Welcome to the FIFTH annual Writeblr Secret Admirer event!!

Let’s spread some love and positivity on Valentine’s Day! This is an event where we are going to send and receive some secret admirer messages to people’s ask boxes.

There is no particular criteria about what you have to send, as long as it’s kind and positive. It doesn’t have to be romantic or anything, just send them something nice! Some potential ideas include: sending them compliments; telling them that they’re amazing and loved; comment something you love about their blog; send them a sweet Valentine’s day poem, the options are endless and the only limit is your creativity.

The deadline to sign up for this event will be on February 13th, 5PM CST.

Assignments will be given randomly, and will be sent out prior to Valentine’s Day. Depending on when you sign up, you may receive your assignment today, the day of or anytime in between. Be sure to keep an eye out for it in your inbox, be patient, and to make a note of who your assignment is!

Whump calendar

So I made a calendar for all whump events. Let me know if you're hosting an event so that I can add you. So far I've got:

2023 Year of Whump

For everyone who can’t commit to or is intimidated by a daily writing/art challenge, I present a different take on the whump writing/art prompt challenge, reframed for those who create slowly, inconsistently, and on crip time.

In this yearlong writing/art prompt challenge, you choose monthly or weekly. You can go back and forth between monthly or weekly each month. If you choose monthly, you can pick prompts from any week during that month. You’ll end up with anywhere from 12-52 completed contributions at the end of it. The weeks begin on Sunday.

Tag contributions with “2023 Year of Whump” and then “2023 Year of Whump January” (or another month) for any prompt done during that month, so people can see all contributions.

For each week’s available prompts, there are physical/sensory, emotional/psychological, environmental/situation, comfort/caregiving, and dialogue prompts (in that order). You are welcome to mix and match, use only one or a combination of any or all, and to interpret each liberally. You can interpret them creatively, and there are probably infinite possible ways to do so for each prompt. I suggest (but can’t really require) tagging descriptively to help people find content they’re interested in and/or filter out content in their squicks or triggers.

whumpuary rules & guidelines

Hello and welcome to Whumpuary! This is a whump-themed creation event taking place in January.

Any creator can participate, you can do gifs, videos, drawing, painting, writing, fic recs, fiber arts, cosplay, clay figurines, feature length films, whatever your heart desires. I only ask that it has somewhat to do with whump - it is a whump event after all (but even there I can't tell you what your definition of whump is, so it's really pretty free).

(Considering it's the start of a new year in many places, I want to encourage everyone to consider trying out something new in this event if you want! Experiment with different media, create a new OC, create for a new fandom, try out something you've never done before. But of course you can also stick to what you know :))

You can interpret the prompts freely and use them however you want and create/post as often as you want. You can use one or three prompts per number and create/post every three days, you can post 10 consecutive things in mid January, you can combine prompts of the same or different numbers, you can use each prompt separately and create for 30 days, you can use the numbers out of order, whatever you want. However, if you want to be on the completionist list, there are some guidelines (more on that later in the post).

Posted creations will be reblogged to this blog (though I can't guarantee getting every single post - it depends on the number of participants and correctly tagged posts).

Be sure to tag your Whumpuary posts with:

#whumpuary / #whumpuary2023 #whumpuaryno1, #whumpuaryno2 etc. (the number of the prompt(s) you're using) #nsfwhump or #nsfw if relevant as well as any potential triggers (if you're not sure, then just tag it) you can also tag this blog @whumpuary

There will be a Completionist list at the end of the month. To be counted as a completionist you need to create for at least one prompt from each number by the end of the month, so 10 separate creations/sections/chapters (you can also replace main prompts with alt prompts). For this category, using two prompts from the same number won't count as two creations. There will be a form for that (You won't have to prove your completionist status, I'll take your word for it).

You can use these prompts after the event ends and you can also post on any platform (or not post at all), but I will only reblog creations posted on tumblr.

There will also be an AO3 collection to post your works on.

Whumpuary 2023 Prompt List

There are 10 prompt groups plus Alt Prompts and you can create for those however you want! (create anything! gifs, videos, painting, drawing, writing, edits, fiber arts, cosplay, whatever you want) The numbers don't mean days, so these aren't just for the 10 first days of January but can be used whenever throughout the month. You can pick one of the three prompts (or combine) and post every three days (or any days you want), or even use them all separately and create for 30 days. You are completely free on how many prompts you use or combine and how often you create/post throughout the month. You also don't have to use the numbers in the right order. (Slightly more rules if you want to be on the completionist list, you'll find those in the rules post).

welp looks like there's some interest in this!

since it's on pretty short notice for january this isn't going to be super organized

With just one month to go before we make the world a little bit fluffier, we wanted to quench our curiosity and see how everyone is doing - so we prepared a quick interest check-in form 😊

Please note: this is by no means a sign-up form or anything. We're not even asking for a name, so by filling out this form, you aren't under any obligation to actually participate or post anything next month.
