AMTRAK by rrradioman on Flickr.

Chicago July 1974 A good example of the strangeness that was early Amtrak. Here we see a former Illinois Central locomotive on the tracks leading to Chicago Union Station, instead of being at IC’s Central Station further east near Michigan Avenue.

CORWITH YARD by rrradioman on Flickr.

April 1974 Santa Fe locomotives at the Corwith Yard in Chicago, in the area bounded by the Stevenson Expressway, Pulaski, Archer, and Kedzie. It is still in operation today as a BNSF intermodal facility. Note the Sears Tower in the distance.
