why is the department of defense using the banal appeals of “representation” in their recruiting strategy? why does mossad plaster videos of female IOF militants over their tiktok pages, waxing poetic about the “empowerment” of thugs and mass murderers? why is kimberle crenshaw, the academic hero of many liberal feminists, black feminists, anti-racists and LGBT advocates, pioneer of the often weaponized, often misunderstood concept of “intersectionality,” silent about the ongoing genocide in palestine? or, anywhere where American fangs are buried? congo? hell, why did the government lie about babies being ripped from incubators in kuwait?

the state department, its mouthpieces in mainstream news outlets, and its intellectual weapon—academia—all work in tandem to hollow out and exploit our pleas for material change. in doing so, these institutions are then able to groom us into these hyper-individualist, atomized tribes and drones that prioritize optics, ego, appearances and uphold “boundaries” that are nothing more than a means to entrench a false sense of personal novelty and exclusivity. Because Americans love the idea of being so fundamentally unique that no one else can quite understand the particulars of our plight. This attraction to individualism bleeds into every corner of our cultural fabric. the goal is to make each of us feel like an island in a collection of islands that can never form bonds and be responsible for each other despite our differences.

It is necessary for the powers-that-be to keep us complacent and thwart any efforts to unionize, organize, or connect our struggles to each other and to those overseas whose bodies lie at the heart of imperial plunder. It’s also a necessary marketing strategy to sell us products. It is necessary for these institutions to exploit social justice language and grievances to justify war. if we adopt this callous and destructive approach to “politics” then there is very little need for cointelpro, since we have become experts in enforcing it ourselves, and no serious mass movement against white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, imperialism and so on can ever materialize if maintaining these impossible “boundaries” overrides a material analysis of how we live, how we act, and what we can do to change our circumstances.

Amidst this dire situation,My heart aches for my son Nasser, who is 4 years old, and suffers from a thyroid problem that has caused him delayed growth and mental retardation. We lack the means to provide him with medical treatment and the most basic necessities, such as diapers and milk. My family, including my husband, three kids, and I once led a content and joyous life in the North of Gaza. However, the onset of war-shattered our dreams, our home, and our means of sustenance. Today, we find ourselves with nothing but the fragments of what was once our life.😭😭💔💔💔

My husband, Rami, works as a home electrician. He moved away from us for 3 years so that he could raise the money necessary to build a beautiful house for our family and to open a shop that would be a source of livelihood for our family. But the war destroyed our house and our shop, it destroyed everything beautiful. We became without a home or a source of livelihood.💔💔😭😭

Allow me to share with you the stark reality we face. With the outbreak of conflict, we sought refuge in the south, settling in Deer Albalah, clinging to the hope of safety until the storm of war abated. Yet, our reality is now a tent in a refugee camp devoid of basic amenities. Our living space is confined, lacking toilets, kitchens, and even access to clean water and electricity. For full year, we've endured the harshness of our circumstances, battling not only the physical challenges but also the pervasive illnesses that haunt the refugee camp. All these conditions directly affected my son Nasser's health for the worst. It breaks my heart to see my child suffering and needing medical aid while I have nothing I can do.😭😭💔💔💔

Hence, I ask you for your kindness and generosity to support our cause. You want to make fandoms a safe space NOW but for some they were NEVER safe to begin with!

The space for fandoms has always been toxic within some of its corners. Especially if you are a person of colour, a woman (both cis and trans), or a minor. Tumblr may even be the best example of that.

There are people within these spaces that make others feel uncomfortable. Unsafe. It is up to the point where they leave the community for good.

But it should be a safe space now because a fascist dictator is in the office?? The wild thing is that there is sympathy being expressed. It is shown more for the fandom than people surviving genocide and some of these people were part of the everyday fandom spaces before the occupation, just like you and I who are free to take part in these communities with no worry!

How about you help out people who are in dire need of our support? Your fandom will be there, whereas many families in Ghazzah have their lives on the line.

Here is a family to consider: My dear friends, Iyad Sobhe @iyadsgaza and Ruba Abushaban @rubashsblog , who are long time neighbors. They were displaced due to the bombardment in Nuseirat a few days ago. Luckily, they have relocated to a relatively safer area and need to purchase necessities since they have lost their personal belongings once again.

Other than starting all over, Iyad is a kind father to 4 children. He is also diabetic and needs medication to regulate his insulin. It is also winter in Ghazzah. Ruba needs warm blankets and clothing for her neices and nephews so they can protect themselves from the cold. She is also caring for her ailing, elderly father!

At the same time, their fundraiser is at the risk of deletion by PayPal. On October 7th, the platform shut down fundraising services. Those who have one have until January 12th, 2025, to complete fundraising. Do you know what that means? We have LESS THAN 3 MONTHS to achieve the entire amount of 60K! We need to raise $600 PER DAY!

So please donate and share! Iyad and Ruba can't afford to start all over! A lot of fundraisers are going slow, this one included. But their situation in Gaza hasn't changed, if anything it got worse and is getting worse. I see the same people repeatedly donating, which is always appreciated, but in order for this or any other fundraiser to succeed at all, everyone who can needs to pitch in. A dollar works! Even that works as long as multiple people donate. But they don't. And there are hours and hours between single donations...

I don't know what else to say that isn't already said before to get people to even remotely donate anything to one of many fundraisers who need urgent help.

It has been over 400 days since this relentless suffering began. 💔 The days pass slowly, but the pain only grows.😭 We continue to endure and hold on for life, but we need a helping hand.🇵🇸🙏

My family and I, like so many others here, face daily challenges to secure the most basic needs—clean water, food, and safe shelter. In these tough circumstances, we are reaching out for help.💔🙏

Survival in Gaza is a fight for everyone and everything, not just humans. Every living thing is caught up in this nightmare, from the smallest creatures to the strongest among us. Take this little cat, for instance. She’s from Jabalia refugee camp, Al-Tarens neighborhood, house number 96, sixth street. Yeah, I know her address. She’s one of us, a Palestinian too, sitting alone in the rubble, her fur matted and dusty, with a raw, swollen eye that speaks of all she’s been through. She’s lost her hearing; explosions shake her tiny frame, but she doesn’t even react anymore. And yet, her will to survive? Unbroken.

In so many ways, she’s Gaza in a nutshell. Life here is a brutal, endless test of endurance. The genocide, the bitter cold, the soaring prices that turn basic needs like food, shelter, medicine into unattainable luxuries. These are things my family and countless others can only dream of.

For families in Gaza, survival itself has become a privilege. Nonprofits that once helped have pulled out, forced away by the very forces that keep us oppressed. And the few who stayed? Acting as middlemen, diverting the aid that’s supposed to be for us. Some prioritize their own networks in distributing aid; others resell what little is sent. Some even claim that half of donations get eaten up by "logistics costs." And then there’s aid that supposedly just "never arrives." So, families like mine are left to fend for ourselves, stripped of even the basic dignity that comes with having our needs met.

I look at this little cat, and I’m struck by the fragility of life here. My family’s hanging by a thread, surviving day to day in a world that seems indifferent to everything we’re going through. And yet, like her, we just keep going. Not because we’re strong or resilient, but because, honestly, what other choice do we have?
