Weekend Update 2/10
October is finally here, and with it comes a multitude of events around Kyoto! They include: -Onshūkai 温習会 (Gion Kobu) from October 1st-6th -Zuiki Matsuri ずいき祭 (Kamishichiken) on October 4th -Mizuekai みずゑ会 (Miyagawa Cho) from October 6th-9th -Kotobukai 寿会 (Kamishichiken) from October 8th-12th -Jidai Matsuri 時代祭 on October 22nd -Suimeikai 水明会 (Pontocho) from October 27th-30th Check them out if you have the time. If not, then look forward to pictures from the Zuiki Matsuri and the Jidai Matsuri as they are both very colorful events (photography is not allowed during the fall dance recitals). Karyukai News -Umekana (梅叶菜) of Umeno (梅乃) in Kamishichiken had her misedashi on Monday (9/26). It’s been a bit slow on major news this week ^^; Blog News -What’s In a Book? Part 15 looked at The Alluring World of Maiko and Geiko by Judith Clancy. -A new tab, Anatomy of Maiko and Geiko, launched. It is still under construction but most of the maiko information is complete. -A new feature known as Mylo’s Pick of the Week was started to share the photographic talents of @gaaplite. The fist picture is that of Marika (茉理佳) of Tsurui (つる居) in Gion Kobu. -More terms were added to the Karyukai Glossary due to the influx of new words from the “Anatomy” tab. There are now 113 entries in the glossary with an additional 5 being found among certain entries to better understand their meaning.
