commission for @nyarlie, who requested an illustration of one of the most wizard moments of campaign 2 ever 😏 featuring a clean-shaven dirt wizard, which was very fun to paint! i don't draw Caleb without his signature scruff often, but he definitely makes such a handsome lad 🤭 this scene is one of my favorite for the way it characterizes both Caleb and Essek, and i was very happy to rewatch it several times as i worked on this painting.
the way i picture the ninth floor of Caleb's tower (and the space "inside" the beacons) might be a bit unconventional, but i am very much in love with the initial soft gray and starry imagery of dunamancy we had in c2, so it was a special treat for me to be allowed the creative freedom to paint it as such. thank you for commissioning me 💜
I love them taking the piss out of each other. Big baby Fjord and his (Travis's) fear of spookies and Nott's (Sam's) insistance on fucking with everyone to some degree. Although, I will admit Nott knocked me on my butt with the big reveal. I ADORE her.

Caleb in particular has been all over the brain for no reason (awkward, dirty ginger wizard who loves libraries and plays with fire, I'm smashing the kinny button), but Jester is so sweet!!!! I was worried I might find her a bit much but she charmed the whole party + me.
I wanted to be Zuko as a kid, not gonna lie. He was taller and cooler and had a perserverance that was super inspiring to me. Also the live action show released a trailer earlier and I've been attempting to practice light and painting recently. I want to get better!!!!
Anyway Zuko. Like pyros. You'll see more of them.
i've fallen so far down the rabbit hole of life that i totally forgor i was supposed to be posting my colorful Esseks project! (wherein i paint Essek wearing all sorts of fun colors outside of his signature black and purple, because i can, and because he should)
part one was peachy orange, anddddd
it was also painted last year and was inspired by conversations about equestrian portraits, the potential Kryn versions thereof, and young and impudent Essek wanting to impress people. which very well could have resulted in him commissioning a formal portrait of him standing next to a mighty cat steed (juvenile so as not to take up 90% of the portrait) in his youth 🤭
