unironically the way origins is structured narratively is kind of genius in how each origin grants the player new means to view the world and story and it’s really a shame that the sequels don’t bother with this approach and I’d probably be willing to argue that this contributes to why the morality systems feel more complex in the first game - because the narrative and mechanics work together to allow the player to approach the same problem from multiple angles with different experiences in mind
Friendly Concern
You know how in DA2, if you romanced someone, Varric would pull you aside for a few seconds to tell you why it might be a bad idea.
I would’ve loved this for Inquisition.
Varric pulls the Inquisitor aside.
“Hey, we need to talk about you and….”
Cassandra: Ok, you are incredibly lucky in the absolute worst way but there’s only a finite number of miracles even a Herald of Andraste can pull off and trying to date the Seeker is probably hitting the limit.
Blackwall: I get it, I guess. Grizzled lonely Warden warrior are heart-stealers. The burly, brooding, noble types are irresistible, but maybe, just maybe, consider that there’s a reason he joined the Grey Wardens that you aren’t going to like to hear.
Dorian: Ok, ok, are you trying to piss off everyone in Thedas?! The Chantry already hates you, Inquisitor, getting involved with a Tevinter mage is just rubbing it in at this point.
Sera: I get, it she seems fun, but I’d suggest you watch yourself because being shanked in the kidney by her nutty elven lover is a pretty ignoble way to go for our dear Inquisitor after surviving Haven.
Iron Bull: *laughing* You’re shitting me, right?! The Herald of Andraste and the Ben Hassrath Qunari spy? I don’t know how you two are making that work, I don’t want to know, but I know about ten different ways this could end, and a lot of them look painful and you’re gonna have a hard time explaining it to the Seeker. Or the healers.
Josephine: Ruffles is a sweet girl but I would be careful. If you break her heart, even a little bit, even unintentionally, I would get as far away from Skyhold before Leliana breaks yours. Literally. By stabbing you in it. And that’s if she’s feeling merciful.
Cullen: You and Curly? Well, the shy, awkward types might be sweet, but I knew him in Kirkwall. He’s seen some things, he’s still angry, and he definitely has some issues he needs to work out. Love isn’t enough to fix something like that.
Solas: Chuckles? You mean the not-Dalish and not-alienage elf apostate hobo that wanders the woods, talks to spirits more than people and plays around in the Fade for fun? I guess everyone has their type, but there’s definitely something….strange….about him. Just watch yourself.
WELL VARRIC, YOU WEREN’T AVAILABLE.
Reblogging for the last part.
the fact that walls get dusty is ridiculous. you're vertical. act like it.
the attempted tiktokification of hozier will never not be funny to me because half his songs are about politics and the other half are about wanting to be railed so hard the neighbours complain
wear robes do magic serve cunt
there's no greater betrayal than finally starting to read a book you've had sitting for months on your shelf or your desk or your nightstand and then finding out it's bad. like. i gave you a fucking home.
I can explain myself (I can't)

happy halloween 2023!
you’ve got to love how Suzanne Collins gave Katniss and Peeta the character goals of “keep Prim safe” and “stay myself” and then just flatly denied them both
and of course, in a way, that’s the whole point: when you return home, at the end of it all, having survived a rebellion you started, and having lost everyone and everything you had before in the crossfire … when you have to look that person in the eyes, survivor’s guilt deep in your gut, and think “I did this for you, didn’t I? … so what do we do now?”
the answer, the only thing you can do, stubborn wildflowers amongst the ash: grow
