Okay, but like
Is anyone else completely enchanted with how Harry Dresden fangirls over Murphy in his inner monologue?
I mean, take that scene in Cold Days where the Outsiders are attacking the island, so Murphy grabs the Winchester from Harry to shoot the guys aboard the barge, and then sinks one of the tugboats with a fucking grenade all while on a Harley riding over Lake Michigan at absurd speeds?
What I love best about that scene is that Harry is recounting what she did and doesn't even do any of his usual adorable commentary. The scene works so fucking well on conveying what a stone cold badass Karrin Murphy is and yet it has this great undertone of Harry's awe and appreciation for her level of skill and concentration in the middle of a fucking warzone.
But one of the things I love most is that Harry gets googly heart-eyes over Murphy in general, not just her appearance, which is a trap that a lot of UF guys fall into sometimes. He is so enamored with her strength and resolve and her drive to put others before herself no matter what the cost. He's humbled that she cares about him and supports him when he's about to pretty much walk into the lion's den with a T-Bone around his neck for the whole damn book series.
And what really seals it is that they are best friends, so the whole time he's mentally squeeing over her, he just assumes it's because they're friends, not because he loves her.

Harry:
I think the fact that he has a mental cheering squad for her going half the time is fucking amazing and charming. I can't express how amusing it is to picture the looks he's probably giving her when she does something badass.
