I have never wanted Tumblr to update so badly in my life
*Scrolls past an incomprehensible post*
*Realizes the post was from a Beloved Mutual*
*Goes back and likes the post*
There are three kinds of Christian Tumblr Mutuals:
1. Those who are Catholic
2. Those who are not Catholic
3. Those that you cannot for the life of you remember if they're Catholic or not, so you're always having to check their blog description
One of the Most Tumblr Experiences: Seeing a post your mutual would love, going to reblog it and tag them in it, and noticing that they're the ones who put it on your dash in the first place.
Hey, if you've been scrolling awhile, are you still enjoying it?
It's okay if you are! This can be a fun place to relax and interact with friends, or just hang out and exist. But sometimes, we get into the habit of scrolling, and don't think to stop, even when we're no longer enjoying it.
So this is just a checkpoint: If you aren't enjoying Tumblr right now, go do something else for awhile. Drink some water, text a friend, read a book, color a picture.
Later, when you feel like it, you can come back and check in on the chaos.
I... Don't hate the new layout? I know Tumblr is making a lot of changes right now that I don't love, but the new layout actually isn't bad.
I love the fact that half the time the number that shows up for my drafts/inbox/queue is just. Vastly incorrect now. Genuinely, that amuses me.
Tumblr: You have 20 drafts! :D
Me, knowing full-well I have at least 120: That's nice dear. <3

Weird coming back to find the place where we put the tags has moved. Someone came into my house and reorganized while I was gone, and put my tags on the top shelf.
My notes are in a bubble now.
As updates go, this isn't a bad one or anything, but I am a little confused. What did the notes do? Why are they trapped now?
Maybe Tumblr culture can be toxic sometimes but also sometimes I have a bad day and everyone from dear friends to kind strangers send me pics of their pets and offer me well-wishes.
And I think that's beautiful.
The Wizard Worm icon is both adorable and unsettling.
Normally I'm one of the last ones to get any Tumblr update
So why on earth have I not seen anything about the worm wizard dude?
..... You can now buy an “Important Blue Checkmark” on Tumblr for $7.99
Which
As far as marketing decisions go
That’s an interesting one, but ok
If you're trapped in an endless cycle of scrolling Tumblr, and you want to stop and do something else but your brain isn't cooperating, I'm gently taking your hand and guiding you to the off button. Trust me, you can go do the other thing. You've got this! 💕
Introducing: Reblog Controls
This is not a drill, repeat, this is not a drill—we are rolling out reblog controls across web and iOS, starting today.
How does it work?
When drafting a post, select the settings cog in the top right corner of your post editor. From here, you can choose one of two options.
- “Anyone (on Tumblr)” means just that.
- “No one” means that your post cannot be reblogged by anyone, ever.
Why?
Your wish is our command. Many of you have told us this feature would give you a welcome sense of safety. If you block someone after the post was made, don’t worry—they still can’t reblog it. This change gives you control over your own posts, and so will improve your posting experience. Ultimately, better posting means a better Tumblr. And finally, don’t worry, Android users. The feature will follow on your platform soon.
That’s all, folks. Happy reblogging!
The Tumblr Experience is scrolling through your dash, seeing a post welcoming Twitter users and explaining clearly the differences between Twitter and Tumblr, scrolling on, and almost immediately seeing a post about making Tumblr as inhospitable to Twitter users as possible.
