thinks so: they're both sensitive, and kind, and musical.

Yet when their eyes meet across the music audition, sparks fly. Luka thinks Nino is lazy, imprecise, and nontechnical; Nino thinks Luka is stuck up, unimaginative, and repetitive. Both of them are certain that the other person is boring.

On the other hand, Marinette loves them both. Isn't that endorsement enough?

Dear Juleka,

Four months ago, the whole class huddled around you while you sported the brightest grin I’ve ever seen on your black-and-purple aesthetic, just because I… well, I guess what I did isn’t the point. You smiled because the class supported you, because you felt heard and listened to, like someone would do something for you because they love you. Like someone would go to great lengths to take care of you. Like someone would… steal a camera for you?

Four months ago, I-- we… made you happy. We made you feel seen.

Four months ago, I believed that I could do that. Maybe I even could.

I don’t know why I’m writing this. I’ve torn a page out of my diary to write a letter you’ll never read, so it looks awful and jagged (ha, you love his music) and broken exactly like the way I feel, and all for no reason. Why didn’t I just leave the page in?

I can’t even make myself happy anymore.

Why am I even writing to you?

Because I’ve run out of people to talk to. Because I’m so irritating to everyone around me I’ve resorted to making up friends to talk to. I mean, not that you’re made up, it’s just-- the friendship I have with you is. Or, well, sort of. Y’know. It’s not like we talk or anything.
