It's the timeskip and he left for two years to live with his species who obvious taught him how to control and use his magic, so how and why are you unhappy about him being stronger?
Even in the past he has defeated foes much stronger than Gareth so why is he suddenly overpowered now ?
You said that you realsied Percival had no bad weaknesses and was a bad character, I disagree.
Percival does have weaknesses , it's his kindness it's how he often tries to relate and empathise with people despite then being his friends or his foes, its how he cares so vehemently for others that he doesnt care for himself in the process and it's that weakness that led him to his downfall in part one.
Not all weaknesses have to be physical, like not being able to run this fast or punch this hard, some people have emotional and even moral weaknesses and I can argue that that makes characters far more interesting and complex.
You say Percival shouldn't always have the crown-
Have you forgotten his defeat against Gawain, his defeat against the dark talismans, heck his defeat in the very first episode when he got his ass WHOOPED by Ironside 😭😭😭
And again his defeats aren't always physical!
Have you forgotten when idk, Mortlach convinced him that he ruined his grandpa's, ironside's and diodra's life as well as his friends lives and that he should kill himself ??
Percival has been defeated countless time and all this power, all the strength physical and mental that he has acquired over the timeskip shows the fruit of him learning from his mistakes as well as his growth!
Also Percival is one of the 4koa one of the four kids who will destroy Camelot, we literally leaned this in the first chapter so im sorry but you're going to have to get used to Percival being so strong because its literally his destiny plus he's also a life spirit so idk what to tell you.
This was Percival's first fight in the tournament and you're already calling him overpowered like maybe wait for the upcoming fights before deciding that he's overpowered lol, Gareth was a random guy and Percival has beaten Mortlach.
Their was absolutely no reason for him to lose but to each their own i guess.
