“Viewed from the infamous Roosevelt Road overpass, Grand Trunk Western's eastbound Maple Leaf departs Dearborn Street Station for Toronto. Meanwhile, Santa Fe's westbound San Francisco Chief awaits its time to depart, and one of Santa Fe's steam generator-equipped RS1's stands aside with an inbound consist.”

Caption: “GTW F7 (9021) and GP9 (4430) and SW1200 (CV1502) at Elsdon Yard, the ‘Trunk’’s little yard tucked obscurely on the near southwest side. The roundhouse and engine servicing was along the west side of Kedzie, north of 51st Street.  The pair of Geeps are hooked up back-to-back, and the three chime horns are pointed correctly and in the right position.”

Santa Fe Meets the GTW by Joe McMillan Via Flickr: Caption: “Santa Fe GP20 3063 and mates are being serviced at Corwith Yard in Chicago, Illinois, April 28, 1988. The GTW units were off a Detroit-to-Corwith train that was running at the time. The units are waiting for the Santa Fe connection to arrive.”

Note the Sears Tower in the distance.
