  • otp: Malnara. My God. I have two huge regrets about Firefly—what happens to Wash in Serenity and FUCKING MALNARA MAN. Seriously, I just wanted them to tear each other’s clothes off and have the kind of sex that would break the bed. The good news is they are in fact playing bouncy castles now in the comic book series, but it would’ve meant so much more to see them kiss (when both of them were awake anyway) during the show. 
  • favourite canon pairing: Simon/Kaylee. They are so stinkin’ cute. I cannot deal with how awkward Simon was the whole show (and movie) through and how precious he got around Kaylee. I rewatch the show on occasion when it pops up on the Science Channel and I like Simon more and more with every rewatch. And Kaylee is fifteen kinds of sweet and peppy and I want to cuddle her and braid her hair and plan her wedding. 
  • worst pairing ever: I am utterly disgusted by Jayne/River. No. She is a CHILD. He is a scary, giant, unhinged maniac on a leash. Absolutely no way that would be a consensual relationship. I am disgusted beyond words by it. 
  • guilty pleasure pairing: Don’t particularly have one.
  • a pairing you want to see more: Malnara, but I already mentioned that, so Wash/Zoe. They are the bee’s knees. So cute and funny and they avert so many tropes. They fit together perfectly, and that’s why “War Stories” was one of the best episodes of the show. It proves so many story cliches about UST and Heterosexual Life Partners wrong. Mal and Zoe are life partners, just not romantic ones. She goes where he goes and he wouldn’t survive without her backing him up and keeping him grounded. I love the respect they have for one another that has nothing to do with their naughty bits, whereas Wash and Zoe have everything to do with naughty bits thanks to oodles of chemistry.
  • that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Mal/River also grosses me out the same way JD/Dr. Cox grosses me out because he is so clearly, explicitly shown as her father figure. There is no way in any ‘verse that Mal could start looking at River as a sexual object. Kaylee is his little sister and River is his daughter. And for those who would argue about River becoming an adult, Mal is not the kind of man who is even attracted to personalities like River. They don’t gel together. They don’t want the same things or need the same things. It just does not fit at all and I don’t get how the fandom can force a round peg into a square hole like that. Which is not a euphemism, ew. No, just no. No. Keep that shit away from me. 
  • favorite non-romantic pair: Seriously, Mal and Zoe could have their own sitcom and I would watch ten seasons of it. They absolutely crack me up. I think they are the ultimate Brotp in the truest sense. You can’t have one without the other. And it helps that Nathan and Gina have MAD chemistry, to the point where they work so well that I DO in fact ship them in Justice League Unlimited (he voices Vigilante, she voices Vixen and they so had UST in that episode “Hunter’s Moon.” Go watch it, for real. Tell me you don’t see it.)
