Unpopular opinion apparently but don't even fucking bother with the 3d chain of memories at all, it's supposed to be a fucking 2d card game that's why it's completely unplayable on ps2. It's dare I say ACTUALLY FUN on the gameboy rom. Looks a lot better too frankly. Gameboy advance chain of memories supremacy. Like it's not even close.

Snippet of my Namiku fic
As the music started Riku took Naminé's hand with one of his and put the other on her lower back. Despite their height difference Naminé was guided by Riku and he moved gracefully. “Wow, I never took you for a dancer.” Naminé said with slight surprise.
“I, uh, I'm not.” Riku motioned down to the floor. When Naminé looked towards it she saw Riku's magic flowing like sparks of blue electricity from his shoes to the ground. “Sorry, I had to cheat.” Terra had taught him how to channel the same magic he uses for flowmotion to solely use it for his legs. “I don't think I'm good so much as you haven't danced before.” As the two kept dancing a thought reached Riku's lips, “How come you're in yellow? I was kinda thinking you'd get a white dress.”
Naminé pouted cutely, “The Queen said I shouldn't wear white and that I should save it for my first dance.”
Riku saw her face move from pouting to a little dejected. Riku hated seeing that. She deserved more than him cheating with magic to save face and she definitely deserved to wear her favorite color. “I guess we'll need a do over. I promise to actually learn how to dance if you'll wear white for our real first dance.”

“We used to love talking about the future. Now… now I can barely think past the day.” She turned to face him, had the room not been pitch black now maybe he would have seen tears threatening to fall from her eyes. “Every time I close my eyes I think about that place. That somehow my mind is playing another trick on me. That all of this is just another illusion and I'll wake up from it and…” she was speaking so fast and her voice wavered. “And I won't have you or Ven or anyone else anymore. That my heart will break.”
He wrapped his arms around her tightly. Maybe more tightly than he ever had. There was not a thing he could say to make it better, to fix it, to fix them. His own wounds were still on his heart. He would not want someone trying to tell him there was going to be a day where he just forgot about what happened or a day where he just learned to live with the pain. No, even with time he knew those old wounds would still break open. Those thoughts, those feelings, that pain. That was a part of him. Forever. Though, there was one thing he wanted to say to her. More than anything else. “Aqua?”
“Yes?”
“I'm here.”
“I'm here too.”

Kindgom Hearts has to be one of the only franchises where people will try to "prove" without a shadow of a doubt their ship is more canon than another by any means possible. Which is really funny when Nomura also says the story is much more simple than people actually think.
At the start of Limit Cut, Riku tells the Radiant Garden Restoration Committee what the Guardians and allies have been doing for the past year to search for Sora, and Aerith asks about Kairi's task/status. Except Kairi has been in the lab in the castle playing the rhythm game following her dreams for the whole year, overseen by Ansem and his apprentices. Kairi is right up the street; Aerith and co. should know what's going on with her.
I wouldn't want to talk to Ansem either tbh. That man is a dickhole.
Begging people to understand that KH1-KH3 happens in one year and roughly two weeks.
Why don't these characters interact more? Because they're child soliders literally training to fight in THE war. Hell, just Hollow Bastion 2 to the end of Ansem SoD is 16 days.
How come Kairi doesn't do anything? Cause she literally just got Destiny’s Embrace. How come she hasn't talked to her man? Cause they talked the other day in-game time.
Nomura is what I like to call a "timeline filler." Everything happens right after another and having a year long time skip after KH3 is huge in canon.

heres the thing abt kairi. i don't think she's poorly written, i think she's poorly executed. like there's a conflict/lack of cohesive vision for her and they're trying to shoehorn her into a role she does not fit.
Actually from early beta content from the second game we know Nomura wanted Kairi to absolutely go fight for her man and from what he's said in this previous interview he just did a lot of the beta concepts of Another Side Another Story are coming back to play.
I believe, in my heart, that Nomura knows he has to use Kairi sparingly because when she's with Sora he can do anything.
Fairy Godmother told Aqua in BBS that they can't fight the darkness with light, this being that they are two sides of the same primordial coin, and she very not so subtly alludes to fighting darkness with love. And what are these to if not truly in love in canon?
So honestly keeping her away from Sora has always been a meta reason to keep the franchise going.
