Hi! :)Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you liked it ♥This is a rather awkward and long explenation because I’m not a pro and not that good at explaining things, but I’ll do my best:
In a nutshell - the gif itself is 3 separated images. I worked with Adobe After Effects to get that transition effect. It’s pretty simple actually. But in order to create it I had to separate the characters and some elements (like the flickering stars) from the background. Here’s what it looks like:
It’s an 8 second long composition by 12 frames per second, with an opacity transition between 0 to 100 roughly in the middle of it.I later imported the footage from AE into Photoshop and exported via “Save for Web (legacy)”.Note that tumblr can’t upload heavy gifs over 2MB so I had to compress and resize the image.

It’s been a whole year since Carrie Fisher’s passing and I still can’t believe she’s not with us anymore. Seeing her in all her glory on the big screen for the last time was truly mesmerizing and heartbreaking. I miss her so much :(
