When Harry gives his godparents a stylish cabinet for their anniversary, nobody knows the dark magic it holds. When Remus and Sirius decide to fool around in it, they're transported to different universes, where that man passing them looks exactly like Sirius... then Remus... then Sirius again. How many universes can they survive before getting back to their own in one piece?
Obviously, what they would've been like raising Harry together
It was a cool fall night in mid-November. The gentle breeze stirred the trees, filling the air with a quiet rustling. Somewhere in the distance, an owl added its voice to the music, a chorus of crickets soon lending their harmony.
This private nocturnal concert was entirely missed by the inhabitants of a small nondescript country cottage, where a baby’s piercing screams permeated everywhere its wails could reach.
Sirius paced the living room, a tiny bundle wrapped in his arms. His hair was in a state of total disarray and his eyes were bloodshot and weary as he regarded the baby he held with pleading eyes.
“It’s alright, Harry. Come on now, don’t cry,” he said, attempting to keep his voice even and soothing despite his mounting desperation.
Sirius looked up as Remus came in from the kitchen, having just finished washing the dishes (the Muggle way, in order to keep himself busy).
“He won’t stop. Why won’t he stop?” Sirius asked, hoping that Remus would have the answers like he always seemed to.
Remus just shrugged sadly. “Your guess is as good as mine, Padfoot. Why don’t you let me take a shift? So you can get some sleep.”
Sirius sat on the couch and stared into Harry’s little red face. “He misses his mum and dad,” Sirius replied, as if Remus had never spoken.
Remus sighed and sat on the sofa next to Sirius, drawing him in closer with an arm around his shoulders. Sirius leaned into the contact almost immediately.
“He’s not the only one,” Remus said, quietly enough that Sirius almost missed it due to Harry’s sobs. Sirius turned his head to look at him then, their gazes momentarily intense with the mutual silent exchange of I’m not ready to talk about it yet.
“Do you… Do you ever think that we made a mistake?” Sirius asked hesitantly.
Remus shook his head. “Do you?”
“No. We couldn’t leave him with those people, Dumbledore be damned. It’s just… I’m never going to be James.” Sirius stroked Harry’s cheek with a finger, smiling as Harry turned to latch onto it, gumming it determinedly.
In the brief reprieve of silence that followed, Sirius felt like he could breathe once more. He let out a sigh of contentment as Remus squeezed the back of his neck, lightly running his fingers through the hair at the base of his skull.
“He doesn’t need you to be James, Sirius. He just needs you to be you, and he needs for you to love him,” Remus said calmly.
Sirius regarded Harry with adoring eyes. “Well, at least we know we’ve got that last one covered, don’t we, little man?”
Remus smiled down at Harry and had a sudden realization. “Wait… How long has he been doing that?” Remus asked, gesturing to Harry’s steadily working jaw.
Sirius furrowed his brow in confusion. “On and off all day. Why?”
Remus laughed, incredulous at their own stupidity for not realizing sooner. “Because he’s teething, love,” he explained.
The relief that fell over Sirius’ face was nearly comical, but the insecurities that came before sobered the moment.
“Everything will be okay,” Remus said reassuringly. Knowing his partner was not one for empty platitudes, the simple words bolstered Sirius greatly.
Whether this statement would prove itself a reality was yet to be seen, but there, by a warm fire in a country cottage, surrounded by love both old and new, the two men had never held so much hope in the sentiment.
Summary: Exam stress is not the only thing that has Sirius frustrated at Hogwarts. (Read Chapter 1 first.) Pairing: Wolfstar Warnings: Sex, swearing, teasing Tags: @chloe-geoghegan @evedina @blitheringmcgonagall @starstruck4moony
Heat curled around Sirius like water. The afternoon was muggy, and the air around him felt thick as he pulled it in and out of his lungs. His fingertips traced along the smooth wood of his desk, following the grain as it flowed in rivers. Had time slowed today?
His eyes drifted to the white feather on his professors desk. It was hovering a few inches in the air. Suspended. Each time a student ruffled the pages of a textbook the delicate fronds would tremble. The whole thing quivered, as if poised and waiting.
Sirius was suspended too. His body did not belong to him. He had willingly handed it over to the boy beside him, and now he trembled too, his entire being suspended and held captive.
He wanted to trace Remus’s skin. Wanted to breathe in the air he breathed out. It shifted his senses, fine-tuned them to every movement, every sound and smell that came from beside him. Last night, his gravity had shifted.
Remus shook his head. “I’m not sorry.” He arched an eyebrow, a grin spreading across his face.
“See, it looks like I’ve won our little bet.”
Sirius’s mouth dropped open. “You…I-”
“Sirius Black” Remus smiled, sliding his fingers around Sirius’s tie and tugging him forwards. “I believe you’re all mine, now.”
Sirius smiled as the boy in front of him slid onto his lap, straddling him.
“I always have been, Remus.” Sirius murmured, unable to stop a smile curving his lips.
Remus grinned back, leaning forward so their noses bumped together. “First task. Kiss me.”
Sirius leant forward without hesitation. Softly, at first, he teased Remus’s bottom lip, gently sucking before sinking his teeth just a little into the soft flesh.
Instinctively, Remus ran a hand along Sirius’ cheek and to the back of his neck, kissing back eagerly.
Sirius hummed in approval, sliding his arms around Remus and down to his hips, holding him firmly in place. His tongue slipping out to run along Remus’s lip. When Remus responded his kiss deepened.
Remus began to circle his hips, pressing his clothed cock against Sirius’s arousal. He smiled into the kiss as Sirius fisted the back of his shirt in response, gripping Remus’s hip with the other hand and guiding his body as it rocked tightly against him.
Remus couldn’t think how mad he’d driven Sirius already, couldn’t imagine how good it would be to feel him release all that energy on him. And yet part of him, a nagging, primal part of him, wanted to test Sirius’s limits.
“We’re not going to fuck in the common room.” Remus said.
“Oh yeah?” Sirius challenged, letting up his grip and reaching to palm Remus’s cock as it strained against his trousers.
Remus caught his hand, quickly circling his wrist and doing the same with his other. Before Sirius realized what was happening he was on his back, hands pinned above him and Remus was straddling his body, pressing his back into the carpeted common room floor.
“Fuck” Sirius gasped as the air rushed from his lungs.
“You’re mine now.” Remus said, voice hard as he pressed his fingers gently against Sirius’s neck. “Say it.”
“I’m yours.” Sirius breathed.
He bucked his hips in frustration, but Remus held him still, pressing a little more gentle, exquisite pressure against his neck. “That means you do what I say. without questioning it. Do you understand?”
“I understand.”
Remus bent his head to Sirius’s, letting his lips graze his ear. “I’m going to fuck you so hard you can’t think about anything but my cock for months, Sirius Black.”
Sirius shivered, “Please, Rem. Please.”
“But I’m not fucking you tonight. Not here. I’m gonna make you beg for it Sirius. And I’m going to make you wait.”
The low whine that slipped from Sirius’s mouth was almost guttural.
Remus was still holding both of Sirius’s wrists in one hand above his head. He didn’t let them go as he wet his fingers with his mouth and reached down to Sirius’s cock. It twitched at the feel of his fingertips and a rush of air left Sirius’s lips.
“What are you, Sirius Black?”
“I’m yours” Sirius quivered as Remus slid his hand around his painfully hard shaft, letting his own saliva lubricate the soft skin as he slid his hand upwards.
“Say it again.”
“I’m yours.” Remus swiped his thumb over the top of Sirius’s cock, making him shiver with delight.
“Again.”
“I’m yours. I’m yours. I’m yours.” The words tumbled from Sirius’s mouth as Remus pumped his cock, noses bumping together as they whispered the two words back and forth.
“I’m yours. I’m yours.” Sirius was no longer sure who was saying it. The same air in their mouths, the same words, the same thoughts. His home was in the crook of this man’s neck, and his body belonged to his hands.
Fuck, Remus’s hands. Sirius was trembling on the edge, suspended, as Remus pumped his fist back and forth.
“Come for me.”
Sirius’s body obeyed. After all, it belonged to Remus. It always had.
Finally, Remus released his hands from above his head. Sirius breathed deeply, inhaling Remus’s scent as he pressed his nose into the crook of his neck, feeling his damp skin stick to his own. They were the same.
“Good boy.” Remus murmured into Sirius’s hair.
Sirius’s desk swam into focus as a hand brushed against his, leaving far too soon for his taste. A small piece of parchment was left behind.
Sirius eyed Remus, opening the note greedily.
Concentrate.
He smirked.
Is that an order?
The corner of Remus’s lips turned upwards. Another piece of parchment.
You don’t want to find out.
Sirius forced himself to take a long, slow breath.
I most certainly do.
Remus shook his head just a little.
It’s an order.
Sirius’s chest vaulted.
Can I obey your orders in a broom closet after class?
Remus shifted in his chair.
You’ll obey them when I say.
Sirius bit his lip, trying to hide his smile.
I’m yours, Remus Lupin.
He heard Remus exhale slowly.
Mine. Tonight.
Harry Potter being raised right, by Sirius Black who just ‘fuck rules, Moony, I’m not letting my Godson live in hell’ because he managed to transform into his animagi form and escape the scene of the crime before he got caught, and took Harry before Dumbledore said anything. Him technically being an Honorary Potter, still gives Harry the protection from Voldemort, while at 12 Grimmauld Place.
Him carrying a baby Harry, who just started speaking, his first words being, ‘Dada’, which makes him start to cry and ‘no, Harry, he’s not here. It’s only Padfoot and Moony now.’ And Harry giggling, because he’s only an infant, and is innocent like that.
Harry being sent to Neville Longbottom’s grandmother’s place during full moons so Padfoot can take care of Moony.
Harry when he’s 2, and can only call them ‘MoonMoon, and Pa'foo’ and laughing when they play Hide And Seek, and Moony just found Padfoot and Harry sleeping on the couch, Padfoot protectively draping his paw around Harry, in his animagi form, and Harry clutching onto the fur happily as he sleeps.
Moony and Padfoot buying a toy broomstick for Harry when he’s 4, and he learns to fly before he can walk, but, ‘Its only two feet about the ground, Moony, relax.’
Harry finding the portrait of the Black Family tree, and seeing Padfoot blasted off of it. Harry getting angry, and drawing Padfoot back onto the portrait, with ‘Padfoot’, with his crayons, and putting ‘Moony’ next to it, and later covering all the other people in his black coloured crayon. ‘I’m covering them up.’
Moony and Padfoot telling Harry the truth about his parents when he’s 7, because ‘He’s old enough, Padfoot, and he needs to know what really happened. We’d be no better than those Dursleys if we didn’t.’
Harry understanding completely, crying a bit, in the middle of the night, but making sure no one heard him. The next day, Harry asks about his parents, and what they were like.
Harry getting small things that belonged to Lily, that Moony and Padfoot got from the house, and kept for him, including a picture of James and Lily’s first kiss, and many small muggle items she had from when she was small. He also got a sweater that belonged to James, which was from his Quidditch Practicing days.
Moony and Padfoot teaching Harry small jinxes and counter Jinxes when he’s 8, and Harry sneakily using a jinx on Padfoot because it was a prank war, and every prank war means at least one man having pink hair.
Harry when he’s nine, and being prepped on everything to do with Hogwarts, and how to get away from trouble, and which teachers to avoid or go to in the school, if Harry can’t contact Moony or Padfoot.
Harry being 10, and waking up in the middle of the night, to see Moony and Padfoot sleeping together on the couch, Moony putting his head on Padfoot’s lap, while his hand is in Moon’s hair, as he was playing with his hair before he fell asleep. Harry giggling, because ‘Moony and Padfoot are in loveeee~’ yet neither of them deny it.
Harry getting his letter to Hogwarts as soon as he turns 11, and Moony and Padfoot’s throw a small party to celebrate, inviting Neville as well.
The three of them going to Diagon Alley, and many people greeting Harry, and Padfoot boasting about it, while Moony laughs.
Harry getting to meet many kids who might meet him at Hogwarts, including Ddaco Malfoy, and Padfoot growling when he sees Lucius, and says ‘they’re a bad sort, Harry, keep away from them,’ but he didn’t listen, and being the small outgoing kid he was, he went to say 'Hi! Are you going to Hogwarts too?’ And Draco, actually being surprised and smiling awkwardly because his father was talking to the shopkeeper, at the corner of the room, so he didn’t know what to say, and he nods. Padfoot smiling because Harry looks happy, and Moony thinks that maybe Draco might be different.
Harry promising to send them letters every single day, by owl, while he hugs them goodbye, and runs towards the Hogwarts Express, waving at them until they are no longer visible.
Harry keeping his promise and telling Moony and Padfoot all about Hermione Jean Granger, and Ronald 'Ron’ Weasley, who are his new best friends, and Draco Malfoy 'who is an absolute git sometimes, but can actually be a sweetheart.’ and how Hermione and Ron managed to help him battle a troll in the girls bathroom, as well as meet Fluffy, the three headed dog, and how they played a game of wizard chess, and defeated Lord Voldemort, who was stuck on Professor Quirrell’s head, and how, when he saw the Mirror of Erised, he saw Padfoot, Moony, Lily, and James, (Or mum and dad) standing next to him, while they sat in the house. Oh and 'I’m seeker for the Gryffindors! Just like dad!’
Harry receiving a howler the next day, which was the day before Ron received it, and hearing Moony scream himself raw, 'YOU WERE TAUGHT BETTER THAN TO FIGHT WITH SEVERUS— “Moony, it’s Snivellus, Harry meant no harm, I’m sure of it.” — AND HAD ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO DISOBEY ORDERS. PADFOOT, DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY? “I’m proud of you, Harry, keep up the good work. Tell Snivellus that if he irritates you any longer, he’s gonna have to speak to me.” PADFOO-’ And the Howler ends, bursting into flames, while Ron is laughing, and Hermione smiles, while Draco hollers a “congrats Potter!” and I AM SORRY FOR TAKING UP YOUR TIME BUT I VERY WELL NEED THIS IN MY LIFE, AND SO DO YOU.
I liked part of it so much I wanted to make sure it stayed included:
On the first train ride to Hogwarts, Harry sits with Neville, because of course he does. Their parents were in the Order together, and neither one made it out okay. And Harry has seen Alice and Frank in the hospital when Moony insists on paying their visits, bringing Frank flowers and Alice chocolates. Neville isn’t lonely now; his Gran is so grateful for the hero Sirius Black, the man who took down Peter Pettigrew: the death eater that betrayed the Potters…and perhaps the Longbottoms too, in a private aside with Barty Crouch Jr. hoping to avoid James. Sirius is always welcome at her dinner table, and she loves to hear stories about Frank.
Harry was practically a second son to the Longbottoms, and Neville never made fun of Harry for being raised by his two uncles because he was raised by his Gran and they both just sort of accepted and shrugged that families look different. Harry and Neville used to run around with sticks in the woods away from their families playing Death Eaters and Order members. They took turns dying dramatically, and in their versions their parents always won, and were always okay.
“I’m Ron, by the way, Ron Weasley.”
“I’m Harry, Harry Potter. And this is my cousin, Neville.” Because the introduction just made perfect sense. And they were cousins, way back somewhere. The Blacks and Longbottoms were part of the Sacred 28 after all. And Harry was a Black as much as a Potter.
Draco would never bully Harry’s cousin. Not while Harry was around. And Neville was never left alone, never picked on by Snape while Harry had a viciously vindictive godfather and Neville’s absolutely terrifying Gran that could even make old Snivelly shrink up with fear. When Neville asked Hermione to the ball, Ron and Harry didn’t laugh, but encouraged it. It was Hermione who figured out Neville’s wand was always acting up because it really wasn’t his proper-like. Harry asked Moony about it, and Remus had a private word with Augusta. Neville was the proud owner of a new wand on his fourteenth birthday.
Harry never had to go to the Department of Mysteries to rescue Sirius because Kreacher had to obey him as a family member and tell him outright Sirius was upstairs. (And they had completely gutted Grimmauld Place. Every single piece of wood of the original staircase, the original walls, the floor plan, even was knocked down and reassembled with a magical decorator and a gleeful Sirius volunteering as demolition crew while Remus planned the library, the new kitchen, and Harry’s room, the three most important things to his heart). Sirius never died because the Battle of the Department of Mysteries never happened.
Synopsis: Things haven't been the same between them since Sirius' return from Azkaban. Remus wants to clear that up.
Ever since Sirius had returned, Remus noticed a sort of barrier between them. He couldn't tell exactly what it was, but he knew it was getting in the way of rekindling their relationship. They were currently sitting just inside the Three Broomsticks Inn, Remus working on a plate of eggs and sausage while Sirius had some pumpkin juice and a cigarette.
"I just--" Sirius was in the middle of arguing.
"You slept with someone didn't you?"
Sirius balked. "No! I-"
"When?"
"...About two weeks ago." Remus sighed, and Sirius threw up his arms. "What?! I've been starving for a good shag since Azkaban, and she was gorgeous, like--" the animagus was momentarily distracted by a passing barmaid.
"Like that one?" Remus sighed, looking back down to his food. Sirius groaned.
"The engine's been revved for years, there's no stopping it, you see. But her breasts were right up there-- I mean right up in my face, and then she just grabbed me like it was the last thing she would do--"
"Spare me the details, kindly," Remus muttered, and rubbed his temples, dropping his fork. "I understand. Sirius, I do. I get it. But you know... you could have simply asked me."
Sirius suddenly looked nervous, pattering one hand against his mug. Remus knew this look-- this was the "I'm Finally Going To Confess To My Feelings" look.
"Mooney, I..." Sirius began, "I wanted to, but--"
"But what?" Remus turned fully, snapping at the shorter man, "But it just isn't there any more?" Sure, it was dramatic, but if Sirius got to be dramatic all the bloody time, Remus could for once as well.
Sirius looked almost heartbroken, though. "No! Moons... Remus, I spent every day in that little room, thinking of your eyes, of your smile, of you. It's the only thing that got me through-- that, and Harry. It's just..." His gaze fell down. "It's been 12 years. The last time we dropped our trousers for each other, we were still in school."
Remus' expression softened, and he thought about this. It had been over a decade since they had last slept together, and while they used to go at it at least three times a day, (Sirius' stamina was incredibly impressive), Remus could understand his old partner's insecurities. He had some of his own, of course-- he had kept himself in good shape, but 12 years later, there were sure to be some differences, right? As he thought of the two of them now, vividly pictured in his mind trying to act like their 25-year-old selves in the bedroom, he began to laugh, stealing Sirius' cigarette and taking a drag himself.
"Yes, you're right. It might be a tad awkward." Sirius smiled in relief, smile warm.
"Exactly, exactly! I didn't know if everything would be the same, and I was... well, quite frightened, to be honest."
Remus recovered from his coughing fit-- smoking again was a bad decision. "Frightened of what?"
And there was that vulnerable look again.
- I love Tonks but this would be so sad though
- Sirius survives the fight with the Death Eaters, but Peter still gets away, so it's a while before he can go out as himself
- He still adopts Harry in secret though, and Remus eventually moves in too because his boyfriend's back dammit and his flat is ridiculously expensive
- Anyway, the fourth, fifth, and sixth books go on with Harry living at home during holidays at a cleaned up Grimmauld Place. Sirius is still part of the Order, and Remus remains professor of DADA
- Tonks is good friends with both men, and like an aunt to Harry
- In the seventh, Remus tries to dissuade Harry from sneaking off to find the Horcruxes, but Sirius understands. It's something he needs to do
- Harry's a little more melancholy throughout the camping, as he can't receive letters, and this is the longest he's gone since moving in with them without reading Remus' encouraging well-wishes and Sirius' dramatically scrolling handwriting
- "You miss them," Hermione notes on Christmas Eve, slipping a hand into his. Harry just nods
- When Harry gets to Hogwarts, word is sent to the Order, and they arrive when Snape retreats
- As Voldemort begins to breach the protective spell, Harry desperately searches. He searches the crowds to find them, to reunite after nearly a year apart. He finally sees Remus and Sirius on the other side of the hall through the masses
- Remus, by chance, glances over to Harry quickly, offering him a comforting smile before dashing off. Sirius sees Harry and cups his hands around his mouth
- "I'm so proud of you, Harry. We'll see you after the battle is done!"
- Harry's only able to give them a wave before he's pushed along by his fellow students, and out of sight from his godparents
- Sirius and Remus take the east tower, watching the shields come down and preparing for battle
- "Look at us, Moony. We grew up in these walls."
- "We did. Now we have to watch them get knocked down."
- "Not if we don't look."
- Remus just smiles. "I can see us now, running down this hall, away from some horror we created."
- "James shouting. Lily laughing." They both smile. "I miss them."
- "We very well may see them again tonight, Pads."
- They stand there, and Sirius swallows.
- "I'm scared for Harry."
- "Don't be, love. He'll be alright, even once we're gone."
- Sirius looks over to him sadly, and Remus reaches his hand up. Sirius' reaches up as well, and their fingertips brush, a silent comfort that it was going to be okay, they'd all be together again one day
- After the battle, Harry looks around. He searches, and he finds bodies of people he knew, people he didn't, and a boy who was like a brother to him. The losses are devastating, etched into every parent and friend's face
- He looks for Sirius helping someone up onto a step, or maybe Remus hunched over someone, drawing a blanket up and hugging a fellow professor. Helping.
- Then he sees them.
- Remus and Sirius are lying there next to one another, fingers almost touching. Not helping. They're not moving.
- Blood cakes Sirius' hair, and Remus' scars are almost unrecognizable. Harry's breath is stolen
- Is he dreaming? No. They're gone. They're gone, just like his parents
- He screams, so loud the sound echoes through the hall. But when he opens his eyes, he realizes he's made no sound at all
- He clutches his wand a little tighter. He owes it to them to win.
-After the war, the Sirius, James, Lily, and Remus desperately wanted to return back somewhere safe, a place with only good memories
-James taught quidditch, Sirius taught Astronomy, Lily taught potions, and Remus taught Defence Against the Dark Arts
-Even though they wreaked havoc on Hogwarts for seven years, McGonagall was the number one supporter of them all teaching was McGonagall
-She was just so fucking happy to have four of her favorite students ever back and safe.
-Sirius and James were practically seven years old
-They were so fired up and energetic, their lessons were so entertaining.
-It was good that James taught classes outside because a classroom couldn’t contain his energy
-James sometimes forgot that he was a teacher, and would just get excited and distracted playing quidditch
-Sirius was amazing in astronomy
-He had loved the stars all of his life and taught with so much passion
-Every student loved both their lessons so much
-Almost as much as they loved Lily and Remus’s classes
-They all sat together at all the meals, whispering together just like the kids who sat below them
-Everyone could see how great friends they were
-Lily and Remus had to physically restrain James and Sirius when they wanted to prank McGonagall. “I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL HURT YOU. YOU ARE ADULTS. YOU WORK HERE. YOU ARE NOT ELEVEN YEAR OLD BOYS”
-Lily and Remus grading every night together in one of their offices.
-They complained about their husbands and bitched about the problematic students. “My god I cannot read another essay from Malfoy he writes like he’s typing comic sans.”
-Sirius would come in and watch Remus teach every day. He loved to watch his ravishing husband teach
-The students asked loved to ask questions about their relationship. They were goals. Dating ever since fourth year and friends since first.
-Sirius and James would take over Remus’s classes around the full moon while he was recovering.
-Speaking of which, Moony had Padfoot and Prongs to keep him company, which made the moons so much less tortuous
-And he now had Lily who was delighted to make potions to try to help Remus
-James would wait outside the potions room to give Lily a kiss as soon as class ended and then he would sprint back to the Quidditch pitch and only be a *little* late to his next class
-The four would all have weekly tea with McGonagall and talk about their time at Hogwarts
-James and Remus had a vegetable garden behind the Herbology greenhouses, but too many of Hagrid’s “pets” were eating their hard work so they stopped
- James and Lily and Remus and Sirius just being so in love and so not dead and just happy
inspired by the lovely prompt from @apocalypticfandom
—————————————————————
-They met through first year charms.
-Lily and Marlene sat one row to the left of Sirius and Peter
-This led to a lot of Sirius harassing them
-Sirius would lean across his desk to use their ink and spill it all over Lily and Marlene’s papers
-Or shoot fiery sparks at Lily’s worksheets, leaving small burnt marks and streaks across her work
-Or tape his wand to Peter’s and slowly poke her from across the desk
-Much to James’s anger, Remus’s amusement, and Peter’s confusion, Lily was never angry at Sirius’s constant bothering
-She knew that this was not remotely mean spirited and that Sirius wasn’t doing it to make fun of her, just to make her laugh
-And it did make her laugh
-Lily was thought to be “well behaved” and even a “goody-two shoes”, but this was impossibly far from the truth. She just knew how to not get caught
-If you ask Marlene, she would even argue that Lily could be worse than Sirius
-Lily and Sirius became amazing friends because of their ridiculous similarities
-They were the one of the most platonic OTP that ever existed throughout Hogwarts
-Neither of them really expected to be anything but enemies but they were just too similar to not love each other
-Lily and Sirius would have weekly study sessions every Thursday night after dinner during quidditch practices when Marlene and James would leave for practice and it would be quieter. Sirius pretended to hate it at the beginning but it quickly became one of the best parts of their weeks. Lily would bring color changing inks and her perfect notes and Sirius would bring dessert and muggle music to listen to. They would lay on the floor and study until one of them passed out because they wouldn’t admit they were tired. It was a competition.
-Sirius comforted Lily after Petunia sent her seven too many letters from home. There wasn’t another Gryffindor who understood what that was like better than Sirius. He found her sitting in the common room near the fire shaking with tears and rage. He didn’t even need to ask her what was wrong before she leaned into him and cried while he ran his hands through her hair and whispered that everything was okay.
-James was unbelievably jealous of their closeness, but learned pretty quickly that this had advantages.
-This led to a lot of, “Lily did you know that James’s hair is naturally that cool in an effortless kind of way and not because he hasn’t located his hairbrush since second year and is too stubborn to use his dad’s hair potion”
-And plenty of, “James is very strong from quidditch because it is a very legit sport and requires a lot of muscles”
-And eventually it was reciprocated to feature plenty of, “Lily might be ready for something if you would just ask again and NO DUCKS CANNOT BE A PART OF THIS JAMES NO I DO NOT CARE IF SHE SAID THEY ARE CUTE WHAT ARE YOU DOING SHE WON’T SAY YES IF YOU DO IT LIKE THAT”
-Lily was the first person that Sirius came out to at the beginning of fourth year.
-He was so surprised that he would admit this to anyone because he had just admitted it to himself
-Lily didn’t give one fuck if Sirius liked boys or girls or no one and told him so.
-She was also the first person who realized that Sirius was desperately in love with Remus
-She noticed all of the times Remus would be reading or talking and Sirius would be staring intently and smiling with this dorky smile
-She and James did what Sirius did for them and tried talking them up in the way Sirius had done
-Lily taught Sirius how to paint his nails and Sirius would charm their polish to flash different colors or to change with their moods or spell out the name of a person who is speaking behind your back.
-Lily quickly became Sirius’s muggle objects dealer. Over breaks she would bring back muggle records, clothes, makeup, snacks, movies and some random objects like a stapler or post-it notes that he would be absolutely enamored with.
-He was the only person who James and Lily would ever have considered for being Harry’s godfather. Everyone said that he was too immature and wanted to know why they would ever pick that loud and annoying kid from Hogwarts to take care of their kid, which in the times of war, was a pretty legitimate probability.
-Lily and James wouldn’t think of anyone else because they always thought of the sweet person who loved everyone unconditionally and would give every last drop of what he had to the ones he loved.
Sirius taking Harry because that beautiful baby of James and Lily is not going to live with that horrible woman who terrorized Lily throughout all of her years at Hogwarts
Sirius and Remus kept it together, through the three nights of no sleep, through the chaos, and the trials, until the moment it was all over when Peter was locked away and Sirius was free. Only then, after they knew Harry was one hundred percent safe, did they allow themselves to sob, to let go of all the pain, to cry out all the pain and anger and frustration.
Harry grows up in a house that loves him. No one to yell, or abuse, or treat him with anything but love.
They don’t go out a lot in that first year. Sirius and Remus couldn’t take the pain and guilt of all the people asking them about Harry and congratulating Harry. It’s too painful to be reminded of James and Lily every time they want to buy cereal.

”Merlin’s beard, Moony!“
“I didn’t know he was coming over, Pads!”
“It is your job to know these things!”
“What? No, it’s not!”
Sirius grunted and zipped up his fly before throwing Moony’s shirt to him. Sirius glanced in the mirror and ran a hand through his thick, black hair before he looked back at Remus, who was buttoning up his shirt.
Remus glanced up at him from the buttoning and smiled warmly as his eyes twinkled in the candle light. He straightened his collar and pulled his sleeves down, not taking his eyes off of the staring grey eyes, belonging to his lover.
“What are you looking at?” the aging, but still youthly souled werewolf asked him.
“I’m looking at you, Remus, co-founder of Rome and bringer of sanitary.”
Remus laughed and put on his jumper while throwing Sirius his vest, “Hurry up, flirt. Harry can be here any moment. Oh! And just because Remus was the co-founder of Rome, doesn’t mean he was somehow also the bringer of sanitary. Who knows? The Romans would probably still exist withou-” Sirius caught the vest and put it on, not taking his eyes off of the rambling Remus. Finally he broke the stare and walked towards Remus, who suddenly stopped talking the moment Sirius had made his first movement. Sirius saw Remus’ collar having crept underneath the jumper and pulled it up, so the ruffled collar looked fine before he looked up at Remus and winked,
“Much better,” he grinned
“Oh, right, I had almost forgotten how glib you were when it came down to clothing.” Sirius rolled his eyes and brushed his hand over Remus’ under arm, before he gently took hold of his hand.
“Those twelve years were worth the wait.”
“I guess it must’ve been my animalish attraction pulling you back to me,” Remus said with a chuckle, before he bit his lip cheeckishly.
Sirius laughed and shook his head, “Well… Maybe partly, yes,” he admitted, “but mostly just you. Well, not just you. You. You and your sugary coffee, your books, your… beautiful scars. Your lovely, but weird, ruffly, but perfected, ashy hair, your freckles and oh…! Your chocolate.”
“Don’t you ever forget the chocolate.”
“How could I ever?”

Remus Lupin is a man who can’t control himself some nights, and others is the perfect example of a model citizen. He can’t explain his changes, but it’s not like the cops-- or the prosecutors-- will listen to him. The only person who seems sympathetic to his case is Defense Attorney Sirius Black, who’s looking to jumpstart his career. Lupin’s case seems like a doozy to take on, but Sirius is up for the challenge. Despite having thought he had this in the bag, things get muddled when Sirius begins to fall for his charming criminal client... that is, if the gorgeous man with a penchant for chocolate really is a criminal.
