Don't Underestimate THIS Artist!

This is a unique take I've had on Wart/Mamu, the main antagonist from the classic NES game Super Mario Bros. 2. In this instance, instead of being the villain as in the original game, he's a good guy; the benevolent ruler of the dream world, a.k.a. Subcon! It was just a fun little AU idea I've had. Anyways, enjoy my artwork!

A commission made via DeviantArt. Here I was tasked to mimic the artstyle of the LATE video game artist Greg Martin (1956-2013), for the all-time classic 1988 NES game Super Mario Bros. 2! I hope I have paid tribute to Mr. Martin’s legacy with this fanart mock-up here! Enjoy!

Believe it or not, Wart from Mario 2 officially states this EXACT quote above, which came from the Super Mario Advance interactive gamebook originally published by Scholastic back in 2001 (see here).

I wanted to take Wart’s words literally, in hoping that he’ll actually make a significant comeback in the Mario franchise someday, even if it’s just for the spin-offs. If other obscure Mario characters like Pauline could do it, I believe so can Wart!  That’s where this fanart of mine comes in! Enjoy!

Anyways, Nintendo has been recently showing more and more love to their older characters, and I hope this is the case going forward! We definitely need more revivals of unique characters than rehashes of existing ones when it comes to the spin-offs!

A fanmade concept for King Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2 / USA what he’d look like in wedding attire as in Super Mario Odyssey. I’m not sure if Wart himself is the “marrying” type, but it’s fun to imagine it!

With the Link's Awakening 2019 remake giving The Great Wart new life, this is now the PERFECT opportunity to re-introduce the homeboy in more Mario games, particularly in spin-offs like Mario Kart!

Okay maybe not THAT particular Mario Kart, but you get the idea! He needs to come back FOR GOOD!
