Leaving the concrete canyon of Near South Side behind, CN 2169 slowly negotiates CN M337 over the now single tracked 16th St. interlocking bound for the Freeport Sub.

The Night’s Last El by Carlton Holls Via Flickr: An El Train crosses the Chicago River atop the Wells Street Bridge in Chicago's Loop. The title was inspired by a passage from “Never Come Morning,” a Chicago based novel by author Nelson Algren. "The Great trains howling from track to track all night. The taut and telegraphic murmur of ten thousand city wires, drawn most cruelly against a city sky. The rush of city waters, beneath the city streets. The passionate passing of the night's last El."
