CB&Q 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 4960 by Chuck Zeiler Via Flickr: Caption: “Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 4960 westbound at Naperville, Illinois on October 17, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. It is seen here on a round trip to Streator, departing Chicago at 9:00 AM DST, leaving Aurora at 10:10 AM, returning to Chicago at 6:30 PM. It was sponsored by the Illini Railroad Club, the fare was $7.50.”
CB&Q 4-8-4 Class O-5-B 5632 by Chuck Zeiler Via Flickr: Caption: “Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-8-4 Class O-5-B 5632 departing westbound at the Aurora, Illinois depot on October 11, 1964, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This was one of many CB&Q steam excursions in 1964, this one headed by 4-8-4 5632. The orange car cut in behind the tender is the Chief Illini, the private car of the Illini Railroad Club, the railroad club of the University of Illinois. It was originally a Pullman observation named Inglehome, was bought by Maury Kleiboldt and was for a while a regular fixture on CB&Q steam excursions. Retired in 1968, today it resides at the Illinois Railway Museum.”
