Rock Island units at LaSalle St Station - Dec 76 by G Morris Via Flickr: “An interesting group of Rock Island E and F units arrives at LaSalle Street Station in Chicago to be divided up for rush hour trains. I was next door at the abandoned Dearborn Station taking pictures when I noticed increasing activity at LaSalle. Not the greatest spot for photos in the weeds - not too many years before it was full of baggage and express cars. Looks like an ex-UP unit in the mix along with an E7 cab and even rarer E7B unit.”

On the left is C&NW F7A #416, just in on train #712 from Crystal Lake. On the next track is E8 5031A and beyond are baby blue RTA E8s 517 and 522. On this cold Saturday morning, January 9, 1982 there are no F40PHs to be found, but EMD in nearby LaGrange will deliver another batch of the units a year later silence some of these classic carbodies.
