who do you think has changed the most during the series? like i don't watch rvm myself my knowledge is all second hand LOL but like when i rewatch my fave shows i'm always like "you used to be so small T_T"

EASY MONEY. Definitely Sal… I think he had to change or the show would’ve become unbearable after the first season. In season one he is so unhinged and impulsive and inconsiderate that it’s hard to like him and even harder to root for him because it’s like you’re doing this to yourself, guy. I think the writers were extremely aware of the fact that if he didn’t at least show promise to change early on people would stop tuning in. So I think he goes through a lot of growing up… I think you can see the beginnings of this pretty early on in 1x13 Crimson and Clover like at this point he’s still pretty horrible to Ellie (they are to each other TBF), but like OK so since you haven’t seen it I’ll just tell you they have to go undercover as a married couple in this planned community where people are moving and then just dropping off the face of the earth (there’s something spooky going on, of course… Let’s just say the people there are not good neighbors. (^_<)) and for multiple reasons sucks so bad for Ellie and Sal doesn’t help by being kind of cruel, but he kind of pretty quickly realizes how bad it is for her and clearly is very worried about him that whole time after that. And then in 1x17 Friend is a Four Letter Word Ellie is sooo sick of his shit and basically dumps him as a friend and you can see him just devastated because he needs her and kind of always has… but like, he still had to learn that lesson. So I think that’s really the first time he has to seriously consider what his priorities are and more than that that, that he wants things that you can’t just take LOL. And it’s a lesson he has to learn OVER and OVER and OVER again. It really comes to a head in season two he’s forced to do a lot of reckoning… So by the time Steal my Body Home (the series finale BTW) rolls around he’s someone you really care about. He’s almost the type of guy Ellie can take home to her family and you would you know. Mind if he died…

I think there’s also this little bit of innocence or like naivety that he still has in the first season that kind of gets knocked out of him as the show goes on too. He has this worldview that’s like the universe is just gonna bend to my will and everything will work out for me because it always does. Bloodletting in season two definitely robs him of most of this and I’ve gotta say like REALLY dark episode be warned OTL… But in it not only is Sal having to face bad decisions he made he also has to confront something terrible that happened to him, AND the solution to this still doesn’t fix it or make it better. Sorry Sal. (ノ_;)ヾ(´ ∀ ` )

Anyway by season three he’s, like, sensitive??? Like who are you and what have you done with the real Sal?? He’s still a mess but in a way that’s more charming than clearly actively self-sabotaging. Not as hard to watch. So yeah! Sal for sure. ദ്ദി・ᴗ・)

Well now I wanna know what your favorite episode is!

Ok so I've kind of answered this question before, but I'm never going to pass up an opportunity to ramble LOL. If I had to choose JUST ONE, I'd probably go with 1.03 Help I'm Alive because it's kind of the first Rearview Mirror episode of Rearview Mirror if that makes sense? Like, it’s where the tone really clicks for me. The previous two episodes are great DGMW, but they're pretty silly and self-contained, whereas 1.03 is where you really start to see the threads… It’s when you realize, “Ok, this is the kind of show I’m watching.”

Basically the episode is about Sal and Ellie looking for this missing girl, and we get a great sense of THE WORLD because they're going to all these Fortean bars and stuff asking around for her, so we see a lot of different types of people and hear about a lot of stuff that will be super important later on, but even though you don't know yet the first time you watch it all just makes the world feel really lived-in and real, so it's great in that sense. We also get some good Sellie banter… Ellie and Sal’s dynamics are really fun to watch here, and even though they aren’t super close yet, you can already tell how perfect they are for each other.

It’s also the first appearance of a whole bunch of major characters, MOST IMPORTANTLY Nith'haiah! I don’t need to explain why she’s the best part of the show, you'll know when you get there.

So yeah, 1.03 is definitely my favorite because it's the turning point where RVM starts showing its teeth, both in terms of plot and character development. If you're just getting into the show, pay close attention to this one… there’s a lot buried in there that will pay off down the line. But ask me again tomorrow and I might give you a different answer because there are just SO many good ones. She's an Angel is definitely my comfort episode it's so much fun, and Through the Walls is SUCH a gutpunch I think it converted a lot of people who didn't like Sal at first LOL like you can tell when someone is getting into the show whether they're pre or post TTW… I also have a VERY special place in my heart for 1.08 Closer which is the funniest thing that has ever been written in the history of humanity, 2.09 Peace & Happiness and 1.13 Crimson and Clover which are like two sides of the same messed up coin ack… Anyways you get it. EVERY EPISODE IS SO GOOD.

Ok gushing over! Thanks for asking again, I LOVE talking about this stuff!! (★ω★)/

Ok... well I finally watched the interview that was uploaded to the website since I couldn't catch it live (I had practice and then needed to study and then I forgot to write this... LOL).

As per usual getting anything out of Joel S. Comber is like pulling teeth (≖_≖ ) Sabatino had her work cut out for her... He said there IS something going on that he's pulling Lilja in for and it IS something RVM... he and C.M. Marcel have been planning it since they started planning for RVM. But that's it. Then he started talking about how all his toddler wants to eat is cornish hens now, so that was about it for actual information. UGH. I hate the waiting!!

I have like no idea what any of this is but it looks awesome!! How would one get into Rearview Mirror? How did you get into it???

Always happy to have fresh meat MUAHAHA ψ( ` ∇ ´ )ψ

Rearview Mirror is sooo worth it, you have no idea! I actually found it by accident, channel surfing when I was waaay younger and just happened to catch an episode (it was 2x13… When you get there you're gonna be like OMG, Mia, THAT was your first episode? I know…!) I had this super tiny TV in my room, so I barely saw any of the details, but it looked so cool! And then I saw the reruns and I got hooked on it immediately. My TV was so fuzzy it wasn't until later when I got my own computer and watched in on there (thank you Kazaa) that I realized Ellie was white lol I thought she was Chinese too ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ… It's ok he's still my favorite, sorry Sal.</3

Anyways, if you don't know, RVM is about these two guys Ellie and Sal who work for an independent agency called FRINGE (Fortean Research Institute and National Goodwork Establishment) and you'll never guess they do… Goodwork! They're basically social workers for Forteans (supernatural people: werewolves and vampires etc.) but they do a lot of cool stuff like investigating mysteries and fighting too (FRINGE gave Sal a gun... bad choices galore) and they travel the country and are best friends and have drama… Sal and Ellie are OTP btw… I'm not going to spoil anything but they're soooo cute it makes me SICK.

BUT it's not all about Sal and Ellie! There are a lot of other great characters, the entire cast rules actually! (Even that awful Hawise girl… Ok, well maybe not her, but her actor is still great.) Other than Sal and Ellie I love Nith'haiah (my all-time fave if you haven't noticed) and Lentil, Farokh (even though she's only in a few episodes and one of them she's a baby…), Josephine and Chiudka (spoilers… ( ;´ - `;)), Violet (Sal and Ellie's boss!), Credence, Concha, Sasha, I could keep writing everyone is my favorite actually… ___〆(・∀・) Can you tell the girls are great? The girls are great.

As for getting into it, you can totally just start with the show! Some people say you should read the pulp novels it’s inspired by first, but tbh, I don’t think that’s necessary. The books are super different from the show, more... uh, adult? (Like, not something you wanna read in public or talk about with your parents, if you get me (>_<). Not that the show isn't ALSO pretty NWS but y'know… ) The show is way cooler and you don’t need to know the books to enjoy it at all. They're worth checking out later to see how things evolved and for historical interest especially if you're into detective fiction and that kinda thing, but they're very much a different experience. The writer contributed a lot to the show which is cool, but the paperbacks are more like… extra credit. They did docu-specials on TLN about them, too, which were interesting. There's still a lot of James Abrahams in it which you know can really make or break an adaptation.

On the topic of TLN, the show ran on the True Love Network which is like a LGBT-centric channel, but you might have it if you have expanded basic cable (that's how I was able to watch it!) and you can still watch it there. If you don't though there are box sets, and of course a little friend I mentioned earlier… cough cough piracy cough

It's my favorite thing EVER I could not recommend it more!! Joel S. Comber and C.M. Marcel have some other shows they work on too that have tons of Easter eggs if you like that kind of thing... you can see Farokh's actress a few times in Temperament with the car and both Malak Blinov and Jodie Piotrowicz are in St. Sebastian (it's actually really funny, their characters had a thing on the show before the actual actors got together... I'd be so embarrassed).

If you ever have any questions just LMK! I'm basically a walking talking encyclopedia... I can talk your ear off (╥﹏╥) Thanks for letting me do that here LOL.

There's a place just down the street where they chop off angel's wings and fry them in oil. You should try some. Oh, the angels? Yeah they're regular people now. Simultaneously their freedom of flight is ripped away from them violently and yet at the same time they are granted freedom from the yoke of divine subservience so it's bitter sweet for them or some gay shit like that. Anyways the wings are really good.
