Reviewing Goodsmile’s Wonderfest announcements.
Luckily not too much was announced that would break the bank, speaking in terms of stuff that I’m interested in, which is video game characters. So this list will only covers figures of characters from media I like.
First off, Reinhardt Nendo!
So big! In terms of Overwatch Nendos, I’ve only been collecting the girls exclusively so far, but this Reinhardt is pretty tempting.
The Luminary Nendo
The Hero from Dragon Quest 11! It’s really cool and surprising to see a Square character being made by Goodsmile, Square usually handles fancy figures themselves with their Bring Arts/Play Arts Kai. Really nice look overall and certainly a figure to think about.
Bayonetta Nendo
The protoytpe is looking fantastic. Although if I’m gonna be honest, I much prefer her Bayo 2 short hair look. That’s why I’m still considering this one and wouldn’t say it’s an instant buy.
Vanellope Von Schweetz Nendo
Just announced to be in production, so no prototypes to look at but FINALLY! Vanellope seemed like the perfect fit from the start when they announced they were doing a bunch more Disney Nendos, she’s got the proportions of one. This is a Disney Nendo is one I would definitely buy and not regret cause Wreck-It Ralph is like my fav Disney movie. Surprised there was no mention of the Zootopia Nendos that got announced a while back. 👀
Beef Boss Nendo
I gotta say I’m very surprised to see Beef Boss suddenly get the merch treatment, I mean he already has some merch but it seems like Epic is more interested in putting his rival, Tomatohead front and center. It looks so wonderfully sculpted by the folks at Goodsmile and I will more than likely get it.
Skull Trooper Nendo
I don’t know why this one surprised me so much. Skull Trooper is like the most popular outfit out there. He so popular, it’s always a big deal when he comes back to the shop every October, and Epic even tried to cash more on him by making a weird Christmas version of him, Skull Squad sells. And I can’t lie, I like Skull Trooper too, it’s certainly a maybe from me but I’m still waiting for a Drift Nendo to be announced.
Off the Hook Figma
And now for the only figmas on this list, it seemed all about Nendos up until now, which isn’t to say there’s anything against figmas I actually like figmas more than Nendos cause they’re in proportion and not chibis. But there just genuinely no figmas announced this Wonder Fest that interested me, until now.
Ever since Splatoon 1, I’ve been saying how much I would love to see Nendos of the Squid Sisters, and it never happened. And now we’re in Splatoon 2, which had new hosts, a stunningly cute duo known as Off the Hook who I like more than Squid Sisters now and they didn’t get Nendos, no they got something even better, Figmas! So these will be amazing fully poseable figures that are true to the proportions of the characters in game! This will be an instant buy the second preorders go live. I wonder if they’ll have a “deluxe edition” that’ll come with their Octo Expansion outfits? Only time will tell!
Ochaco Uraraka Figma
Ok there’s actually one more on this list which is the only non-video game character, an anime character! I’m not gonna day much cause I’m still super behind on My Hero, which is the same reason I won’t be covering any Demon Slayer stuff. But I will say I always thought Ochaco was really cute and this Figma seems nice. A maybe from me.
