New pinned by me, Az/Mori

Hello again Tumblr, it’s me, Mori (I started calling one of my OC’s Memento so it got weird), sometimes also know as Az (nickname).

Current (most likely) Content: memes, surreal humor, danmei (mostly TGCF)

I reblog fandom stuff, funny shitposts & memes, cool art & animals, and occasionally political stuff I think is important. Ah, and some mental health posts, we all gotta keep ourselves from the pits of despair.

I also run @fullmetal-generation (Full Metal Panic & Fullmetal Alchemist fan blog) and @kkoma-sonyeon (animals, food, flowers mostly). And I recently started a Full Metal Panic fansite at sagara.neocities.org. My personal site over there is mementomorioh.neocities.org and mementomorioh is my twitter handle, too.

So I’m moving out of Twitter like I’m moving out of a house (lol) to Bluesky, which is actually really awesome and I hope they keep adding more features. If they keep their same principles I WILL pay for a subscription. I keep thinking I’ll do that for Tumblr but then Tumblr does something kinda weird that puts me on the fence (also the Tumblr ads don’t bother me).

(You can find me on Bluesky with the same handle, mementomorioh)

I’m out of an official fandom phase and into my long-term “everything about Japan” phase and I’m working on my own original “novel” (webnovel?) about a necromancer who improperly resurrects their dead girlfriend and ends up haunted as a result. It’s the first draft so I can always use some outside opinions if you like youkai and ghosts and supernatural Japanese stuff (mind the tags, naturally).

Anyway, ummmm… I’m not quite as active on Tumblr but I still check daily, I’m just rebuilding my microblogging presence ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ I’ve been here through one purge, after all!

Thank you everyone who has been sharing and donating the last two months. I'm still in dire financial straits right now, and so is my sister (who is also my roommate). She's been staying with me for the last year, recovering from two broken ankles. She's been back at work for a couple months now, but barely part time. When she moved in with me, she was expecting to be able to get back to full-time work much sooner, and so she'd be able to contribute to rent and utilities. Unfortunately, her recovery is taking longer than her doctor initially thought, and she may end up needing yet another surgery (which means more missed work). She's barely making ends meet and therefore can't contribute to rent and utilities, which has put me in serious trouble. I already struggle to live in CA on a public school teacher's salary, even without adding on another person. As soon as I get paid, my entire paycheck goes to rent, car, and credit card payments. I don't qualify for any kind of emergency loan. As soon as I pay my credit card bills, I end up having to use that credit on food and gas. There is no end in sight. Which brings me to the part I really hate: asking for help. If you can spare ANYTHING, it would help SO MUCH to get us out of this hole we're in (and hopefully a little breathing room). Even if you can't, if you could reblog the link, or my Kofi, I'd appreciate it SO MUCH. I can offer services as a proofreader/beta reader for any kind of writing as a thank you, or I will happily take commissions for small embroidery or cross-stitch pieces.

cutting child porn from ao3 is not going to be a ‘slippery slope’ to full blown ‘censorship’, you guys are just pedophiles

There is no child porn on AO3. That is a false statement perpetuated by pro censorship groups in order to promote their repressive goals.

Child pornography is pornographic material (images, videos etc) of actual children. That is why it is illegal to produce, transmit, or possess. Because it involves the sexual abuse, assault and exploitation of ACTUAL REAL CHILDREN.

AO3 is a US website that abides by US law. US law prohibits any involvement whatsoever with child porngraphy -  possession, creation, transmission etc. If there was child pornography on AO3 not only would the website be taken down but everyone involved would be in prison. This has not happened because there is no child pornography on the site.

There are some fictional stories on AO3 that include fictional sex scenes between fictional characters who are underage. But that is not child porgraphy and is legal. Just the way Game of Thrones has sex scenes involving underage characters but that’s legal because in real life the actors and actresses are all legal adults. It is legal because no actual children are harmed.

Actual children are harmed though when pro censorship people pull stunts like trying to report AO3 to the FBI for child pornography. While these complaints did not result in any actions against AO3 because there was no child pornography it means that time that could have been used to investigate real claims about real child pornography that put real children in harms way was wasted. And that hurts children.

But these people don’t care about children. They don’t even care about banning fictional subject matter that depicts underage sex. If they did they would be campaigning equally hard against HBO for airing Game of Thrones and George RR Martin for writing A Song of Ice and Fire both of which include underage sex scene as well as other dark subject material like rape. What they really care about it claiming the moral high ground to justify harassment campaigns and censorship of marginalized communities.

bruh don’t hide this in the tags

bc bullies choose smaller targets

Exactly. Because when you go into an amateur writer of fanfiction’s comments or inbox and call them a pedophile and disgusting and threaten to call law enforcement on them, that makes them upset, sometimes very much so depending on their age and experience of the internet. And so they often react by showing their suffering and distraught emotional state either directly or by doing things like removing their stories from ao3.

this gives the bullies the feeling of power and the enjoyment of the suffering they have caused in a “deserving” (in their eyes) target.

They could do the same to a large, published author but they would get no reaction. They’d be caught by spam filters or interns or something. And if their harassment grew intense enough it could get them in trouble with law enforcement.

Less powerful targets make the best victims. Which is why, if you ever get this kind of harassment the correct action is to report them as harassment and block them and say absolutely nothing.

Pulling someone’s hair in class is no fun if they don’t squeal.

i have understood so many things about online leftist culture by the fact that when i said "your local community has people you will morally and politically disagree with but you cannot lock them out of accessing any tangible service you’re organising" one of the tags responding said "this isn’t about proshippers in here you’re not welcome" like. folks. focus with me. some of us are homeless here.

There's a disconnect happening here because the primary function of social media for most casual users is to form a circle of friends around the usual things that friendships are built on: shared interests and lifestyles and ideas of what is important and what is unacceptable. When people are mainly doing leftism on social media, this encourages thinking of leftism as centered around establishing high-minded social clubs.

For anyone who still isn't getting it from someone who helps people IRL: There's a difference between whom you're helping to feed at the mealshare and whom you're choosing to hang out with for fun after the mealshare. You don't have to invite a hungry person with opinions you don't like to play board games with you, but you do have to help keep them from starving if you're serious about leftist organizing.

As an adult I think me and all my friends should all have matching schedules and work like 20 hours a week and also everyone lives within 15 minutes of each other why is that so much to ask
