Menelaus=Hades

Or if I'm feeling delusional enough Helen and Menelaus are just Aphrodite and Ares

I don't remember if this is just the premise of the warrior Penelope Au by @gigizetz but I like the idea. As a bonus in this version of the tale her patron God could be Ares instead of Athena (or even Poseidon since her mother is a Nereid...

Imagine if Poseidon and Ares teamed up... Damn that could be an even more interesting spin! Instead of being burned to the ground Troy was all flooded

The vengeance Saga is out and I'm here ready to trash on Poseidon and how he got defeated by a guy with a makeshift jet pack, let that sink in.

But since the Vengeance saga/Halloween are really close I will use this opportunity to share some sketches of the Monster Au .

Ok... The last one was kind of gruesome so I removed the blood...

I have many examples of characters that are doomed by the narrative, literally all the characters in Greek tragedies, but I made these two as a first example, a god and a mortal

I wanted to make Cassandra since you know, she always knew her destiny and nobody listened to her, so yeah that was a great example but then I thought that even Helen knew that her beauty would just lead to destruction and death, in some version she even gets killed for her "sin" but I'm not gonna talk about that :D

So yeah I took a perfect line from the musical Paris that Cassandra says.

And then we have Ares or more specifically my interpretation and vision of Ares, I always like to make jokes at his expense, I mean you are a god of war but you always end up losing... But I think he also has more depth than what I like to show, and that's when he wears his armour, don't get me wrong he is a douche in both versions but I think that when he puts his helmet and cloak on he is a different type of person.

Here is Ares the most laugh at god that we have (worse than Hephaestus situation in my own narrative.)

But here he is in his nice Mycenaean armour

Side note:Ok ok I'm a bit behind in the schedule on the mythtober and I... almost forgot to post it here too but the next post probably will be an art dump of the underworld gods, another one will be with Eros and Psiche together and then I hope to fall on schedule again as i did before.

I'm trying something out... don't ask why Odysseus is naked in a tent with Diomedes and Menelaus, and I really don't have any intention to cover him up, trying to draw anatomically correct bodies and then cover it it's such a pain in the ass😭

The struggle i went through to draw Hephaestus is incompressible! I can't even fathom it

I spent 2 hours just trying to figure out his hairstyle and it came down to the four flavourless and boring one😭

And now let's start my rant session, sorry not sorry.

I look at references trying to understand how to draw him, what direction to take, and other stuff... Leaving aside the typical iconography of the old men, can we talk about his statues? Why is he a distinguished gentleman? so defined and arranged? I understand the canons of sculpture, ...but wasn't the bro supposed to be so ugly, to have a face that only a mother could love? Hell he was so ugly her mother threw him off mount Olympus ( Oh well in my narrative this could be simply explained by the fact that he just didn't meet her expectations since she had such a high standard and yeeted him)

But I'm also guilty for not making him monstrous, so I raise my hands in defeat...
