Brave: Concept Art vs Final Film
Merida from Brave
character design extra video:
it’s so beautiful how all of this is done
“I hate when people say that Brave was the only Disney movie to show a mother/daughter relationship. That’s untrue Little Mermaid 2 showed a great version of that, one that I enjoyed more!"
As fairly mediocre as this sequel came off as (being, however, admittedly higher quality than certain other Disney sequels in regards to animation and memorability of the original characters seeing as Melody firmly stands out as an individual protagonist similarly to Kovu and Kiara from Simba’s Pride, TLK sequel) the thoroughness and insight into Ariel and Melody’s relationship provided by the narrative is in fact more prominent than the way Merida/Elinor conflict was presented in Brave seeing as the latter was inadvertently overshadowed by rather obnoxious Western feminism agenda rather than organically showcasing Merida’s struggle to maintain independence without having to poison her mother/undeliberately turning half the family into bears. Basically, the mentioned films are two sides of the same coin - Ariel and Melody’s story lacks originality in terms of the general plot setting but focuses distinctly on the rocky and complicated but loving mother/daughter relationship whereas Brave revolves around a secondary bear related storyline rather than investing more effort into working through Merida/Elinor issues.
No thanks
A guy at a princess store in Disneyland was asking me if I related to Merida in any way and I was like
“I don’t know man. I’m more of an Elinor.”
And he busted out laughing.
What I love most about this movie is that shows that being a princess is not wearing a beautiful dress, marrying a prince and live happily ever after, but a job, a hard job with duties and responsibilities were a lot of people depend on you
did you mean: the princess diaries
