I started working today on a commission. The concept is based off a classic #Marvelcomics Invader story that was originally drawn by #jackkirby but will use #DCComic characters the All Star Squadron - Because it's a recreation but also uses different characters ect.., I don't want to just mimic Kirby but I also want it to feel similar. So this one is a bit tough. You can see here my starting pencils, and how absolutely crap they are. I used to pencil like a beast but these days it's more of a guide. I get bored pencilling easily and want to ink so bad. With this piece because there are basically three main elements, the lettering, the foreground characters and the background I am splitting it up. the lettering I did in illustrator and will just ink over that. Right now I'm pencilling the foreground characters and will ink those as well. That leaves the background which while Important isn't as important as the first two steps. I do that last because by that point I can lose a little focus and that's okay, because the focus needs to be on the lettering and main characters.
