I just realized these two things happened in the same spot.
3x01 Blaine surprises Kurt with his transfer to McKinley, and Kurt worries that if Blaine did it for him, it could lead to resentment & a horrible break up. Blaine--of course--reassures him that's not the case.
(Then we get in 3x17 "I changed schools for you, that doesn't make you feel loved?" and in 4x03 "It didn't hit me until now, I came to McKinley for Kurt. That's it. And now he's gone. ... I did all this for him. All of it.")
And in 4x06, this is the location where Kurt officially breaks up with Blaine.
Also: morning v. late night (beginning v. ending) & closed v. open doors (staying v. going).
Half a thought, or perhaps 3/8ths of one
I really, really love the seasonal overlay on Kurt/Blaine's relationship arc from the end of summer turning toward autumn (Lughnasadh-ish?) "It's Time" farewell, to the break up ~ the autumnal equinox, to the sad hallway scene @ Halloween-ish (Samhain-ish?) time, to the Thanksgiving (harvest time) phone call to the Christmas/Winter Solstice putting to bed of their relationship, to the first stirrings of rebirth @ Valentine's Day/mid-February (Imbolc-ish?), to the rebirth point around Easter to what looks like a full rejuvenation/recomittment in early May (Beltane-ish?).
(I am not super duper familiar with the finer points of the Celtic calendar, but it seems like the major shifts in their relationship align in interesting ways with this general seasonal pattern, and we've been talking astronomy a lot this past season, haven't we?)
Oh! This perfect and relevant (and heartbreaking).
Blaine and Sam + trust
Every time this comes across my dash, I'm remembering Kurt, in the hallway in "Glease", telling Blaine "A relationship takes trust, and I don't trust you anymore." And, just... Oh, Blaine.
What a difference 10 episodes makes
(Just jotting down a few vague thoughts and spec, possible patterns (thematic mirrors, echoes, parallels) staggered over episodes intra-season )
4x04 "The Break Up": sadness, betrayal, tears, separation, death
4x14 "I Do": happiness, trust?, laughter, union, revival
Previous photo set got me thinking about the way Blaine has been trying to rebuild that trust with Kurt little by little.
4x06 hallway: he realizes the trust is broken.
4x08 phonecall: he tells Kurt he loves him so much.
4x10 on the ice: he promises to always be there for Kurt no matter what, even if they're not together.
4x14 in the hotel room: he expresses his belief in their love and that they will be together for many more years to come.
4x15 on the roof: he tells Kurt all three of these things plus eternity: he will love him until the end of time come what may.
