Tragic News

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of Masako (満佐子) of Man (まん) in Gion Higashi. She passed away last week of unknown causes, with her funeral taking place the same week. She was the most senior geiko in her district and the okasan of Man. It seems that the role of okasan will now go to Masami, but that has yet to be confirmed. While her specific debut date isn’t know, we do know that she started sometime around the late 1960s or early 1970s.
