“This pair of E-units (631 was an E6 but I think Bob Anderson is right about the trailer being an E3) is backing the Chicago-Omaha Cornhusker from 47th Street coach yard past the 16th Street tower to LaSalle Street Station, preparatory to its departure. The diamonds it just crossed are those of the Illinois Central's mainline to Iowa, and the St Charles Air Line that was jointly owned, and ran over all those bascule bridges one sees in southward views from Roosevelt Road.”

Running a dinner train circle trip to Sturtevant, Wisconsin from Chicago and back on CP's C&M Subdivision, Rebuilt EMD F9PHA 1010 went on to Norfolk Southern as their 270. After NS no longer wanted to use a classic locomotive on their business train, it was sold to the Reading and Northern.”
