i recently saw a lot of people arguing whether light would be a trump supporter - personally i think he wouldn’t be, but i was wondering what you think about that?

I think Light is a 2000s guy from a world without 9/11 and would have a lot of questions and raised eyebrows about 2020s politics.

(I honestly don't think it's particularly fun to discuss whether or not beloved characters would support actual real life current day bigots, but in this case I can also confidently say: No, Light values people being able to put a coherent sentence together, lmao.)

Light's ego is honestly so tragic in part because it ISN'T initially delusional - this kid really has lived all his formative years being given absolutely every reason to think he would succeed at everything he touches. He is then given a massive power no human should ever have, and engages with it accordingly - unwilling to admit he is in over his head and making judgement calls from a place of extreme privilege.

He's a beautiful disaster boy.
