hi there! i just wanted to let you know that i’ve made and posted a podfic version of your story “to an angel, love and worship are the same thing” — it should pop up as a related works request on ao3 pretty soon. it’s such a beautiful fic and so in-character and even though i’d read it before, it made me tear up a couple times while i was recording it. thank you for writing it, and thank you for including permission for podfics etc. in your profile 🧡
WHAAATTTT that's so cool!!!!!!! i don't know if i've ever had a podfic made out of my fic before, this totally rules! here is the fic for anyone who wants to take a listen, please go show this person some love, i cannot wait to listen <3
@shitdiggity requested Ocean's trilogy fic recs, and me being one to never pass up an opportunity to yell at people about things I like, gathered 18 of my favorites. As follows:
In ascending order of wordcount. All of these are absolutely excellent, but my extra-special top five are starred and bolded.
Plan Gone Wrong by kaitscribbles (608 words, x) - Virgil and Turk as outsider POV on Danny/Rusty. I didn’t know I needed more of their dynamic <3
One More Cup of Coffee by shrift (835 words, x) - Short and super cute banter.
Stay Awake and Stay Alive by cleardishwashers (1k, x) - Danny gets shot in this one. Rusty’s internal monologue and the pair’s dialogue are spot. On.
Don’t Ever Trust a Heart You Can’t Break by cleardishwashers (988 words, x) - Short and sweet, pre-canon.
Chump Change by CherryIce (1k, x) - A take on their first meeting. Very cute.
All or Nothing At All by andre_windrag (1k, x) - Cute and funny, there’s one line especially that made me crack tf up
The Same Unspoken Song by phoenixflight (2k, x) - A fic based off Danny’s line in 13 to Rusty about settling down and having kids. Not kidfic. Super sweet and great characterization.
Inclinations by sunshowerst (2k, x) - Just. Mm. Their dynamic is nice :)
The Journey and the Destination by cleardishwashers (2k, x) - Tess & Rusty interactions are always so fun. Another short little self-contained one ending with Danny/Rusty
* Buy Now, Pay Later by CherryIce (2k, x) - Danny’s in prison. Rusty/Tess, Danny/Rusty. Very good n real
Heat Waves Been Faking Me Out by cosmicallycatastrophic (2k, x) - Really great dialogue and dynamic. Give it up for two-time divorcee Danny Ocean moping around in Venice!
* Six to Eight Months by CherryIce (3k, x) - Same as previous and just as good :D Tess does crimes #girlboss
The High Life by Destina (4k, x) - Captures the flow of their relationship and of the movies themselves very well. Road trips :)
* Something Borrowed by phoenixflight (5k, x) - The emotions in this one! So excellent. Tess/Danny/Rusty, brilliantly written. Not quite a happy ending.
Play the Game Like You Have Nothing to Lose by dreamlittleyo (6k, x) - First Ocean’s fic I ever read, right after I watched the movie for the first time. Love the cons in this one.
* Confidence Men by Dorinda (6k, x) - G-d, this dialogue!!! J’adore.
* The Last of the American Girls by kaydeefalls (7k, x) - Danny/Tess and Danny/Rusty, poly-ish. Rusty and Tess take a roadtrip. #feminismwin in that Tess has a personality! Made me love Tess as a character. Rusty is amazing. Voices are on point, so many great lines, and Danny doesn’t make an appearance in this fic but he’s such a fleshed-out and tangible presence all the same!
The Absence of Truth in Cartography by angelgazing (21k, x) - Even more road tripping!!! Seems to be a common fandom trope I guess. I really need to reread this one, because it def had parts that were so clever they went over my head.
I watched all 3 movies in as many days and read all of these fics and more yesterday and today. Clearly I'm not getting enough vitamins.

MERCY-LUXED | 2k | on ao3
Dean, Cas, and Jack are dead. Sam goes on. (or: a horror fic where the supernatural finale becomes the endverse)
Sam gets married on a Tuesday. He hates Tuesdays, usually, but— but Dean’s gone, now, and he can make something good out of it. He has to make something good out of it.
She looks gorgeous, of course. Stunning. Sometimes Sam blinks back tears just from looking at her. Everyone knows how he feels.
–
It’s— funny. How the days go by. Years, he means. Years and years go by, but when he wakes up it’s like Dean only died yesterday. Grief is funny like that maybe.
But he’s never alone in bed, either. It’s hard to grieve when you’ve got the most beautiful woman — the most beautiful thing — on the planet by your side. He rolls over just to look at her. It’s amazing, how he feels. He used to always— it was hard, before, having sex, because of everything. Now it’s perfect.
“Hi, baby,” she says, kissing the tip of his nose. Sam laughs. “Gosh, you’re perfect. You ever think we could be soulmates?”
“Soulmates,” Sam repeats, trying the word out. Soulmates, sharing a heaven. “Sometimes it feels like we’re already in our own private heaven,” he admits.
She likes that. He can tell from the way her eyes crinkle, easy and familiar. Feels like he’s known that face for centuries; like when they first met, they were being reunited. “I know,” she whispers into the warm, fabric softener space between them. “It feels like you were made just for me.”
Dean has been making the same stupid joke since he was 18: waltz into some restaurant he’s never set foot in before, flash the server with one of his signature charming smiles and order “the usual”. Watch them squirm for a second, laugh it off, leave a good tip.
It was almost funny the first time. Sam’s been sick of it ever since.
He doesn’t think much of it until Dean and Cas invite him for breakfast to celebrate his engagement to Eileen. There’s a little place not far from their new house that Dean claims makes the best pancakes East of the state line. Sam suspects it’s only because they’ve started to taste like home.
The server puts down Dean and Cas’ coffee with a pleasant smile before he even greets Sam, three packets of Cas’ preferred sugar packets set next to his spoon and a mug for Dean much larger than standard. It must be intended for some kind of desert. He only takes Sam’s order, getting quick confirmation from Cas and Dean that they don’t want to try anything new before he’s off to the kitchen again.
Sam will never forget the look on his brother’s face. He’s almost awestruck, staring at the coffee like it’s the greatest thing he’s ever seen.
“They remembered my order.”
“Aren’t you guys regulars here?”
“Yeah. I guess we are.”
It hits Sam like a brick. Every time he’s heard that joke has been a desperate reach for normalcy. A tiny stolen moment to pretend they had the luxury of a routine. But Dean doesn’t have to pretend anymore. Neither of them do. And with any luck, they never will again.
every so often i go thru ao3 and put on all the proper filters to get a fic similar to The Honeymooners by verily_i_say. and every time. the only fic that fits the bill is The Honeymooners. and I stop trying.
if you are not reading the team free will journaling fic ur not living
the dean/rhonda summer of 1999 manifesto (i should write this whole fic, maybe i will, but for now it’s short n sweet:)
So. Mickey as an unofficial and entirely involuntary role model for South Side queers.
Thing is, while Kev’s assertion that ‘no one cares who you bang’ largely seems to hold true, I still can’t see it not causing at least a tiny bit of stir when the news first hit. You know, in general everyone just seem to know a lot about everyone else in the neighborhood, and maybe they know an extra lot about the Milkoviches because they’re pretty damned dangerous, and you’d do well to stay both informed and clear of them. Now, Mickey is the neighborhood thug of his generation: the son and likely successor of a violent and homophobic Nazi, so him coming out as gay at his son’s christening is… Well. Word gets around, is my point, even if most people are too busy with their own shitty lives to pay too much attention to Mickey’s, beyond a wry observation or two.
Except some do pay attention. Some keep all this in their hearts and think about it often.
Oh, he realizes. I’m growing into an old man.
