Fall weather is getting me in the mood for cozy things. I know you are all here for knitting... and so am I 😅 I just bought yarn for the first time in ages, and I can't wait to cast on a squishy winter hat. But for now, I have to make it through October... then on to the fun stuff!
Just updated the shop with some fall stickers and more mystery packs!
A watercolor commission I finished up a few weeks ago. This piece just keeps growing on me. I am really proud with how much my skill with watercolor has grown, despite me not practicing it as much as I should. This was also a lot of fun to paint. If anyone wants fall leaves, hit me up!
So, I just released this digital download in my Etsy shop! This is the mood tracker formate I have been using for the past year now. I was inspired by the one originally given to me by my doctor. I use this page to track my moods and mental health through out the month. It gives me great insight into what areas I need to work on or improve. This is super helpful for when you have a busy lifestyle, forget things, or just repress how you feel all the time 🙃
I have left all sections blank so you can fill it in with whatever you are interested in tracking for the month. There is also an open section for notes to keep track of events that happened.
I hope you find this helpful! Please let me know if you would like to see more stuff like this in the future.
New video! https://youtu.be/k2aDNcpAGv8
As much as I love filming, editing and creating videos... I hate making thumbnails 😂😅Please ignore this silly thumbnail and go and watch my new vlog! It is really short and I am very proud of my editing. Also feel free to subscribe! I am working hard to start expanding my content. I really want to start incorporating knitting and sewing tutorials once a month. If you do watch my videos, I would love to know if you have any feed back. What would you like to see from my channel?
Thanks!
Something knitty this way blows...
Haha, that doesn’t work at all, but I got another knitted object off the needles! These scrappy Sister Socks. I absolutely love them. I have been wearing them a little too much, the one yarn is already pilling. Thats what you get for using a non-sock yarn.
Pattern: My own
Yarn: A mix of Madeline Tosh and Knit Picks Stroll.
There she is! My #shiftysweater. Gently blocking on the front porch in the first Fall breeze. I am super happy with this sweater. It took me ages to knit, so it feels really good to cast it off. I can't wait to wear it around a fire, to go hiking, to curl up with some hot tea... I am so excited for Fall!
I really am excited for Fall. Who else is really excited for fall? I am also super pumped to eat one of these apples. A few more days and they should be ripe!
Shifty by Andrea Mowry
Yarn: Patons Kroy Sock
Summer is almost over. I thought I would be a little bit sadder about it. But evenings spent knitting by the firelight and dreaming of cozy sweaters is really pretty nice :) Plus, I am totally ready to finish this #shiftysweater and finally WEAR it!
“IT’S FALL Y’ALL”
omg, I am SO SORRY. But that damn saying has been stuck in my head for the past month. It really annoys me, but I can’t help wanting to scream it at the top of my lungs every time I see a Pumpkin Spiced anything, leaves changing colors, piles of squash, soup, hot tea, boots, all the hats and scarves! I have missed this season so so so much. I am basically living off of crock pot soups, tea, biscuits and books. It is disgusting.
But I will have a nice new pair of cute socks finished up really soon. So I can run around outside and keep harassing people with my pure excitement over Fall.
Still stitching away at this sweater. Cast off the bottom and moved onto the sleeves. Which I have torn out and restarted twice. I started by dropping a stitch :( I really wanted to do the sleeves in all garter stitch, but I was really struggling with laddering while working on DPNs. So I switched to a pair of 9″ circulars that my friend lent me. I still struggle with all those purl stitches. That led to the second frogging. But I am back to just the knit stitch, and things seems to be moving along so much faster.
Pattern is So Faded by Andrea Mowry. Yarn is Madeline Tosh 80|10|10 Fingering in colorway Minimal Havana Optic.
So... I have been working on a new pattern. I am hoping to share it very soon. It is a little present for all of you lovely people. I am basing the design off of some mittens I used to make when I first started knitting. They are a lot of fun, knit up quick, and are great for fall. I just hope I can pick up the speed with this whole pattern writing part. So I can post it to Ravelry before winter hits 😅
Oh, hey there, it’s me. Sorry, but I gave up last week. I just didn’t have the energy or really anything new to share. I spent most of my time furiously cross stitching anyway. But I am back, it is a new week, and I am feeling positive! I have been working on a little surprise for you all, I hope you like it :)
A quick overview of all of my current projects: *Posy Cardigans 1 & 2. 1 is complete and I just started on the sleeves of 2! *White Cabled Scarf, will be a Christmas gift. I love the stitches so much. I can't wait to make a fisherman cabled sweater. *Gray socks, were a possible Christmas gift, most likely not. Instead using them as a way to test out stitches. Its pair will not be the same. *Sandy Tweed Cowl, just an excuse to play with texture and use up some yarn. Liking the outcome so far! That's all!
I'm back to the needle and thread... well at least I was last week. Only one of two projects turn out. The first is that weird poncho/wrap thing I'm wearing. According to the wonderful tutorial I followed, I was expecting it to look a bit classier. In reality though, it just looks like I swathed myself in a few yards of fabric. I followed a video tutorial by the YouTuber WithWendy. Her videos are really cool and she is very fashion forward. Just be sure to follow her tips for best fabric choice... because she knows what she is doing. I also attempted to add pockets, but like a dingus, I cut the slits to large and ended up with holes because the fabric frayed so badly. My second project was just a simple bag I threw together for a birthday gift. It isn't anything special, and I am can't remember where I found the tutorial for it (just send me an ask if you really want to know, I will try to hunt it down) But it felt good to remind myself that I can sew and not screw everything up.
Look! I finished something! I can't believe how long it took me to make this set. It was sort of strange. Maybe I had more going on then I realized. But here you have it, a fair isle tam inspired by a pattern out of an Alice Starmore book. The fingerless gloves are my own pattern, with the fair isle incorporated into them. I wanted to keep the set young, girly and comfy, because I made them in mind for my young neice. I used a soft fingering weight cotton. It doesn't hold the shape of the hat very well. But it will let her wear it multiple ways, not just as a tam. I'm excited to work this up with wool though, possibly with a more intricate design.
A good cup of coffee goes a long way... I like to sprinkle cardamom and cinnamon in my grounds before brewing. Once you try it you never go back! I know most of you are embracing spring with your arms open. But I am rebelling... I want to hold onto cozy dark days just a little bit longer. We don't get a whole lot of that here on Okinawa. So before the temperature spikes to a consistent 98 degrees Fahrenheit. I am making myself a pair of fluffy, soft, and cozy cabled socks/slippers. Plus, sometimes it is tough to find a good spring knitwear project. So if you have any you want to share, please do!
