it’s hard not to comment on the sexism in this show when everyone’s so quick to have these cutesy kumbaya moments at tribal about sexism and how women can do anything men can do in survivor
and yet we have two women in the final three. one was natalie, who was voted out on day two, yet survived a month on an island with almost nothing on it, outran and outlasted players who were voted out weeks after her in grueling torture challenges for a single fire token, wheeled and dealed fire tokens to the point where she was able to buy an idol, and bought three advantages to win her way back into the game, and she won the final immunity challenge
we have another woman, michele, who was on the bottom for the entire game, but was able to win immunity twice when she needed it most when her ragtag last minute alliance members didn’t believe her when she told them time and time again that tony was running the show, and whose social game was ostensibly good enough to continuously be willed fire tokens. and, might we add, who had never been voted out in the 70 days she’d played survivor.
and finally, we have tony, who, to his credit, had a good enough social game to not receive a single vote the entire season, and was able to win immunity four times…
and yet this jury of sixteen players doled out only four votes to those two women. not even between them - they all went to natalie
and that’s why women have a problem with the way this game is played and the empty “girl power!” quotes and ~teachable moments~ we’re fed that does nothing but leave us hungry for something that never materializes
