“North Shore Line trolley/battery motor 456 is crossing Oakton Street onto the North Shore/C&NW interchange, they left their train on the main. The building at left is still there, Crafty Beaver, Skokie Lumber. The old Oakton L Station is at right, it was torn down shortly after the Skokie Swift station was replaced by the new Skokie Swift station.”

“Chicago Transit Authority Line Car S-606 is northbound on the Skokie Swift at Kostner Avenue in March 1977. This car was former Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee Line Car 606 built in 1923 by the Cincinnati Car Co. It was one of the few line cars built new. CTA purchased the car in 1964 from the abandoned North Shore when it was rehabbing former North Shore trackage for the Skokie Swift.”
