Too cool.
Our trip to the @santafeopera with @simplysantafenm was so inspiring! Reminded us of Marc Chagall's massive mural on the ceiling of the Paris Opera, completed in 1963 amid much controversy. Here's a photo of him working on one of the panels of the 2,400 square foot masterpiece, which took 440 pounds of paint to create. On 5th August 1858, Queen Victoria and her husband Albert arrived on the shores of Cherbourg, France for a state visit. Gustave Le Gray’s hauntingly beautiful photographs show the British vessel amongst the French fleet of Napoleon III, (the Emperor and his wife Eugénie had come to Cherbourg the previous day.) Jules Achille Noël’s painting depicts a seascape banquet, hosted by Napoleon, taking place on the French ship ‘Bretagne’.

Love the paintings within the painting.
@annieobriengonzales' #MatthewsTakeover: Recently I've been perusing favorite artists in the morning over coffee rather than watching the news, much more inspiring way to start my day. Pierre Bonnard was a contemporary of Matisse who radically changed his painting style in 1905 to hold brilliant shapes characterized by his painting "Earthly Paradise" which is in the Chicago Art Institute. #art #arthistory #artinspiration #lifeofanartist #painting #painter #landscape #instaart #artgram #artist #postimpressionism #france #pastoral #simplysantafe #howtosantafe #canyonroad #canyongram #santafe #santafenm #artengage #artalive #newmexico #nmtrue #purenm (at Santa Fe, New Mexico)

Le Moulin de la Galette was the 19-year-old Picasso’s first Parisian painting. The artist came to the city in 1900 to experience the famous Exposition Universelle, and he became enamoured with the glamorous nightlife during this two-month stay.
